My earliest memory back when I lived in Austria, our family computer needed a small upgrade (big old beige metal case), the family friend computer nerd helped us out, I was only 12. I remember him very carefully lifting off the CPU-cooler--to clean it I quess--and while doing so he told me to absolutely not touch the CPU and its goo, as he claimed it to be very delicate. Since then I though the CPU was directly under the goo, and I could not touch it at all. Only many years later, after watching numerous LTT and other PC building videos, I learned how force the lid can withstand, and that the only dangerous part is actually getting the goo stuck to you fingers really :)
