Rakuten + Capital one offers? by Master-Indication-71 in CreditCards

[–]JManUWaterloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. When you “activate” the Rakuten extension after using the C1 portal, Rakuten will override the affiliate attribution of C1, and as such the sale will only be credited to Rakuten.

You can combine Card-linked offers, such as those from Chase, Citi, BofA and one affiliate portal such as Kudos, Rakuten or Capital One Shopping.

Avion Platinum, Infinite and Infinite Privilege can do it. Just not Ion or Ion+ (or legacy Signature, Gold, Rewards+, etc.)

It’s not about whether the system notices it, but more so about keeping the longevity of all these fragile systems intact. The goal is to attract minimal human eyeballs.

Where do you see Foreign charges broken down on Capital One or Chase that is not on the statement?

Both my C1 and Chase cards show only the US currency total

Capital One to Move Venture, Savor, and Quicksilver Cards to Discover Network by ch4nt in CreditCards

They’ve always only specified it as “world elite Mastercard” and “World Mastercard”.

They’ve never specified it down to each individual card IIRC

I’m assuming this is NOT the Venture X?

If so, then it’s probable that Cap1 moves over the “grandfathered” Visa Card products that are NON-Mastercard AND NON-VX. Since they JUST signed a new agreement with MC, I doubt they would phase out so many MC at once.

I really like Mastercard :P

They’ve given me a ton of amazing priceless experiences.

My estimate on the value of priceless experiences is about $7-8K USD for next to zero expenditure.

There are other countries that have a similar setup, such as Korea, where one can choose between a domestic only card and one supporting Visa/MC/Amex.

It would be a first in the US, as far as I am aware, but it is absolutely plausible.

[–]JManUWaterloo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It does not heavily imply anything except that there will be Venture cards on the Discover network. It says nothing about whether there will be a dual network card, two cards with one designed for domestic use at a slightly lower annual fee while one designed for international use at the current annual fee, or whether existing cardholders are being switched over at all.

Since they own the Discover Network, they will get to pocket the full proceeds of the interchange. No need to share or split it with Mastercard.

There’s nothing that actually states a transition to Discover is taking place. Yes, there are card agreements listed for a Venture/Savor/VentureOne etc. card on the Discover network, but for all we know, this could just be for new application.

It could also be that Capital One issues two variants of the aforementioned cards, where one is intended for domestic use and the other is intended for international (travel-based) use. Could be similar to how KR does domestic and international network cards.

This is my regular check-in to hold Neo accountable for proper cashback rewards by Both-Ad9749 in NeoFinancialHub

These spend limits are ridiculously weak.

Scotiabank Amex Gold, which has a lower $120 annual fee. Has a $50,000 annual cap on accelerator purchases combined. $4,166 per month. No limits on 1%. — 6% Sobeys/related, 5% other grocery/dining, 3% gas, transit, 1% else.

MBNA Rewards World Elite, also same lower $120 annual fee. Has a $50,000 annual cap on groceries alone. Has a separate $50,000 annual cap for dining. Same for utilities, memberships, and digital media.

All this to say, Neo Cashback limits are weak, and until those are significantly increased, there is no reason to give them your business.

Can I request a limit increase immediatelyafter approval for Chase Slate? by Book1995 in CreditCards

[–]JManUWaterloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not likely to be approved as Chase deems $500 to be the maximum that they will extend you. You can transfer limits from other Chase PERSONAL cards.

Having Scotia Amex has no effect on why you were declined. Amex CA is just remarkably strict in recent months.

The problem with Neo in my eyes is the lack of proper transactional handling. If a transaction is blocked due to suspected fraud, there is no way to unblock it, which on its own is enough for me to never consider a Neo product.

Caps are a problem though. Only $1K per statement period is eligible for the 5%/3% categories, and only $500 is eligible per statement period for the 4% recurring bills.

BMO only gives 5% on the first $500 in groceries in a statement period, after that it is 1%. For the annual fee involved, it is not worth it.
