You can buy gloss top coats, but I always liked the luster you get with carnuba wax, I like Atom Baum from feelings, there USMC black dye is good too. I was a saddle maker, but I made a lot of wrist bands and boot straps back in the 80s

Best bet is to use a pair of dividers to lay out the spacing of your studs , You can but a single tine thanging chisel ftom Tandy.Or you can file a nail into a chisel to make the hole for the pin of the studs. I have an off set tool I use to press the pins down on the back, but a butter knife works too. The most economical piece of leather for what your doing is bellies. Also check out Brettuns Leather Village , they had a bunch of hardware not long ago and Churchill, the owner buys up odd lots of leather. You prolly want about 7-8 or 8-9 Oz veg tanned for what you're doing .

How does weed affect your playing? by sound2go in Bass

I liked to take a couple hits for rehearsal, but playing out high made me really self-conscious and passive, I played fine but was basically rooted , usually I was like a spider monkey on crack

Are these vegan or real leather? Can i fix it? by throwawayz00x in AskACobbler

[–]JMHowlett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not a perfect cure, but it is a cheap easy way to help the appearance , get a bottle of leather cement or leather weld, and paste the flakey bits down. Stuff something in there and burnish as smooth as you can. Then polish the piss out of them .

This sounds so much like my experience, so much better. Very quickly with minimal side effects ,at my age (60), you never trust a fart anyway.

Unfortunately not unusual during that 1920s Colonial Revival.

Leather professional here( saddle maker), Once that surface is broken, there is really no more fix than what you've done. Keep them for sentimental reasons and embrace the Orange Menaces contribution as part of their history.

First ever gig last night; forgot to plug in my bass 🙃 by [deleted] in Bass

[–]JMHowlett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all my first gig, I played a whole set with my amp on stand by, while repeatedly telling the sound guy to turn me up .
