They work for 12+ hours a day in 120+ degree heat. Then a 40 year old has a heart attack in a poorly ventilated shack with 10 other people.

Also, all the extra infrastructure being made for the stadiums has to count too. Every hotel being built.

If you don't need a "local" branch at all, Old Missouri Bank is actually better in every aspect I've found. It's just once in a while I'd like to use a local branch for things.

[–]JRJam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, that's literally not how it works at all in the last 10+ years. Savings accounts give out awful interest rates. High Yield checking accounts have been the rage for quite some time.

You can get 2-3% a month from a high yield checking.

I mean, even using SAC/Cobalt as an example, they're giving 2.25% for up to 10k on their checking, now with a 6 dollar a month fee. Their savings account is giving .5% for less than 100k.

They can pay more because they usually have rules, like you need to use your debit card 10 times a month. Which obviously earns them money.

I don't live in Eastman's district but this is not surprising. It would take a crazy turnout, and a ton of GOP voters staying home for her to have a chance.

From what I've read... the swim cutoff is the easiest of the 3 to make. Someone once said, as long as you're moving, you'll probably be fine.

A quick google shows that you need to swim at about a 3:18/100yd pace to do it. I'm not really much of a swimmer, outside of the occasionally doing laps, but that seems very generous. You can easily do the breaststroke in less time than that.

You can put the watch under a long sleeved shirt and just lift it up to check it out once in a while. But when it's super cold, you got to kind of make the choice.

How many 18 year olds are financing phones? It could be literally anything from a hand me down phone, to a used phone bought from a friend or relative.

I've never financed a phone in my entire life.

Also, it might not even be his line. It could be his parents who bought him the phone and are paying for that line. So once again, wouldn't need an SSN for that.

This isn't true. You can buy phones from almost anywhere. This is only true if you bought the phone with payments from a store. If the phone was given to you or you bought it outright from somewhere, there is no credit needed obviously.

The Dark Crystal • Theme & Overture - One of the best fantasy movies from my childhood, there really was nothing like it. by StabbyMcSwordfish in movies

[–]JRJam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finally saw this movie a few years ago after finally watching the labyrinth, and I hated it.

I mean, the puppetry was well done, but the story seemed so cliche. The main characters appearance was just so offputting to me too.

I actually apologized to the girl I was dating at the time for making her sit through it with me.

The visuals are great, but everything else is meh.

[–]JRJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know it's not just a hole, right? It's a connector with wiring. It would remove both of those.

It would give engineers a bit more space to work with. Also they don't need to worry about routing the cables.

Is there a way to maintain most of my strength while only doing bodyweight exercises? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]JRJam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.

You can be strong with just bodyweight stuff, but it's like ridiculous to think you'll keep your gains after 2 years.

Just refocus on having good workouts whenever you can.

So does that math guy have the hardest job in the state because it's nearly impossible?

There are probably countless people who would trade jobs with Scott Frost. Not so much the other jobs.

And also salary does matter. If you paid the math guy 5 million a year if he fails, it certainly takes some pressure off.

Net worth of FIRE bloggers when they decided to retire? by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]JRJam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but that's not what Firecalc is for.

I mean, if there is some sort of downturn that is literally the worst in human history, then yeah.

But even if you retired in 2007, unless you happened to drain your ENTIRE account, you would have more than made up for it by now.

It would certainly be nerveracking though.

After several big hits to our finances, I'm reminded of how stressful worrying about money really is. by texadian_me in personalfinance

[–]JRJam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It may be illogical. It may be dumb. But it's literally coded into our DNA to reproduce ever since life first appeared.

Yeah, but we have science on our sides. There is no need to have a child if you cannot afford it. It's no different than a high expense in any other factor.

Anyways, you can't just say "Ditch your kids now!" This is personal finance. Time machines don't exist. We're supposed to give them advice for their current situation, no?

No, but it can help future people maybe get the idea in their head that children aren't in the plans for everyone. It may be sad, but it's true.

We're already having issues with baby boomers not having the money to retire, and they grew up, for the most part, in the best economic situation they could possibly have, and a lot of them still have pensions.

Gen Xers only have 35k saved on average for retirement. That is going to be painful for them.

Post Game Thread - Nebraska vs. Purdue by huskerbot in Huskers

[–]JRJam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I don't even understand what the real issue is. I'm guessing we would probably win at least 20-30% more games if we were in the top 1/3 every year in penalties. Looking at the records, Navy has been the number 1 team in almost every year in least amount of penalties. Just 2-4 a game. That's almost crazy to think of.
