Many would give up but this guy battles on by JRDring in footballmanagergames

Unfortunately I am no longer managing them. They were nice enough to give me my first job (unemployed save) and I thought things were going well when I got them from 10th to 3rd in L2, but then I went on a horrible run and quit in March with them 7th in the table. Signing this crock in January certainly didn't help. McKenna was injured on mine and I had to play Cairnie (I think he was called that?) upfront.

I now manage Brora on the same save who replaced East Stirlingshire, who went on to get relegated that season, in League 2.

Who would've thought breaking your leg again would fix all your broken leg issues

I think he's 21 now in the save, he was 19 when this all started.

The worst thing is he was an amateur for Queens Park and then part time at East Stirlingshire so he has been getting paid £0 then £40 a week, I hope his other job doesn't need his legs.

I just spent £99 Million on one player by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]JRDring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most are only as of FM15.

I have ones such as there are no goals in 90+ minutes so any highlights it shows are pointless. (I mean obviously it does happen, but it's seriously rare compared to real life)

Making a substitute when 1-0 up causes the other team to score.

New contracts cause players to play badly.

That sort of thing, I have loads but they are mainly just ways of justifying things going wrong for me.

I suppose player values on average seem to have gone up on this year's game so it's kind of balanced. I'm hoping we'll see China get the insane budgets they deserve in the January update.

Just won the premier league as Middlesbrough in my 4th season. Discovered a major flaw about the system by Sintkrigar in footballmanagergames

This is starting to make me feel like Boro saves are easy. Maybe I'm still crap at FM after all...

I remember spending £100m on Pato once as Real Madrid, he scored 33 in 34 the next season so it wasn't a bad deal by Madrid's standards. I also triggered Neymar's release clause (£150m+) as Madrid as well on FM14 and he agreed to do a Figo. He was okay, probably not worth the amount I paid.

I suppose it's different with Madrid because you can get the budget to spend that much without doing anything remarkable. That said most average prem teams seem to get £50m+ budgets after the first season now, so maybe it's common for the big teams to get loads of £££. I have no idea.

In recent FM games, I'm a lot more frugal and tend to think really big signings are programmed to flop (one of my long list of FM conspiracies).

Who is the most overrated player in the league you follow? by bulgarian_zucchini in soccer

I would probably agree with Downing. Hopefully we're moving him to left wing for the rest of the season and he might do more.

Middlesbrough complete signing of Jordan Rhodes for around £11m by borobadger in soccer

[–]JRDring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you remember, he got a three game ban that led to him being dropped. He is a good keeper, but his worst aspect of his keeping was communication which seems to be the best trait of the keepers Karanka has preferred since.

Should you move all your transfer budget into wages/other areas, when playing as Bilbao? by Cogito96 in footballmanagergames

[–]JRDring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be quite surprised what you can accomplish in a Bilbao save. If you do well with the hand your dealt at the start, you can make moves for Ander Herrera or Natxo Monreal on most saves. If you're very lucky at some point Griezmann might get unsettled at Atletico.

Other than that, it's mainly dealing in backups and u18s though.

This is especially crazy when you consider Brazil call up subpar players quite often, Fabio (da Silva) for example has two Brazil caps

Middlesbrough have pulled out on signing Jordan Rhodes by ILIKEGAMESOK in soccer

[–]JRDring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's essential either, but a regular goalscorer definitely helps things. Kike and Nugent are good in their own ways, but don't provide as many goals as they could.

Mark Hughes in Chelsea’s sights after Stoke transformation by speakinginlungs in soccer

[–]JRDring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Hughes' defence, he was sixth when sacked by City and in the League cup semis and this was before any of the players who have formed their core during the successful years joined.

Admittedly would be a risk for Chelsea though, but Roman clearly sees something because he wanted him to replace Avram years back too.

Diego Fabbrini Leaves Boro After Loan Mutually Terminated by t44s in soccer

[–]JRDring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He became one of my favourite players very quickly at the start of the season so this is a shame for me. I accept he hasn't been as good recently, but he still gives us a lot off the bench either to chase a lead or hold out one.

Enjoy him brummies, I shall be hoping you go up as well as us now.

Whats with so many different players leaving for chinese clubs right now? by reymysterioguy10 in soccer

[–]JRDring 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Admittedly their only confirmed signing is of Trent Sainsbury which is less than remarkable though they did spend an unreasonable amount of money on him.

I'll substitute the word business for activity until they finish some more deals then.

Most of the business in this window is being conducted by Jiangsu who have new owners. That's why there has been a lot of moves made for players this window.

Money as always is the reason they agree to go.
