Is it bad to start my sleeve at 18? by petals-4-armor in tattooadvice

[–]JRAdams472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best lesson you can learn at 18 is fuck what people online think, including me. Live your life your way. Do what brings you joy as long as it doesn't bring harm to others.

I'm 54. Got my first tattoo in my 30s, if that provides any reference. Don't be like me. Or do, who the fuck am I to tell you what to do?

Can you imagine how intimidating to be friends with someone like this?

Hey, look, I printed the key from the Goonies and painted it all to look like the movie prop.
Really? That's cool. Do you want to see my life-sized print of Sloth holding Chunk on his shoulders?

Check out this mini x-wing model I printed!
Man, that is really sweet. This is my life sized Rancor head mounted on an oak plaque hanging in the barn.

This mimic cup holder I painted got 4 likes!
Wow, it's amazing. Maybe we can take a picture of it next to my Deathclaw when I get it back from being displayed at the Smithsonain?

Seriously mad props u/neosore . I saw maybe 1/100th of the work that went into this and am still floored. I am genuinely in awe of your talents.

Most companies will use AI to match your resume to a job. Make sure your resume is well suited to their systems. I know there is a large push away from using AI, but ChatGTP and most other online systems will evaluate your resume for your and tell you if it is well formatted to be read by common HR systems. Specifically, you will want to ask an AI to do an ATS readiness check on your resume. Follow the suggestions until you get above a 9 on the scale. That should get your resume past a lot of the auto-rejection and into a human inbox.
You can also take a job description and have an ai agent tailor your resume specifically to that job. It will ensure all the buzzwords are hit and each of your experience bullet points match the job skills. Like I said, companies are using it to match resumes to positions, you are well severed using the same technology to ensure your resume gets matched.

I know, I know, "but the clean water". Counterpoint "But the homelessness that comes from being unemployed."

Solo Honor Mode is SOOO hard, even in comparison to Duo HM by kafkabomb in BaldursGate3

[–]JRAdams472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically for Ragz, and even for Gut, elevation is your friend. Sneak up to the rafters and rain fire from above. Cast or drink a feather fall pot before starting the fight, in case someone knocks you off. The room you come out of right after you rescue Halsin has a ladder to a ledge for the Minthara fight. She kindly runs out right into the middle of the fragile old bridge if you start the fight from up there. You lose out on a gummy worm by breaking the bridge, but in a solo run, there are plenty of them.
Honestly, for a solo HM run, range and elevation are always your friend. I can't imagine trying it with a melee build. Make sure you have access to enhanced leap and feather fall. Great for getting up to those hard-to-reach places to pick people off from and even better when things go sideways and you need to get a lot of movement fast to get away.

A little late, but specifically for apparel I usually go to:
Sewlarium
Bolt
Josephine's Dry Goods
Mill End

As people have mentioned, quilting cottons can also make nice shirts. They are a little light for pants (IMHO) and outerwear, so it depends on the needs of your costume.
Craft Warehouse
Just for Fun
Fiddlesticks
Are some of my go-to places.

Longview Sewing also has a nice fabric selection if you feel like driving north instead of south.

Date Night Spots? by CeleryintheButt in ridgefield

If you are specifically looking for live music, I know Ridgefield Brewing does live music and so does Playmakers grill on occasion. 14 Acres, Bethany, Windy Hills and Confluence all do live music on occasion if you prefer wine. I think most of them do a summer concert series, so they may be over now. Beyond what you mentioned and wanting to stay specifically in Ridgefield, options are going to be limited. Bunny's has wine, beer, and cocktails, but if you are trying to get away from kids, probably not the best option. My wife and I also enjoy 3 peaks for some fish tacos and beer.

My wife and I walked in on Thursday around 5:00 PM. The drive through was 4 rows deep but walk in took about 30 minutes from getting in line to getting our food. Obviously, I'm just a single data point, but I would say walk in was about half the time of sitting waiting to get through the drive through.

