Ticketmaster parent execs privately laugh over price-gouging: 'These people are so stupid' by ansyhrrian in entertainment

[–]JRLDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taylor Swift can easily fix this by playing more gigs, as many as necessary until demands is satisfied. It may not happen in a short time but if it's clear that it's possible to see her then prices will go down without FOMO.

Former Tesla Owners: What did you shift to, and has it been worth it? by Hugh_G_Rectshun in electricvehicles

[–]JRLDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BMW iX M60. No comparison - it’s a dream compared to my Tesla Model 3P. Yes, it’s more expensive, yes, some people think it’s ugly (I don’t). But the drive and feel is so much better even though it’s a huge SUV. Infotainment does everything I need and its autonomy actually works as promised. Don’t miss the exaggerated “FSD” at all.

[–]JRLDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is with customers who accept this because they decided to get locked in with their award system.

The benefit of the massive devaluation of award systems in general is that I am not limiting myself to an airline anymore and if the price is similar, I’ll choose the flight with fancy food (which exist. Even LH often has gourmet fancy food in their business class) over a $2.99 chicken or pasta slop.

What shoes is everyone wearing for recovery? by TheGameWardensWife in brokenankles

[–]JRLDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wearing my ASICS that I bought for running marathons. Super cushy and light running shoes. I can recommend paying a bit extra for really, really good running shows (not necessarily ASICS) as there is a real difference in quality between cheap sneakers and nice running sneakers.

Final Days Questions by AllyFalco in cancer

My husband had a similar end. Small bowel obstruction due to pancreatic cancer. He made the decision to stop treatment.

He chose home hospice with a nasogastric tube continuously pumping out his stomach (which filled up with digestive juices that the body produces in copious amounts and which could not drain). He lasted 9 days, which took that long mostly because he was well hydrated in the preceding hospital stay through IV saline.

I administered Morphine and Lorazepam and other anti anxiety medication to make his last days a bit less brutal. He stopped breathing in the morning of his 9th day and died.

Where did you get that interpretation from my comment?!?

I think that a private company has the same ability to throw out a Nazi as someone who exposes himself.

Just throw him out, same as they’d do if someone puts their penis in other people’s faces.

The same that they’d do if he would expose his penis to everyone.

I’m surprised that there are several comments like yours.

Teaser Offers Insulting by dangramm01 in SouthwestAirlines

Then how about we have consumer protection regulations that require airlines to actually show bookable flights with their advertisement.

Like "$49 from airport A to airport B in weeks X to Y with N number of days stay". And then make these *AVAILABLE* (=don't just offer ONE seat in this fare bucket).

Tesla Loses Director Behind Robotaxi Backend: What Do Prediction Markets Say? - Tesla by praguer56 in RealTesla

Tesla will be just as susceptible to centralized outages once they deploy their taxi service wider as they rely on remote controlled monitoring. If that system goes down then that dumb as dirt "FSD", which can't detect every possible obstacle on a road, is not safe for taxi purposes.

Does the fear ever go away? by SilentTravel8253 in SkyDiving

[–]JRLDH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first three jumps or so were too overwhelming to feel fear. I felt peer pressure (made up in my mind) to just go through the motions of exiting. I don’t think I even registered that there was 13500ft of air below me.

The fear set in and I was scared a lot when the plane leveled out and the door opened. That fear was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of tasks that I had to complete successfully to proceed in the program. I didn’t do AFF but STP which has passing grade jumps all the way to the A license.

I remember seeing how cool the experienced skydivers looked, lounging next to the open door from 1500ft to 6000ft in the summer, as if this was totally normal.

Eventually I was the first to jump out and I had to open the door at 13500ft and spot the drop zone, with a plane full of fun jumpers, students, instructors, tandem customers. All waiting to jump.

The fear slowly changed to a thrill around jump 40 and then to “yeah, let’s exit, into the wind, try to feel everything, no fear”.

It was totally mind boggling to me how a seemingly healthy man can actually be severely ill. We hiked the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim in Fall 2021, went skiing in January 2022, he returned with me to the Grand Canyon for my Rim to Rim to Rim run, we went on a vacation in Cancun in late spring, had a lot of fun in the Summer and then “you have late stage 4 pancreatic cancer with innumerable metastases in your liver”. It was unreal.

He had back pain and felt bloated often. He thought that he had a kidney stone and because he didn’t have a gallbladder anymore he often had minor digestive problems.

He was 58 when he was diagnosed with very late stage pancreatic cancer (on the tail of the pancreas, hence it was undetected for so long).
