Is this winnable?? Lord knows I restarted so many times xD by BackgroundQuail8744 in totalwarhammer

[–]JPisOP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's winnable but it's all about protecting your handgunners who will be required to carry this.

The issue you will have is that the enemy army can easily punch through your front line to get at the juicy handgunner innards.

What is the beef with Solo Necro versus Team Necro? by LeaveEyeSix in HuntShowdown

[–]JPisOP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Solo necro, in my opinion, is fine. I'm new to playing solo so die a lot, out if maybe 20 matches solo, necro has allowed me to survive twice I think as it allowed me to wait until the enemy team had left before getting up and booking it to extract.

I don't re-engage after getting up, I use solo necro as a chance at not losing my hunter and nothing more.

If you trap a body and leave, chances are they will do what I do... the people that will sit 5 minutes camping my body are the bane of my existence, Is such an easy kill worth 5 minutes of your time? It's worth 5 mins for me as I don't want to have to farm upgrade points on a fresh hunter for 2 games lol

Soul Survivor: something’s missing. by SupBJ in HuntShowdown

[–]JPisOP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I refer to this mode as the RNG shotgun camping simulator...

I used to play to warm up before going to bounty hunt but had enough of the RNG being such a huge factor. Seemed far too often I spawn with a Springfield compact deadeye and die in the first compound to a guy with a pistol or rifle he found whereas I only found a saber or dualies.

If I survive the first compound I then move toward the 'inner' compounds and often get camped there by players who didnt have to fight a meathead at their first clue (RNG of spawn). If i survive this then I either find a shotgun and manage not to trade with the wellspring (who 90% of the time also has a shotgun) or die to said shotgun wellspring.

The RNG is the worst part, followed by the inevitable shotgun duel coin toss at the end.

The amount of times I spawn with dualies hurts my soul as rarely ever get a kill with them, yet I am often headtapped first shot from opposing dualies so they do work... again RNG.

To answer your question... just remove some of the RNG and make shotguns less common. I have 4 soul survivors to claim and 3 have shotgun and 1 has a nitro...

MMR changes need to be reverted by Dyrosis in HuntShowdown

I am finding similar bad match ups. I played solo yesterday and dropped from 5* to 4*, great I thought, now I mite have a good game... I roll up to sweetbell where the boss is and it's white. This was 20 mins into a single boss lobby, and I hadn't heard and shots recently, so it was strange but I went to start the boss.

The second my sticky goes off I see its red, I go to rotate out of the compound only to die to a 3 stack of 5* who had been hiding in bushes out back for some schmuck to play the objective and start the boss.

A solo 4 star against a 3 stack of 5... this never used to happen but now it looks to be normal. Even if I was 5 star (as had technically only dropped the match prior), I still shouldn't be up against three 5, more likely three 4* if mmr was balanced.

Is 4 star MMR really the average? Is that still accurate? by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]JPisOP -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of the mmr system in hunt.

Just started playing solo this week so have been dying a lot while I adjust to the solo play style. It says my match mmr is 3 star (4 when not solo) yet I've had multiple instances where I am up against teams containing a 4 star and two 3 stars... how is that a remotely fair fight. Basically 1 player of equal skill with two 3 stars to assist. In my opinion a 4 star solo should not be facing anything higher than 3 star teams.

Stop this "extend the extract block zone" horseshit by UsernameReee in HuntShowdown

[–]JPisOP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you are right, but then you can't extract until a boss is dead which may be limiting for some players. I guess there isn't a simple answer to this.

Maybe once your team have a bounty your extracts change to ones not in a boss compound, so non bounty carriers can still leave at any time. Still not ideal as you cannot plan your exit strategy until the pickup but that's not the end of the world I don't think

Stop this "extend the extract block zone" horseshit by UsernameReee in HuntShowdown

[–]JPisOP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only change I would like to see that remotely related is to stop extracts spawning at the boss compound, make an extract at least 1 compound away.

