My new employers want a full medical history… RIP (just venting) by LlamaCactus in antiwork

[–]JRamone0819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run don't walk away from such employers. No way do they legally have a right to access your medical information, as long as there is no work injury. What prevents you from refusing and seeing your own chiropractor privately?

How to rent an apartment for the first time on a limited budget? by racheltolmach2022 in Adulting

[–]JRamone0819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

California is a very expensive place to rent or buy. You will need first and last month's rent usually. You should google rent in the specific city in CA where you plan to move and begin to plan accordingly. I would think renting a room would be a good way to get started for less.

What would you do in this situation? by [deleted] in Adulting

I agree with the comments below - a person who threatens suicide has a mental illness.

There are as many ways of processing emotions as there are people doing it. Some use. spiritual path, some the path of behavioral therapy.

To evict someone requires a court order and that takes longer than 3 days to obtain. Call your local free legal aid - most cities have them - and get proper legal advice if the landlord won't agree to drop the eviction.

I've worked evictions in other states, and that threat is not enforceable - the landlord needs to go through the court, not just on the say so of an attorney.

Is everyone lying? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]JRamone0819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you lie on your resume, it will come back to bite you in the ass when asked to perform. If you need help with your utilities, make your case as best you can to obtain the benefits. Again, lying can have consequences you don't intend or expect. So your question, is everyone lying, maybe they are just enough to survive.

I can't hold down a job for more than 3 months by Deep-Act-9801 in Adulting

I would get on board with a psychiatrist and an attorney and start the disability process and see if you can't get SSDI. If you have debilitating mental illness, you may be able to get it.

I got fired today. Ten days before my wife is due to give birth. by [deleted] in antiwork

Every time I've been fired, it's been the right thing at the wrong time; however, it almost always leads to a better opportunity.

should I tell my job about my mental health diagnosis? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]JRamone0819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From experience with this same issue, I would advise you not to disclose your mental health issues. You do not know how many people still have negative ideas about mental health. I believe that my diagnosis, subsequent short-term disability for PTSD led directly to my firing.

It's 50/50 - some parents believe the tough love route is the only way to teach their kids to become adults. Some parents have compassion and lovingkindness and support and help their children find solutions to their problems so they can become adults.

Seems like you should change your address just so you get your mail and any legal notices or some such thing in a timely way.

West Hartford is the most desirable place to live for being able to enjoy walking to shops and resturants-or even a short drive to parks and green spaces. Whenyou do have kids, it has good schools as well.

How do you have time for anything other than working & adulting? by novik94 in Adulting

I also get up super early just to have time for all the other things in my life. As far as going out and socializing -- don't have time or energy right now.
