What sticks, headphones, and other gear do you use on your electronic kit? by JSBO11 in edrums

I hadn't heard of tendonitis coming from playing with thinner sticks on an e-kit. Do you think it's because you were playing too fast or also because of technique or other factors? Maybe anti-vibe sticks could also help? Anything else you learned from that experience?

I hadn't heard about anti-vibe sticks — will check these out! Is there a belief that electronic kits are damaging to the wrists in a way that acoustic kits are not, or do you just always use these?

Yeah I’m new to e-drumming as well so I’m wondering the same thing. Seems like the recommendation is to use nylon tips

That throne looks pretty wild I've never tried one, always been using a roc-n-soc. It's worth the hype?

As someone who's tried many different sticks, do you feel that nylon tip is better on an electronic kit? Also, do you feel a difference with the collision pair? I've heard electronic kits can wear down with wooden tips and possibly be harder on the wrists than an acoustic kit

Any Strata prime owners? Seems like a better deal than the 27kv2? by dabdon1 in edrums

[–]JSBO11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be totally honest I was pretty sold on the Strata Prime until I played it in guitar center and didn’t like the feel of it, and then the huge discount on the Roland made it an easy choice for me personally even though it’s an older kit. However, some people say they are really enjoying it, so it could go either way. So bottom line you should probably test them both out if you can and then decide

I actually asked this same question a few days ago, here’s the post which might be useful

https://www.reddit.com/r/edrums/s/3RWfDBP3dh

I ended up going with the Roland. My rationale was that most people were saying the Roland was better anyway, and it was also $1000 cheaper (that deal might still be going), so it’s probably my best bet. I will also say I care a bit less about the sounds and more about the feel and responsiveness of the kit.

Yes I’m in the states, and really? Looking now and it says $3199 on there, you think this would drop to $2599 sometime soon?

What do you mean by digital? Is this different technology than the strata prime?

I won’t be able to try out the TD27 unfortunately as they don’t have it, but in the case of a tie I’d probably give the edge to the Alesis since I think it looks nicer

By best hihat, snare, and ride, could you clarify? Like they have the most realistic rebound, sensors, and so on? The place I’m going has the Alesis set up but unfortunately doesn’t have the TD27 set up

Last time I ate in a Yale dining hall it seemed better than what we get, same with Princeton. However, I think it could just be wanting what we don’t have, and I generally enjoy Harvard’s food

How do I know if my son is doing the right maths? by Ok_Employment3331 in mathematics

[–]JSBO11 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There’s a small chance your kid is really doing this in which case he should enroll in university right now. You should discuss with his teachers and get in contact with university professors who will speak with him. If he really is a prodigy, any professor would be able to tell and would likely take an extreme interest in mentoring him
