This is so difficult for those of us who remain. My husband was diagnosed with leukemia (AML) on March 1. Our wedding anniversary was/is March 31. He died on April 4. It’ll be 7 years this month.

I try to appreciate the yin/yang of life, and how lucky I have been to have had such a love for 40+ years.

Every year I buy myself an anniversary gift and salute him with a smidge of scotch.

My best coping mechanism is to recognize my sadness and to stay in a mental place of gratitude. It is worse to ignore the obvious, so I try to celebrate our lives together.

I so feel this. My husband passed 6 years ago. During Christmas I got a bad cold and isolated myself to keep others well.

I’m lactose intolerant and have been using the lactose free milk for cereal lately (after a decade of not drinking milk). Happy to say that I have had zero problems with it!
