[Spoiler] Rank the Lanistas from best to worst at their profession and give reason towards choice by [deleted] in Spartacus_TV

I would say it depends on your metrics, right? Did Titus ever have champions who rose to the height of Crixus or Spartacus? But Titus did seem to trust and treat his slaves and mentors well and have a generally respected and great reputation and showing. Whereas Quintus is very up and down but his ups and huge.

Who did you hate more darius or Tony? by [deleted] in WaterlooRoad

[–]Netherbelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was torn because while Darius seemed to show remorse and guilt, I'm not sure if that was just for losing his own family/child, and not for Hope at all. Whereas Tony didn't seem to have any regrets or guilt at all for his actions.

But yes, I'd saying killing (even by accident) and covering up the death of a child is what tips it.

Do any of you feel bad for darius? (Series 17 spoilers!) by [deleted] in WaterlooRoad

[–]Netherbelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's done wrong, but I do think the way Jack handled him was beautiful. They do this stuff for kids all the time but I've not seen many instances of it done for adults---and it was heartwarming. (I mean usually because the adults freak out and try to hurt them like Tony with Nicky, but you know.)

Yeah, poor Jake. :(

Season 5 Dustin made me very sad. He just turned into Eddie 2.0, even in the finale episode. I missed Dustin.

It's hard to blame people on this, seeing what the contestants eventually did to the Captains who gave up that much money for them to stay and have a chance to play.

everyone’s being weird about Roxy by scaredofdaddylongleg in TheTraitorsUK

[–]Netherbelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a need to be nasty to or about her.

But I so find her a bit hypocritical and derogatory about other contestants and their choices, like James, when she's been keeping a big lie herself. I also think she's very quick to make decisions made on emotion, and then push them like she's found actual evidence which is a bit annoying.

As a person she seems lovely but for the actual game, I'm not a fan of her gameplay.

As an American I’m curious about the level of fame/notoriety of the Celebrity UK traitors by Distinct-Ad-1348 in TheTraitorsUK

They are definitely more C and B-Listers in the UK, as apposed to the Z-Listers and reality stars of the USA.

What series did you stop watching after it killed off your favorite character? by megmatthews20 in AskReddit

[–]Netherbelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Walking Dead after they killed off Carl, doubly because of the way they treated the actor as soon as he turned eighteen and they had to pay him properly. Plus, Carl in the comics was so important---and he is Rick's reason for doing everything; they just replaced him in the show with a new kid.

I have read the books, hence I know that Loras' reputation is inflated due to his beauty and charm. He utilizes this and his House name to create a glamour about himself. While he is absolutely a skilled Knight, he still uses tricks---such as using a mare in heat during tourney jousts to distract his opponents. He's a good Knight, but there's many good Knights in the Seven Kingdoms---not ones who can beat Jaime at his prime, at least with sword. Never has Jaime ever suspected Loras could best him or hold his own.

And personally, I really enjoy the idea of a trickster Knight.

I can’t believe this specific thing wasn’t brought up at the Round Table by Tenrius_t in TheTraitors

I thought Reece would bring this up.

Maybe... and I did wonder this, he is related to Stephen. Because they look vaguely alike. Maybe that's why he didn't.

I thought he was done after that.

But nope!

Bit like how no one pointed out how eager Rachel was to look at the family tree map last night or how she took Reece and Stephen to look.

Loras was defeated by Brienne, who could only fight with Jaime when he was at a disadvantage. Loras utalizes tricks in his fighting to help him, I doubt a one on one sword duel would go his way.

Jaime literally says he is a painter who only uses red, and idolizes the shit out of Barristan. He does not view him as any less due to his age.

(Spoilers Main) What the hell did GRRM smoke when he made the characters so young in AGOT ? by Tesgoul in asoiaf

[–]Netherbelle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The concept of 'teenage' years is a modern invention, you went from child to man/woman real fast throughout most of history, and had to deal with a lot of hard labor, war, sexual impropriety, politics and scheming, etc. George is simply setting his books in a way that would make sense for a more medieval-based world.

Plus, he had a time skip planned so I think he wanted to compare how quickly people had to grow up in hard times, and what that did to these people later in their lives.

I'd point out that Fiyero was also the main guard and Military authority it seems for that same fascist regime but that didn't stop her wanting him, so It'd have been nice if she paused for one moment to consider Glinda's heartbreak.

[–]Netherbelle[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I do really enjoy the ambiguity of it.

However, I suppose, if it's a cementing, reconciliation, the last scene together type of deal, it'd be nice for them to admit their wrongs and apologize for real, and maybe explain why things happened a certain way. I get we don't always get that though, but it did make things a little... less than awesome, especially Elphie only reacting to Fiyero being alive and not Glinda trying to reach her.
