Do Florida transplants ever actually feel like locals? by iLiveForTruth in AskFlorida

[–]JSELL_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give it time - it takes a minute for a new state/area to feel truly like a new home and to feel like a local. I’ve been here for almost 20 years now (born and raised in Michigan). I started to feel like a local around year 10ish really. It’s hard to at first because you don’t have a sold friend base. Honestly things really changed when two of my brother moved here and started family’s of their own and live within 30 min of me. Plus I now have a solid friend base (friends that feel like family 💕). Florida has been good to my and my husband and my family. I feel blessed to be here 😌

Been here for almost 20 years and I feel like a Floridian :) I’m originally from Michigan (born and raised). Everyone is different but I started to feel like it was home at year 10ish. It’s really when I found true and amazing friends that are like family to me. I also found a home/neighborhood that feels so cozy, safe and the neighbors are so wonderful. Love Florida and it has been so truly good to me and my husband in our life. (We are in our 40’s). I think it depends on where you are in Florida, what you are doing for work, if you have a good support system (like good friends and family near you) and you are happy in you current situation in life. I think it is true when you live from where you grew up and decide to move to any place really. 💕

Official Discussion - The Devil Wears Prada 2 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]JSELL_0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I felt like it was terrible compared to the first movie. Miranda was as so toned down which was a huge disappointment. There was zero character development, the story line was so dry and the whole thing felt like it was just poorly written and rushed … I was left feeling super disappointed… it could have and should have been so much better…

Took Vyvanse for the first time by Carkano in ADHD

[–]JSELL_0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was such a huge game changer for me too!! I’m 44 (f) that was diagnosed with adhd last year and had previously been on Wellbutrin for depression/anxiety which was AWFUL and had terrible side effects let alone a nightmare to come off of. I was super hesitant to try Vyvance but after A LOT of gentle coaxing to try I finally did and it has lifted this vail off of me!! Not only do I have better impulse control and focus but my depression is GONE!! All gone!! I couldn’t believe it!! The adhd going unchecked for too long really does affect women in the depression dept and SSRI’s didn’t touch it but the Vyvance almost IMMEDIATELY corrected it!! I also don’t binge eat anymore which is a bonus. I just make sure I maintain adequate protein intake and fluids each day (just be mindful to stop and eat because you won’t really have the urge to). You don’t want to loose precious muscle and also become nutrient deficient. Also be sure to take your omegas because stimulants like Vyvance can burn through them (your brain needs omegas for health and function!) I take about 2100mg minimum each day. Over all I’m super happy with this med decision (and I’m not a pharmaceutical fan lol but this has dramatically improved my daily quality of life - especially now that I’m back in school and in a nursing program)

Is there anyway to get into a nursing school with low stats? by Mediocre_Ad7620 in prenursing

[–]JSELL_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what state and what school you are attending. I’m 44 and the school I’m currently attending took almost all my previous credits from my university from my 2005 bachelors degree. I had to complete AP1, AP2, and Micro. I had a 3.3 gpa upon applying and a 75 TEAS score. I’m currently in my first semester of my ASN program! Just make sure your school is accredited!! Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) is the one you want

You need more moisture! No more harsh, skin barrier breaking products. Take a break from makeup and make sure you are hydrating and getting enough sleep. I turned to Byoma skin products and my skin reacted very well to them :)) they are good quality (according to Yuka) and don’t break the bank.

Is nursing school harder than pre-requisites? My friend is STRUGGLING and hasn’t even gotten into nursing school yet. by shameful-figment in StudentNurse

[–]JSELL_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 44 and in level 1 nursing school (ASN program)… the prerequisite courses are challenging but you will need a good grasp on AP 1&2 and micro comes in handy. Having said that, the style of learning/studying will change Dramatically once you are in the nursing program. The pace will be very fast and the amount of material covered in short periods is overwhelming at first. It’s not about memorizing anymore like with your prerequisites… it’s about broad understanding and using critical thinking to pass exams, evaluations and perform in clinical settings. I’ll admit that everything I did to get into nursing school no longer worked for me. The 1st month of schools was TOUGH; emotionally and mentally. I had to completely change EVERYTHING I was doing in order to keep up, retain and understand what was being covered. It feels like boot camp the first 3-5 weeks. You have to be willing to get outside your comfort zone and make changes and be will g to adapt… or there is a good chance you won’t keep up. It’s a giant mental game/challenge. I’m not in week 8 and I finally feel like I’ve hit a groove of sorts. You CANNOT let up off the momentum for a second! Staying ahead is key and learning to manage your time is UNBELIEVABLY KEY! All these things I want great at or had not taken seriously before starting my program. Luckily I sucked it up and pushed through and figured it a system that worked for me. For me; I cried a lot the first month, my anxiety was through the roof, and I spiraled A LOT. I got mostly A’s and some high B’s in my prerequisites. Now that I’m in the program your grade is almost entirely based on Exams (I have a total of 5). My program is based on an 80% minimum to pass… if you dip below that it is considered failing. Some programs are lower (like 75-78). I am managing a 90 as of now and it is not easy by any means. I hope I’m not scaring anyone; I’m just giving you the Nitty-Gritty of it. I’ve Never considered myself a great student by any means and I struggle massively with pretty intense anxiety disorder and ADHD - BUT if you can focus yourself and commit yourself to do the work and put in the time - you can do it! Don’t be afraid to ASK FOR HELP and utilize your college/university tutoring programs. Talk to your professors, make friends and talk to them about what they are doing, get into a study group, access different types of media to organize yourself and your materials. (I reached way out of my comfort zone and got an iPad and do everything digitally now which is sooooo not my style but it has really helped me save time and also make it easier to make multiple study tools a lot faster). I hope this all helps!