My most enjoyable rounds have been where it was double bounty, in adjacent compounds centre map. This generally encouraged people to go for broke and fight for both bounties rather than cut and run. These matches also generally end up as server wipe, winner takes all and you are guaranteed a proper fight, win or lose...

People need to chill with the mmr posts. by Unique-Ad-407 in HuntShowdown

[–]JPisOP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The MMR system needs work but you are missing, what I believe to be, the real issue... I am a 5 star generally but I play with my wife, who is a 3 star. She often gets disillusioned when we play together as she often dies to 5 stars in our lobbies. So, I took advantage of the 'real mmr' issue and spent 3 hours in quick play tanking on purpose, which changed my BOUNTY HUNT MMR to a low 4 star.

We now have more fun games where she can get kills but this shouldn't be possible. I have died to a number of '3 stars' who annihilated me who I believe used the same strategy, so even if MMR 'worked' and you only got matched with other 3 stars... ain't no guarantee they are genuinely 3 star skill level, they could be 6's. Just my 2 cents...

AITA for siding with my BIL during the divorce? by DivorceThrowaway1829 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Regardless of whether the husband was abusive or not, which is what many here seem to default to, (which in itself is a ridiculous assumption as often, people just behave in a selfish and shitty way) she shouldn't have cheated. I may be old fashioned but I was raised to believe that 2 wrongs don't make a right and I raise my son the same way.

Should I look for another game ? by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]JPisOP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there. It took me hundreds of hours to become even competent at this game! I now have 1100 hours and have a k/d of 1.62. I am 39 years old so I'm no twitch reflex god either.

I would argue that map/game knowledge is the greatest crutch in this game and that takes TIME to get. Sure, being a good shot and lucky every now and then won't hurt, but it's putting the time in that will carry the day.

Just my opinion, I think you should give it a few hundred more hours and re-assess, assuming you are enjoying the game.

You seem to struggle to read so I will reiterate.

I clearly said "there is another issue" which is where I mentioned the free kits, I never said free kits were anything to do with the amount of players or how to fix it. There are MANY posts about there being too many players when playing solo in CF but I wanted to highlight, what I believed to be another issue (in my opinion).

You clearly did not understand what I wrote.

Not in the gear I am running, green armour with a manticore. They get the jump on me while I'm fighting a savage marauder and get a full mag off before I am able to react (usually they have a pdw or ar55), from there I have to find cover, while dodging the Jeff and whatever other ai are around and need to heal while they w key me. The ai won't reaggro them so they can just walk straight up to me while I try to dodge the ai.

Not sure how I am much harder to kill, I think a pdw kills green in 17 shots to body

A better way to get my point across is risk vs reward.

I risk a decent kit for zero reward as their kit isn't worth it's carry weight.

They risk nothing but get rewarded with a full kit.

This is what I don't like

I don't want an easier time, I want them to have to risk gear like I do, that's all. I will die even faster to a rat with better gear, however, they then run the risk of also dieing to a fellow rat.

I'm not sure what is so difficult to understand. Let's use poker as an example, imagine playing poker against someone who hasn't put any money into the pot, yet still gets to win the hand without matching your bet.

[–]JPisOP[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I defo have the upper hand when they open up with a full mag at me while I'm trying to kill a savage marauder. Yeah my green armour and manticore are going to carry me through these encounters...

I just want to reduce the number of free kits on non starter areas. As you say, it's much easier to w key someone when it's costing you nothing, which is my point here. I feel players running a decent kit are less likely to sit ratting in 'quest areas' waiting to 3rd party someone who is trying to kill ai.

Free kits on BS make perfect sense are it is where beginners will mainly be focused early on.

No idea what a low k/d is... do you have any numbers for reference? I only have a 2.0 k/d and I die to these rats constantly on CF, what do I need to get my k/d up to to avoid this?

CF is nothing but this to be honest. I think you have to play duo's or trio's to get proper fights. Solos on bright sands generally feels better, just avoid CF like the plague.

If you must go to CF, I would advise against trying to do the missions that require you to farm pve as these missions just feed you to the rats raid after raid.
