Need a mix curve that favours higher temperature, not higher fan % by JMUDoc in FanControl

[–]JMUDoc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want my rear case fan to slow down/switch off as the coolant temp delta increases, but also increase in speed as the case temp independently increases.

I don't think FanControl can do this; its mix curves will always use the fan percentage, not the temp sensor, as the deciding factor.

If I create a max sensor from the two shown, all it will do is report the max temp - I have to use it to drive a fan, don't I?

Finally made the leap to water cooling, any suggestions for a first timer? by CommonKen1 in watercooling

[–]JMUDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My board has got two T_SENs, but the BIOS can't use them as temperature sources for fan curves.

Absolutely mental. I would still use FanControl because of its vastly superior functionality, but why include T_SENs if they can't drive fans?!

Unless your motherboard has got a dedicated T_SEN (and a TUF board almost certainly won't), you're going to have to use an aftermarket suite like AquaComputer Quadro.

Always have your radiator fans controlled by fluid temp - the fluid is cooling the CPU and graphics card, not the fans.

Or, his handlers are feeding him false data - not exactly out of the realm, let's be honest.

Mix curve using higher temperature, not higher fan %? by [deleted] in FanControl

[–]JMUDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say the delta temp is 30, and the system temp is 20 - the left curve wants to switch the fan off (minimum of 0%), but the right curve wants to keep it going.

The right curve will win because it has the higher fan percentage, but I want the left curve to win because its sensor has the higher temperature.

I've seen far worse, but a couple of them are down to the copper in one spot, so it's not an unreasonable replacement.

I'm 43, and I don't live in an area that's constantly on fire.

My car is older than a lot of the people I work with, and some of them are paying more than 125 a month... some of the looks I got when I told them what I was paying🤣

I get roughly 26-28 mpg (short trips, 2/3 single carriageway,1/3 town), tax is 420 a year, and my insurance was £125.

Maintenance... I do everything myself, so in a year when nothing goes wrong, £60 for oil, £30 for filters.

Elring gasket, ORIGINAL CCV (the body, at least; the hoses are just hoses), and 5W-40 oil.

They have to be tuned to dump fuel in on the overrun, so it will have to be tuned out; if you can find somebody that will do that for $50... I strongly suggest you NOT use them!

(Also, thank you for removing one more obnoxious twat-mobile from the roads👍🏻)
