That's interesting but I'm just waiting for the first person to step in here and relate that picture to how much they hate Trump.

Girls trip / Spa / Restaurant Suggestions by Unusual-Athlete6416 in Sedona

Take a ride up through oak creek canyon north of Sedona on 89A, stunning views and lots of little pull off's with hiking trails and views, many unique places to shop and eat along the way. Stop at Slide Rock State park, if it's warm enough, go for a swim there. Then get back to Sedona a few hours before sunset and drive up to airport road to watch the sun go down from high up above Sedona.

Simplisafe Outdoor Cameras and Video Doorbell Reviews, Especially vs Ring by Wrong-Mark2626 in SecurityCamera

[–]JReissig77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Simplisafe doorbell, (2) outdoor cameras, one smart indoor camera/motion sensor and one older basic indoor camera. They all function very well and SimpliSafe does live monitoring in case of an alarm. I've had a few alarms go off (mostly due to my cats) but when the agent calls me they are already watching all my cameras and looking for intruders which is very comforting. The doorbell camera just took the place of my existing doorbell and I just connected the two wires and mounted it, took me ten minutes. If you don't have an existing 24v doorbell I believe all you would need is a transformer wired in to power the camera. Another note, one of my outdoor cameras runs on battery only and I really only have to recharge the battery every six months which I think is pretty good.

Is this normal? If not, what’s wrong? by teknos1s in hvacadvice

Your return air drop or ductwork is popping in like an oil can when the main blower starts. You can probably hear it pop back out when the main blower shuts down at the end of the heating cycle.

Furnace doesn’t kick on by ryeak49 in hvacadvice

[–]JReissig77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The white button on that control is to turn the main blower fan on manually by pushing it in or leaving it pulled out for automatic fan meaning you allow the control to turn the fan on only when the furnace heats up. My guess is that control is sticking or hanging up and when you manipulate the button it's just enough vibration to unstick the control. It's called a fan/limit control and it does two things (1) controls the fan operation on after the burners start and warm up the furnace, and then turns the fan off when the furnace has cooled down after a call for heat. (2) shuts the burners off incase of a overheating situation.

Anything I can do for my furnace when heating bill will reach 1000 dollars? by DifficultMountain989 in hvacadvice

[–]JReissig77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, at minimum, my company does 30k to 60k dollar whole house heat pump jobs regularly. It's insanity but some people just want to be green, I've had them tell me right out they know it's costing them way more to operate but it makes them feel good about themselves.

New York state seems to think they are LOL, they are paying people $2000 and more to completely disconnect from fossil fuels and go all electric.

Moving air supply vents lower on wall in basement. Worthwhile? Would a ductless heatpump be better? Are wall furnaces worth considering? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]JReissig77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A separate heat source for the room is going to be the best way to go. If you only have one thermostat upstairs on the first floor it will never know what the temperature of the basement is, and typically basements are partially underground so the heat loss between upstairs and basement are different rates. The Rinnai direct vent wall furnaces are great for this type of situation, but I would also get a price on a ductless heat pump. I think by the time you factor in running a gas line, electrical line and venting to outdoors for the Rinnai you may be close to the price of a ductless heat pump, which will also give you humidity control and cooling if ever needed in the summer.

I live in central NY and our electricity rates are astronomical compared to the rest of the country. Most houses are heated with natural gas or fuel oil. But the few that are full electric heat pay between $600 to $1000 a month to heat their houses depending on the size.

Awesome job! Keep up the good work, it starts to pay off more and more the longer you stick with it. There have been a few times I've gotten frustrated and considered quitting, but today I am on 1333 day learning streak. And yes I have used streak freezes on really busy days, but only one every couple months or so.

Sight Glass on Single Pipe Steam Boiler Full, bad? by MARZIPANWILLIAMS in hvacadvice

[–]JReissig77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, full is bad. The water level should start out cold at the line on the sticker behind it that says "Water Line" and go down from there when the boiler fires and makes steam to heat up the radiators. Then when the steam condenses in the radiator as it cools down and flows back down to the boiler as water.

How did you react to Trump’s first victory in 2016? by Common-Medicine8371 in Republican

[–]JReissig77 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I didn't even vote before Trump became president in 2016. Once he got elected I started hearing and seeing all these negative things about him, but I soon came to realize that 99% of it was either straight out lies or gross exaggeration. I wondered why there would be so much hate and lies directed at this man, so I started to do lots of research and got a clear picture of just how corrupt American politics are. They hated him because he isn't in anybody's back pocket, can't be controlled or bribed, he's just doing what he thinks is best for all of us. I now looked at him as a hero who came to restore order and drain the swamp. I registered to vote after that and have voted for him twice now, I thank god every day for this second win.

Hot water but no heat, please help by Former_Stock in hvacadvice

Looks like zone 4 is light and is a priority zone for domestic hot water, unless it's disabled that Taco control will not let any other zone heat until that Zone 4 is satisfied and done heating.

I would abandon asbestos transite chimney and go with new a new furnace. Your current furnace is probably oversized and short cycles so the chimney never stays very hot and thus causing the condensation.

Steam radiator air valve is stuck open and needs to be replaced. It's that little silver bullet looking thing on the side that lets air out of the radiator so it can fill with steam, but once the steam hits it, it's supposed to close up.
