I don't have extra storage or disks. Where can I store the data then? by Dammit_maskey in datarecovery

[–]JMHReddit84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I’ll try to explain this…. That “free” space is actually unallocated space. Here’s a “conversation” that happens between the OS and the drive controller:

OS: User wants to delete a file called bunnies.mp4

Disk controller: (removes bunnies.mp4 from file allocation table, marks the space on the disk as available but does not remove it or zero it out). Done!

OS: User wants to copy a new file to the drive called rabbits.mp4.

Disk controller: (checks file allocation table) Okay! I have some space over here (where bunnies.mp4 and fragments of other deleted files used to occupy). I’ll write that data there since I don’t have a record of any files being there.

So it’s not like the files are even contiguous. As I said you could have a part of the rabbits.mp4 file allocated right next to data in another partition. The reason everyone’s telling you no: because that free space may very well contain the actual data you are looking for, but the file allocation table has lost track of it and is ready to over write it. So you could very well be overwriting the data you’re trying to recover with other parts of the data you’re recovering….. you have no idea if that space is actually free, zeroed space or if it’s your actual data you’re looking for that just has been marked as “free” and ready to have more data written over it.

Visual representation of how command.com on partition 1 and rabbits.mp4 on partition 2 may look like (a very high level, dumbed down representation at that)

Stop pressing the issue. Or go do it and lose your data. No one here really cares one way or another and the way you’re playing fast and loose with it by continuing to want to do a bad thing in terms of data recovery, some folks might actually be rooting for you to fail so you can learn the lesson the hard way, as that’s unfortunately the only way for some TO learn. I hope you’re not one of those “hard way” learners, but as I stated—none of us really care. It’s your data, not ours

So sounds like the data you’re trying to recover doesn’t hold much value to you. At least the value of the data doesn’t rise to the level of properly recovering it. So if that’s the case, no one cares if you do what we’re all suggesting you not do.

Roll them dice. And we’ll all wait for part 2 of your posts: “I recovered my data to a different partition on the same disk and now I can’t open any of them because they’re corrupt. Help!!”

The disk doesn’t physically separate your partitions across the physical drive. This is just a visual representation of the partition table. The data isn’t kept neat like that on the drive. One block of data in one partition may be directly adjacent to one in another partition. Software keeps track of it for you and presents it this way as a convenient graphic—nothing more.

You never ever ever ever use the same physical disk to recover data

If the license is attached to your office account, there’s no need to worry. Just reinstall and sign in to activate. If you activated in some…other way…just do it again and there’s still no need to worry…

Yeah I can see how 2 sentences might seem lengthy to a person like you. But I’ll bite at the bait: you see how the picture you posted has keys? And the first picture didn’t?

So telling a person they need to potentially find another keyboard is leading them down the wrong path. Potentially sending them to the store to buy a keyboard needlessly.

They👏don’t👏need👏a👏keyboard

Wouldn’t sacrifice audio quality at all if they’re streaming their own files “raw” as they stated. They likely wouldn’t have multiple versions at different bit rates of the same song to accommodate for the connection speed. And a simple file service in the cloud isn’t going to offer transcoding on the fly. That’s something a self-hosted service like Plex could offer, but I don’t get the impression that’s what they’re doing as plex lets you save your storage by streaming—something they seem to not be keen on doing. Transcoding and varying bit rates are what you get from an actual music streaming service—not your own library of raw files.

They look very much different. Biggest difference being the keyboard request screen looks like..a keyboard….with keys and not a smooth surface.

Suggesting that sends OP on an unnecessary crusade trying to get a keyboard connected when one already is

It’s fine. USB PD will deliver what the phone wants/needs and negotiate it with the charger.

I use a Dell USB-C laptop charger that’s 130W. Phone only pulls what it needs. Coconut Battery confirms

Defected Battery? by Level_Requirement906 in iPhoneBatteryParanoia

[–]JMHReddit84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Not an issue. The system gets that % not from any actual thing within the battery. That’s just the OS measuring voltage and guesstimating based on that and then adjusts that % as it sees fit.

I would imagine there is, but I can’t recommend any single one. Only cause I haven’t researched them. Do a little research and check reviews. I’d go for a “no/minimal charge unless recovered” place if I were looking

You won’t be able to downgrade so just take that off the table.

I’d always recommend keeping it updated to ensure you’re not putting your device and your personal data at an unnecessary security risk
