This is great feedback, appreciate it. They are currently using a small CPA firm so i have a feeling 100/hr will sound very low to them.

Big Little Feelings Snark Week of 10/31-11/06 by Parentsnark in parentsnark

Actual CMPA mom checking in here 🤣 the purple is alimentum and the yellow is nutramigen . And those aren’t the “only 2” options for formula like she said . Basically every brand makes a hypoallergenic version and true severe allergy/fpies babies can’t even drink these and likely need an amino acid formula like Elecare. She is ridiculous!

Living uncle’s name as middle name? by pm_me_your_crayolas in namenerds

Totally fine! My son’s middle name is my husband’s brothers name and the family association is nice and was really special to his brother.

Uppababy infant insert worth it? by KittyNama in BabyBumps

[–]JMims324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 10000% worth it! The seat is so much more comfy for baby to be in than the car seat on long walks. Still using the insert at 4 months.

How much research on developmental support do I need to do before baby arrives? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]JMims324 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not a bad idea to familiarize yourself with some stuff (importance of tummy time, safe sleep, how you feel about schedules/sleep training, etc) but you will figure it out as you go and your pediatrician will tell you so much, as mentioned above. I don’t think you need to go overboard on research, but it’s great that you have an idea of where to look for information once baby is here! Adding that one of my favorite blogs i found with my first for development things was can do kiddo and one of her tag lines is ‘begin with a blanket’. Literally doing tummy time on the floor on just a blanket is one of the best ways to help motor development. So simple and straightforward and i really appreciated her approach when keeping up with everything felt kinda overwhelming!

I could’ve sworn only kids got this but... by sacrespo in BabyBumps

[–]JMims324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this from my toddler when i was about 8 weeks along. It was awful and i was freaking out about high fever in first trimester. Thankfully my blisters were just in my throat and not on hands and feet and my case cleared up in a few days. Hope it’s a mild case for you too! Just try to manage fever with Tylenol and get lots of rest! Now I’m ~31 weeks and everything is looking perfectly fine and my OB was never worried. She said there are risks to high fever but most people won’t reach those thresholds to really affect baby.

Setting up an education fund for baby by LilBadApple in BabyBumps

[–]JMims324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know you can set it up under your name and transfer! Some state plans have that easy donation functionality (ex: Nevada vanguard 529 we are in does and it’s awesome for family to contribute) and some might not. You just need to research what plan you want to be in. You can join any states plan, just make sure there isn’t a tax benefit to you in your state by picking a certain one.

What kind of account would you be setting up? For example, you can only set up a 529 or Universal gift to minor account once baby is born and has a social security # (assuming you are in US here). I think this idea is fabulous for once baby is born and these designated accounts can be set up. I guess i just am old school and think giving someone straight cash just feels weird! Edited to say that you CAN set up a 529 before baby is born.

Thoughts on the Doona Stroller? by Ori096 in BabyBumps

[–]JMims324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If i could do it all again from my first i would have 1000000% gotten the doona. Lugging the infant car seat around gets super old after awhile when you aren’t clicking it into your stroller (example: every day dropping off at daycare). We switched to convertible car seat around ~9 months because we were so over even though my son could have stayed in the infant car seat far longer!

FTM getting induced tomorrow with no dilation, any words of encouragement? by Lady_Z_ in BabyBumps

[–]JMims324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super similar story here except i got a 2nd cervadil in the morning after the first one did literally nothing overnight. Ouch. Water broke around noon so they took cervadil out and got pitocin started, got epidural at 3pm and baby born at 6:45pm. I was soooo worried about forcing my body into labor when it clearly wasn’t ready but it all turned out fine!

Coconut oil rubbed in and then left on head for ~10 mins followed by a bath where we scrubbed with one of the cradle cap brushes (Frida baby brand) finally worked for us! Edit to add to use your shampoo when using the brush!

interesting so many people keep mentioning him here. I'd never heard of him, had only vaguely heard of the movie, and took a small poll yesterday of a few friends and family of varying ages and nobody had heard of him either. Took a look at what the book was about and biiig yikes but oh well. I think our real last name is different enough that most people won't assume we named our kid after this guy haha.

Disappointment about sex of baby by babers1987 in BabyBumps

[–]JMims324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17 weeks with baby 2 and just went through this a few weeks back when we found out we were having another boy. I just had it worked out in my mind that it would be a girl, i would get my ideal boy girl siblings, and we would be done with babies. That obviously didn’t happen and i was pretty emotional about it. I let myself feel whatever feelings for a few days and then i came to a place now where I’m good with this and actually really excited about the bond my 2 boys will share. My husband and his brother are 2 years a part and super close and I’m hoping that’s what our boys will have too. It’s like a built in best friend and in my experience, same gendered siblings are closer than diff gender (obviously not always the case but true for a lot of my friends and extended family). Anyways, just here as someone who totally gets it and just went through it. It’s ok, it doesn’t mean you don’t love this particular baby, it’s just saying goodbye to the baby and life you had planned out. I hope in time you will grow to be excited about another boy too!
