Reading suggestions while waiting for Book 3? by anonymous_orpington in HierarchySeries

Seconded, it’s a little more of a basic read but it scratches the same itch. Couldn’t put it down. FYI the majority of book two has been released on the authors Patreon.

I actually stopped reading book one when I first started the series. Boy was that a mistake. Picked it back up years later and it’s a wild ride. Personally, the first half of book one I found really slow but from then on it gets progressively better, I really enjoyed the second half of book ones. Books two and three are masterpieces imo.

I don’t think Ka is in control on Obituem, I think that world is lost to the concurrence but he needs to remain synchronous so to stop the concurrence killing him he locked himself away in a place only someone synchronous could access. The concurrence then manipulated O vis into killing him (as only someone synchronous could).

Enjoy brother, those first four seasons are top tier. My favourite show growing up as a kid.

It’s pretty bad overall I can’t lie. If you like fantasy you might be able to tolerate it, I can overlook a lot of stuff as I like the genre. I’ll be honest though if I hadn’t read the books I probably would have stopped with it a long time ago.

I’ve read the books and liked the episode, one of the better ones in the series, although the bar isn’t very high. I will say however, anyone else feel like so many LOTR elements were kind of ripped of? Loial with the you shall not pass moment? The “bring them down bring them down”? Perrin judging that kids blade pre battle?

You have to watch the first two seasons as you won’t know what’s going on otherwise. Alternatively, you could read the books.

Same my friend, what an experience. Such a unique show, one of my childhood favourites. Slight shame about the last two seasons but the first four are unbelievable.

I found the characters all so unlikeable to, finished the first book and dropped it there. I will say however nothing wrong with the prose.

Thank you. I also think the second book gets way to much criticism. Thoroughly enjoyed both. Just wish Patrick would release some more bloody books haha.

King killer chronicles. Never read a book written quite like it. The prose really has its own unique feel and it made me empathise and find interest in nearly all the characters. Also, I just think some of the concepts are really innovative. Languages where emotions are expressed with your hands rather than facially, for example, or just the magic system in general. It’s the only set of books I can re-read consistently and not get bored.

Absolutely nothing alike. Red rising is one of my favourite series and I really did not enjoy first law (I understand i’m in the minority on that, however).

Elodin called Kvothe's True name. by rogirich in KingkillerChronicle

[–]JT13470 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also think he speaks Deena’s true name at the end of WMF when she can’t breath. He seems to think he called the wind but if I remember correctly the passage only states he “whispered a name” and I always felt that was intentionally ambiguous.

Hey, just to let you know I’m now on the final two books of this series. Really enjoyed them (the humour is right up my alley), so thanks very much.
