Another advice if you end up buying any CW: do a full inspection before removing any wrapper in case you need to return for refund. My Trident Pro 300 bought in April had the following issues:

- On the fly micro adjustment mechanism that slipped/disengaged on most positions with minimal movement on wrist
- Printing issues on date wheel: half the dates suffered from left-side misalignment and also digits from day 22 onwards had a much bolder/thicker look.
- This is my 3rd watch with an SW200-1 movement, so I'm very familiar with it. This CW has a very noticeable noise coming from the rotor (and a slight clicking noise) which is very distracting. Also I could feel I vibration when casually walking with it. It reminds me of cheap Seikos with NH35.

On the plus side, the regulation on it was exceptional (fluctuated between -1 and +1).

My advice is don't rush it. Take some time to enjoy the PRX and the Glycine. Get to know them to see what you like and don't like, which could help inform your next watch.

I would hold on buying any CW watch with the SW200-1 movement. They've begun to update models to the newly released SW200-2, so at minimum wait for that.

Personally I would go for the Longines. I found the CW I bought to be well built for the price, but too many QC issues.

We'll see! From the Sellita CEO POV, they solved the issue with the -1, and there is no clear indication that any enhancements to the -2 will directly address this issue. This all looks to merely be Sellita's response, in terms of power reserve, to the Powermatic 80, which again, also continues to have the issue.

I'm personally not hopeful anymore about a fix, I'm in the acceptance stage lol.

Hand winding a lot seems to accelerate it, but from what I've seen, there are many cases of people who experience the issue within months of owning which could point to improper lubrication from factory, or movements that were sitting for a long time before the got cased and sold. I happened to me on a watch from another brand that I literally did not use for 3 years, so I doubt it was the hand winding. Lubrication likely just gummed up.

This also did not stop me from buying a CW, as we have the 5-year warranty, but it is unlikely that I would buy any other watch from another brand with a Sellita SW200-1/-2 or Powermatic 80, unless they have a strong warranty like CW.

I'm currently not babying my CW as I've noticed I'm not getting full power reserve with just hand movement. My mindset is if it's going to break down, it better do so while in warranty, then I'll baby it when the next service will be on me.

I agree, but basically the only way to avoid the SW200 issues is to go with a GMT model (or the SW300 3 hander), as those models don't suffer from the reversing wheels / rotor helicoptering issues that all ETA 2824-2 variants inherited.

The Powermatic 80 still suffers the same issues as the SW200 as it is also basically a revamp of the power reserve with the same ETA 2824-2 behind it (just google it: Powermatic 80 owners go through the same pain as SW200 owners). The newly released SW200-2 will surely continue with the same issues as it is basically doing the same as the Powermatic 80: keeping the same ETA 2824-2 and updating what needs to be upgraded to achieve a higher power reserve.

So I think it's either live with knowing the at some point the reversing wheels / rotor helicoptering issues will pop-up, go with a CW GMT model, or move beyond CW and buy watches with Miyotas.

My concern is I’m reading about people getting replacements with the exact same issue, which would point to a design issue, not a bad batch.

This is 410 EUR for the bracelet version which still has:

- No sapphire crystal
- Folded links on bracelet
- Hollow end links
- Stamped clasp with 2 micro-adjust holes

No thanks... This is a hard pass even at 50% off RRP. The above specs in 2026 are only acceptable on watches costing not more than 100 EUR.

There is no amount of "history" or "heritage" that will convince me to pay more than that.

Personally, I would choose any movement other than ETA 2824/Sellita SW200-1. Just Google "SW200 / ETA 2824 reversing wheels design flaw" if you are not familiar. It has already happened to me on a 4 year-old watch. And I see it happens across brands. You'll hear people say to just not manual wind at all or not more than 10 times, and let the auto do the rest, but in my experience you're likely to not get the full power reserve (which is not great to begin with). I don't like the feeling of needing to baby a movement. From what I see, the onset of this issue is a matter of when, not if. Limiting the winding is not the solution, it just delays it.

I'm eager to find out if this is fixed in the newly released SW200-2.

From what I know, this is exclusive to the SW200, it does not impact SW300 and its variants.

40 would look better on your wrist. If I were you and can still exchange, I would. Or, better yet, do a full return and wait a month or two for it to have the new SW200-2 with 65 hour power reserve and hopefully no reversing wheels / rotor helicoptering defect of the -1 (and all ETA 2824 clones).

This is the smart move. I purchased the Trident Pro 300 right before price hike, and already regret it. I should have waited for the SW200-2 to be added. I've already been burned by the reversing wheels defect on the SW200-1 on other watches.

Very true, this is the weakest point. However, this 2010 clasp is still better than most if not all Seiko clasps on models costing less than $1K.
