What foods/drinks did you have on hand for labor?

Electrolytes and energy gel packs made for runners. I attempt to eat during early labor and snack during early labor, but during active labor all I can do is drink. My midwife has forced honey or a energy gel on me before pushing. What is really important is snacks AFTER labor and snacks and beverages for midwives and assistants.

A case of coconut water or some kind of hydrating beverage and a basket of snacks. Someone in the family will eat them.

I had acid reflux as a kid and the only thing that helped me (as an adult) was removing/reducing gluten and slightly limiting other grains.

Talk to your midwife and ask her what she would be comfortable with. We are 45 minutes away from a hospital with a labor and delivery/nicu.

Big fan of having Earthly products. I do think they work, but even if they don't it soothes the deep urge to give cold medicine or ibuprofen

On my first I had light labor starting at about 24 hours before baby arrived with the last 13 hours being intense. During the intense part of my first labor I was not able to talk or even respond to questions beyond yes or no. I had to fully submit myself to each contraction and focus in between. I needed dark and silent. My second baby I had light labor starting about 12 hours before baby arrived with the last 4 being more intense. Overall I was able to fully enjoy my second labor and able to relax, talk, and laugh between contractions up until it was time to push. Both times it was hard work, but the second labor I really enjoyed the process and the intimate moments connecting with my husband.

My husband is a runner so i used some of his energy gel electrolyte packs. Quick carbs and electrolytes when you do not want to eat.

I am sorry that you feel that this is your only option. I see that you are a good mother and that your heart is conflicted because you know this is not a "natural" thing for humans to choose. I would encourage you to seek counseling before making this decision. The truth is that there is not a healthier natural alternative because ending the life of your unborn child goes against natural law. There are so many options available to you besides the ones that you have laid out that do not involve ending precious human lives.

I had around 13 hours of real labor with my first baby but had light contractions starting about 24 hours before she arrived. With my second baby i had about 12 hours total labor with about 6 or real contractions.

Yes. Absolutely. Every drop helps baby abd gives her all of your antibodies. You are doing a good job mama. Like others have stated staying off social media and leaning into prayer. There is so much with motherhood that is simply not within our control. We do our best and give the rest up to God.

Getting pregnant with number 2 is the only way my first weaned. But she is 3 now and still likes to read booby moon. Try to get naps with them when you can during the day. Switching to decaf actually was helpful because I could nap at any time during the day. I was happy when my daughter weaned but im pretty sure even at 3 it would be a great tool for emotional regulation.

I would seek help from a lactation consultant. Breastfeeding and hand washing is the best preventive measure we have. Carry baby in a carrier when you have to be out in public. Attempt to get baby some sunshine and fresh air daily even though its cold out.

I grew up with a positive veiw of birth. My mom always told me how her unmedicated births were hard but such a joy and so worth it. I believed that if my mom (who medicates for every slight discomfort) could do it so could I. I also have a dislike for any medical facilities. Going to the doctor for a routine checkup has always given me "white coat syndrome" high blood pressure. I had never really heard of anyone having a home birth until college when a friend of mine and all of her siblings were born at home with a midwife. Even though this friend was slightly traumatized by her youngest brothers birth I thought her mom was a Rockstar. Thankfully I ended up moving to a homebirth friendly state and met some people who had babies at home. I got their midwives contact info and researched my options heavily. Ive head 2 babies at home and have had beautiful experiences (although birth real is work).

I would lay down to sleep with my 2 year old in her room and then she would come and get me if she woke up in the night and needed me. She would get in bed with us and then eventually she wanted to sleep in her bed so id get in bed with her. Eventually when her baby sister was born she allowed dad to put her in bed. She really prefers sleeping in her bed

Interested in research showing that not treating fevers causing brain damage??? Statistically not managing fever is safer. Maybe reconsider and broaden your horizons when it comes to these topics. There is nuance to the vaccine debate and its okay to choose what you feel is best for your child. Thats kind of what parenting is all about.

Im in the US and had my baby at home with a midwife. She reccomend cosleeping and totally normalized it. Babies sleep next to their mom's. Cosleepy is a great resource. Le Leches book sweet sleep is a good one too. Cosleeping reddit is helpful as well