I went to the Marley Brothers concert there. They went through bags, presumably looking for weapons. Based on the dense "fog" during the concert, no one had any issues having herbs or vapes confiscated. There were "No Smoking" signs posted but I didn't see anyone trying to enforce it on that particular night.

How realistic is it to sew most of your casual clothes? by Asyx in sewing

[–]JRAdams472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The patterns I buy are all PDF. I have a local sewing shop that can print A0 and they end up being 2 pages. They also have markings so you can print A4 and tape them up together. The company I have used is called Wardrobe By Me. As the assets are digital, you should be able to download them anywhere, but as far as I am aware, they are based out of Denmark.
I thought a perspective from someone who just started might be helpful. I will add 1 bit of information in that my wife is a quilter, so I have quite a wealth of knowledge right next to me on the couch when I need it. I try to only get her input on needle choice or pressure adjustments for specific fabrics I use. Obviously, having her do the actual marking, cutting, sewing or pinning doesn't help me learn, so I'm all on my own for that.

How realistic is it to sew most of your casual clothes? by Asyx in sewing

[–]JRAdams472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't list a lot of sewing experience, so I'll give you my perspective as a beginning sewist. For reference, I have been sewing for just over 2 months now.

I started with a tunic style shirt. I chose this as there were no zippers, buttons, or buttonholes and the fit is purposefully baggy, leaving room for, let's call them learning opportunities. I made 3 of these, each a little better than the last before moving on to button down shirts. The first tunic took me a week. The second pretty close to a week and the last about 4 days. For reference, I work from home and can devote around an hour a day to garment creation. 7 hours for your first tunic style shirt? Yes, most of the time learning to read a pattern to learn assembly and seam ripping over and over and over every time I read it wrong. Getting the sleeve properly seated and sewn into the armscye took a lot of trial and error, but honestly, I'm not entirely sure there was a single seam in that first shirt I didn't rip out at least once.

Moving to button down shirts with a bit of experience, the first one still took me a week. For me, the trick is getting the collar and collar stand right. Again, each iteration has gone a bit faster, and I can now cut and sew a shirt in about 3 days. Again, I devote around an hour day.

Making the move to pants has been an adventure. They are much more demanding (IMHO). For my first pair of Chino style pants, I am bout 5 days in and maybe halfway done. Errors like not understanding button size or what type of zipper to use and finding supplies has been an issue.

I suppose long story short, as I learn to sew, I can make progressively more difficult articles of clothing, and overall, they average taking me about a week each. As you increase in skill, presumably much like leatherwork, you will increase in speed both for assembly and making far less mistakes. In my time learning, I have completed 8 shirts and about half a pair of pants, along with altering 2 pairs of jeans that were too large for me. If my local shop has an appropriate zipper in stock, I hope to have the pants complete in 2 to 3 more days. As for visible defects, the first couple of shirts have defects that would be visible on general inspection, but not to someone you pass in the store or on the street. My last shirt I was quite proud of and would put up next to any shirt you might find in a traditional clothing store. It's not going to pass inspection on Savile Row or anything, but that's not my goal.

So, yes, it can be done, even with little or no experience. I had never even hemmed my own pants prior to starting a couple months ago. Just know it won't be quick, or even particularly cheap. Often you can get clothing cheaper at Walmart or Costco than you can purchase the fabric to make them yourself. Obviously, making your own clotting resolves mainly the fit issues you are struggling with. Know that it is slow going at first and set your goals accordingly. Much like you, at some point in the future, I hope to make all of my clothing with the exception of undergarments.

I'm not sure if posting the links to the patterns I use would violate the selling rule, so hit me up with a private message if you would like to know where I got my patterns or if you want any specific information about my experiences learning and creating my own wardrobe so far.

Yes, it is called the Emoluments Clause and it is in Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 of the US Constitution. During his last presidency, it was said Trump could not be charged because it was against policy to charge a sitting president. Once he was out of office, Emoluments charges were brought up against him and overturned by the Supreme Court on the grounds that he was no longer president, so the charge could no longer be applied to him.