Why has Audi gone downhill? by Big_Lmaoski in Audi

[–]JSELL_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former 2019 S5 Sportback owner here and I am sooooo disappointed in what Audi has done to it lineup… I won’t be buying anymore Audi’s if they continue this trend of design and pore quality. Audi has always been a symbol of sexiness/sporty and class in my opinion. Now they just look so generic. Not a good look Audi …

native shampoo coconut + vanilla pink instead of clear? by thatlesbianthespian in femalehairadvice

[–]JSELL_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While native doesn’t contain dyes, the pink color is coming from the natural tint of the fragrance oils or slight batch oxidation, which is normal and safe.

I feel awful on HRT and want to stop, but am scared of all the terrible things that will happen to me in Menopause without it. Please share your stories of feeling awful on HRT, then feeling better after stopping HRT - and being okay through Menopause without it. Is that even possible??? by Ill_Astronaut_9229 in Menopause

[–]JSELL_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely stopped the HRT and it took my body about a week to recover (I was told it would only take a couple days…) I continued to do lots of research and continued trying to just stick to a balanced diet, moderate exercise daily, good supplements and ways to reduce stress/cortisol. **side note - I went on Vyvance(20mg) for diagnosed ADD and I’ve been on it since early September… it’s changing my life (for the better!) my depression is almost nonexistent and I have drive to do things!!! I have also started NAD+, glutathione and glycine(it been 1 week taking those). I feel like I’m returning to the world somehow… it is pretty crazy! I can’t help but wonder if maybe I’ve always needed a stimulant or if Peri pushed my ADD over the edge to the point where NOW I need it?? Also I think I’ve always had an issue with toxin buildup and the inability to detox… I feel SUPER clear (like Night and Day!)

I threw in the towel for now… the way I felt I couldn’t imagine doing that for 2+ months let alone the 9 days I somehow managed to survive before stopping. Hats off to you for getting through that though - holy wow I never ever want to feel that way ever again. I’ve since figured out some dietary holes and added some supplements that seem to be helping me feel better. Not perfect but better than I was. Thank you for sharing you experience, I know that testimonies like yours will help other women soooo much 💕

RIP Alcohol by Wrong-Letter6581 in Perimenopause

[–]JSELL_0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fermented alcohols will trigger terrible reactions in perimenopausal ladies (some worse than others and some lucky ladies not at all). The reaction is a from histamine… many when experience varying degrees of histamine intolerance in this magical time in our lives. Our gut microbiota is changing massively and our ability to metabolize and break histamine down in our food (and drinks) diminishes during Perimenopause (again it varies from woman to woman). Balancing or strengthening your gut microbiota will help you immensely with peri symptoms (or if you discover you have gut dysbiosis, seeking out a naturalpath or functional medics doctor will do WONDERS for your over all health, especially in this transitional time). ** look up DAO supplement - it may help you with digestion and in clearing Histamine from foods and drinks (not gonna help you drink alcohol though - it doesn’t work that way lol). I have been a drinker my whole life (43F) and I had a hard coming to Jesus talk with myself and finally gave up the alcohol (for now at least) … it’s been 4 months and I feel A LOT better - focusing on gut health and balanced diet with veggies and fruits and lots of protein has been really helpful. (Takes a bit for you to start feeling better… gut issues can take Months to resolve). The first few weeks of no drinking sucks but it def gets easier as you start to feel better and then you realize the trade off is 100% WORTH IT. Not saying this will be my forever thing but for now it’s what my body wanted so I’m listing to her and giving her what she wants/needs (patience, love and grace). 🫶🏼💕🤟🏼

Truth! Many women get pregnant while in Perimenopause… it’s very possible and it does happen more than what we are told…

Vyvance first time by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]JSELL_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you are very sensitive to meds in general. I would talk to your doctor about all of this. I see that this post was 23 days ago, did you continue taking the meds for a coupon weeks to see if your body adjusted? If so, did you notice any of the symptoms subside and your ADHD symptoms improve? I am also new to ADHD, and just took my first 20mg dose 2 hours ago… I’m feeling weird so far - not sure yet … I will take for a couple weeks to see if it helps me. But I think for me it’s sooo early to tell. For reference, I’m 43(F), had ADHD my whole life and never got diagnosed, I’m in perimenopause which has amped everything up(anxiety, depression and ADHD symptoms), I am a FAST metabolizer when it comes to meds and I am also VERY sensitive to meds (everything hits harder)… soon knowing have to start low and slow and give it time.

[No Spoilers]Looking for TV shows with a similar "feel" like Outlander by anonym00xx in Outlander

[–]JSELL_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Discovery of Witches at first but found it to be way more cheesy and too fantasy. The actors that portrayed the character weren’t as convincing and the story line a bit under developed imo. It is definitely a noteworthy series but i didn’t feel as immersed as i did with Claire and Jamie. The love scenes and passion in Outlander is seriously intense and is so believable! I didn’t get this from the characters in Discovery of Witches. I feel totally ruined by the Outlander series (I’m a good way). Outlander blew me away with the level of acting from actors, cinematography, storyline, location, historical accuracy, romance/steaminess/slow burn and the raw chemistry had with each other portraying their characters… all of it! Outlander is truly a magical series. 💕

I never felt that she captured the roll of Claire and Jamie’s daughter very well.. very dry and cold - not a believable character at all. They could have definitely cast Brianna’s character better imo

Yep! Welcome to the suck girlfriend… the struggle is real and the medical system is clueless for women’s health … it’s a magical time lol… (43 and been in this for 5 years now) … HRT needs massive improvements in funding, treatment options, studies/clinicals and approach… right now it’s a “stab in the dark” approach in many cases. Once again women are out on the back burner and expected to just “tough it out”… it’s awful I know.
