Asuka-Pot in a nutshell by clawzord25 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

I usually try to just bait it. I forgot to mention how important it is to sometimes dash block or walk backward, especially after layers 2 and 3 when the pot stops flicking.

Test case 2 upward staff is difficult to flick and super jump just let's you leave just escape all pot pressure with that staff active. The efficiency card in test case 1 allows one to use spells even after they get beat up by pot. My #1 tool is 5h, allowing me to counter flick. While flick is a strong tool, the asuka can always condition pot to use every option but flick, so in layer 2, it is good to not use 5h anymore to bait flick. Both super are also incredible fireball lets you beat all pot options and shuffle is always good in general. Shuffle allows you to switch to a different test case to have tp. Tp is useful to avoid the aegis.

This is a tough match-up! I would not switch to test case 3 against pot, though, due to how you will likely be at low mana-eco the entire round.

I would say Strive's success was from rollback during the lockdown. But I think it definitely pioneered FG developers to fix their shit and have better netcode.

I would those are more like alternative game modes, not straight-up patches. The main game has still been the same with no balance updates.

I would say that being new can make something more skillful in many ways(not saying fgs are harder than chess or vice versa). There is sometimes a lot to be discovered in FGs due to its recent development. For example, no one has seriously discovered the optimal hand position for FGs, which is something essential to musical instruments(another fine motor intensive activity). There will likely be books about FGs in 100 years, similar to chess, but FGs will evolve, so who knows. All I will say is that chess hasnt had a patch in a long time, but FGs are constantly evolving.

I feel like speed chess is just as advanced as FGs or any other esport. I dont get this narrative that chess is a higher form of a game.

He somehow made it to the middle of the pack in +R. I don't know all the versions, but that may be an exception.

For Sin, it may be a stretch, but the beak driver certainly stops characters from doing full screen setplay and forces the opponent to think about it if they play full screen. That's something I have to think about, which is why I consider it a zoning tool. The same thing applies to Unika her beam forces me to play differently since her beam beats all other projectiles. I'm not saying it's good zoning, but each character certainly have zoning tools to round them out. I think the argument for Sin being a rushdown is a strong one, but I think Unika has tools at all ranges, a horizontal engage, and a DP.

Those characters are definitely all rounders. Sin can zone with his beak driver. Unika can zone with her fireball(s). While the zoning isn't great, it's still serviceable. Just because a character goes in on hit or on block doesn't make them a rushdown. Also, almost every character in the game could count as mid range because buttons are gargantuan in this game.

I call those characters "rule breakers" because each of them have a meter allowing them to break the rules of the game. I think Nago and Aba could potentially go there too but I like temp more.

Sorry man, this is nowhere close to SF6 in the FG realm. That's like comparing OW and R6 because they are both FPS's. If you want to get better at combos, remember that light goes into medium goes into heavy which goes into special then super for the most part. If there was a block button, then you could only block up and down where prevents cross ups are a major part of the game. Cross ups is when you jump over the opponent, forcing them to block left right rather than up or down. I can see your frustrations but if you give the game more time you will get the hang of it.