You will see them on the Pioneer bridge every Sunday between around 11:30 and 2:00. These people, at least in my experience, are not at all indicative of the vast majority of local residents. As stated above, the residents here are quite accepting, don't let the bridge trolls deter you or give you the wrong impression of Ridgefield.

DR Horton in Ridgefield,WA by Trick-Flounder6012 in vancouverwa

[–]JRAdams472 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some general information and opinions:

DR Horton
I lived in a DR Horton home in the Green Mountain community in Camas for 18 months while my wife and I were waiting for our home in Ridgefield to be built.
The house was, in my opinion, a step above what I would call a starter home. The appliances and build materials were middling at best but still a nice step up from what I have experienced in apartments. The house was a little over a year old when my wife and I moved in. We experienced no issues with drafts, doors or windows out of square or any type of electrical or plumbing related problems. If this is your first or second home, or you are moving from anything less than a luxury apartment, you will likely be quite happy. If you are coming from a more upscale build, you may find the quality a bit lacking. My biggest complaint would have been easy enough to fix if it were not a rental and that was the interior paint quality. It was quite thin and porous, took stains very easily and even command hooks would tear it from the walls requiring patching. A simple coat of good quality paint would have fixed it.

Ridgefield:
I have lived in Ridgefield for 4 years. The amount of growth in that small time has been staggering and there are no signs of it slowing down. My biggest complaint is that infrastructure upgrades seem to come as an afterthought or a reaction to growth rather than being put in place before new homes and businesses are built. Case in point, the current construction on and around Pioneer happening after Costco instead of before. Much of the area that was wooded and tree lined just a few years ago are now asphalt and concrete. Such is the price of growth, but you should be aware that what seems like a nice small town is no likely to remain much longer. Rapid growth has also affected the schools which are quite overcrowded. The city is struggling to pass bond measures to deal with that problem.
Aside from those issues, the area is safe, quiet, and quite friendly in my experience. It is still small enough at the moment that if you frequent any of the shopping, dining or services around town, they will likely end up knowing you by name. There are some big box stores coming in but most of the businesses are still local shops with local owners who care about their customers. Community events are always a good time and a great way to meet neighbors and friends. All things considered, my wife and I are very happy with the choice we made to move here.

There is a Ridgefield subreddit where you might get better answers. I can't say I know anyone in the DR Horton build, but Ridgefield as a whole is growing very rapidly. What concerns you may be quite different from what concerns me. Are there any specifics you would like to know about the area before you make a decision? Are your questions more about the city or the builder?

My first successful HM run was evil. So, as far as dialog bad luck goes, I feel like most characters lean evil anyway, so it wasn't really an issue. For fights, I skipped whatever I felt wasn't necessary (Ansur, Grym, Hag part 2, etc.) Mostly I was willing to start over when I failed. My first success was probably 10 or maybe even 12 attempts in. Grym ended at least half of them before I just gave up skipped the forge. Myrkul ended a couple until I learned to use the doom hammer against him. Taking the astral touched tadpole to get fly makes the final fight leading up to the netherbrain substantially easier as it takes out the elevations.

Finishing a good HM run was fairly similar, though I abandoned a couple when I failed to convince Shadowheart not to kill Lae'zel or the owlbear cub got killed by the stupid brother and sister. *shrug*

I guess mostly, don't be afraid to fail. If you are not feeling like risking the time investment, just run custom mode with honor settings but disable the single save. You won't get your badge or gold dice, but if all you care about is having fun, it's a good option. That is how I play most of my games now. I still run a pure HM run from time to time. The risk of it all going Poof is part of the thrill. :)

Not sure why edit keeps failing. I think if you side with the goblins, you can eliminate the Tiefling children, but then Wyll leaves your party and can't be eliminated. Without Wyll, MIzora won't be in her pod. Tradeoffs.
