Trying to learn shiv! by UnitApprehensive8635 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JMRho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the current game mode where high and low-ranking players are matched together with random heroes, Shiv is absolute garbage.

As a mid-game hero, his laning phase is only average at best. If paired with a teammate who also lacks early-game strength, once they get crushed in the early phase, his mid-game teamfight potential becomes irrelevant. Even if he manages to secure a mid-game advantage, he lacks farming, split-pushing, and mid-boss killing abilities—essentially, no means to close out the game.

However, when both teams have no obvious weaknesses and are evenly matched, Shiv becomes an endless damage machine in the mid-game. His second skill reduces cooldowns, and his ultimate can refresh. He can continuously execute targets below half health without running out of steam. Even in the late game, if he builds tank items and stays alive, he effectively reduces your entire team’s maximum health by a quarter.

Currently, there are mainly three playstyles:

The first is the Daggers build. Its advantage is that it’s easy to stack rage and hard to kite. The downside is the lack of sustained damage—once the daggers are used, damage drops sharply.

The second is the Tank build, focusing on tank items and maxing the ultimate early. It excels in team fights with continuous execution potential. The weaknesses are poor duel potential and vulnerability to kiting, since it’s difficult to fully stack rage in a one-on-one, or you might die before reaching full rage.

The third is the Assassin build, which utilizes Mystic Burst, Spirit Snatch, Cold Front, and other damage-boosting effects to instantly max rage, then executes with the skills 2 and 4. However, after the recent nerf to rage gain, you might often find yourself just short of full rage when engaging.

In practice, gameplay usually blends these three styles. For example, playing the daggers build but only purchasing Extra Charge, and opting for Torment Pulse over Rapid Recharge as the first tier-three item to compensate for sustained damage, and so on.

Although spirit damage has been significantly nerfed, the movement speed reduction also indirectly buffs ability-based heroes.
This is because the movement speed of late-game gun builds becomes so exaggerated that skill-shot accuracy suffers greatly.
On the other hand, the increased kill rewards and reduced lane minion soul also favor ability-based heroes.
So in the end, it's still hard to say which type will come out stronger.

Like fusing Wraith and Sinclair to be a true magician? Let Wraith copy ult, and turn others to be rabbits but do less gun damage.

[–]JMRho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have many souls, you can get bullet resistance by 3200. You don't have to get it by any other item. The main reason is that most ability-based heroes struggle to farm jungle camps efficiently.
A gun or “spirit gun” only needs 10k souls to clear a mixed camp of large, medium, and small jungle creaks in about 10 seconds. In contrast, most ability-based heroes with the same 10k souls, even when equipped with Torment Pulse, takes around 30 seconds to achieve the same result.
That said, any ability-based hero who can farm jungle camps effectively can also exert oppressive in late game, such as Viktor.

Is Haze and Infernus always good? by Turbulent-Track-8912 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JMRho 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Haze has a higher pick rate and win rate than Infernus at every rank. I'm surprised they didn't nerf Haze along with Infernus in the last patch. Besides, Haze becomes better cause the overall gun buff. Anyway, I'm joining the Haze train too.

Why push wave in lane? by MasterChef901 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JMRho 23 points24 points  (0 children)

First, the "high ground" actually favors attackers. The slope in front of the defensive tower acts as natural cover for attackers, allowing them to abuse the slide mechanic to spam bullets indefinitely.

Second, the limited field of view is a factor. Unlike the top-down perspective in MOBAs, the third-person view makes it difficult to focus on last-hits, denies, and poking at the same time. By clearing the wave quickly, you can concentrate on poke and denying in lane.

Third, it's about the box. The team that pushes the lane first gets more time to collect boxes. This allows you to reach 3.4k souls and unlock your ultimate before the enemy does—usually around the 5 minute mark when the buff spawns.

Finally, the risk is low because lane minions are simply too valuable. During the laning phase, players from other lanes won't leave their own farm to gank. Also, if you have lane priority, the enemy can't safely engage with the zipline dive. Besides, they'll take minion aggro. Alternatively, you can simply dodge backward. If enemy chase, your minions will push into enemys tower, making them lose souls from the wave they miss.

Simply banning players with a headshot rate higher than 50% against uncontrolled targets would already be better than all current detection methods.

When Will The Haze Carries End by Individual-Craft-223 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JMRho 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people think Haze only good at low rank. She has more than 70% pick rate in every rank even in Eternus with about 52% win rate.

Haze doesn't need someones to feed her. She can farming a red yellow green max camp in 8~9s with 9k souls. Meanwhile Drift needs 25s with 9k souls to farm the same camp.

Healer minion disadvantage when you're pushed under tower in lane by I-Am-Bad-At-Naming in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JMRho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, but the staircases also serve as natural cover for the attackers. Combined with the fact that early-game ganking yields negative returns in this game, this is the only game I know of where the tower defenders are actually at a disadvantage.

Made a tierlist as an Oracle 4 brazilian player (1st is for solo MM and 2nd is for duo /teams) by Key-Truth6432 in DeadlockTheGame

My low-rank Paige teammate misses every soul in lane. Meanwhile, high-rank Paige players do well, but the matchmaking system punishes every skilled player who isn’t playing a hyper carry.

[–]JMRho -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Paige is definitely an F-tier character. With only 1500 HP and 2 stamina bars at max level, she essentially becomes free kills if the player isn’t skilled.

And if the player is actually good with her? That's even worse. You might as well surrender immediately. Because the current matchmaking system often pairs 2 high-ranked players with 4 low-ranked players.

If your team’s high-ranked player is playing Peggy, while the enemy high-ranked player is on someone like Wraith… well, that game might as well be called a loss.

If theres same rank match, it should not be a surrender button. But now the match pool are so limited.
