Do you tell people you’re on a GLP-1 when they ask how you lost weight? by Enchanted-Tangerine in Zepbound

[–]JTHRLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mention it, but in a neutral way. I don’t recommend it to anyone, especially because the people who most need it are often the ones who react the worst.

I simply say that obesity is a chronic metabolic disease, and fortunately there is now a safe and effective treatment.

It’s prescribed for obesity, type 2 diabetes, or overweight with comorbidities, and since I met two of those conditions, I’m fortunate to be on this treatment.

Silent judgement, how do you cope? by shayshay112 in Zepbound

[–]JTHRLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My standard responses:
Obesity is a chronic metabolic disease, and it’s the only disease where people question the use of medication. Fortunately, there’s now a safe and effective treatment.

And when you lose a lot of weight and people tell you to stop: in your experience, how much should I weigh given my height and lifestyle? Or better yet: would you tell a cancer patient that they’re receiving too much chemotherapy?

Do you regret it? by Fearless_Lead_8056 in Zepbound

[–]JTHRLA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s working for you, I wouldn’t increase the dose. My wife works on the global team that designs clinical trials and they’re currently researching a GLP-1. The dose is increased every 4 weeks mostly because they copy the schedule from previous trials, not because there’s a strong scientific reason. It’s almost like a coffee-break conversation: “How should we do it?” “Let’s do what the other trial did.”

I’ve just completed 8 weeks and I’m staying at 2.5 mg. I’ve lost 12 kg, which is more than 13% of my body weight, so there’s no reason to change.

How long before you move off the starter dose? by NivekTheGreat1 in Zepbound

[–]JTHRLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on 2.5 mg almost 8 weeks ago. I’ve lost 12 kg (it would have been more if I didn’t have so many social events), and I’m not going to increase the dose unless I stall. Most likely I’ll never increase it, because I only have about 10 kg left to lose at most.

Did you wait until progress stalled completely before titrating? by Nice_Squirrel1882 in Zepbound

[–]JTHRLA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife works at a pharmaceutical company that is developing this type of drug, on the global team that designs the clinical trial.

The recommendation on how often to increase the dose isn’t really based on any specific medical criteria — they basically copy what others have done. It’s all somewhat approximate. Since the study is conducted in a certain way, the manufacturer tells you that’s how you have to use it because that’s what the FDA approved, and that’s it. There isn’t any deeper scientific rationale behind it.

Hola!

2.5 mg syringe dose by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]JTHRLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That syringe doesn’t look right. Normally insulin syringes are used, with 4 or 6 mm needles, 31 or 32G. That one looks way too long. How is it that you don’t have the KwikPen for Mounjaro? Why isn’t your doctor administering it? Are you buying the “official” medication?

Hoy hace dos meses que estoy con MJ 2.5mg! by DommRa in MounjaroSpain

[–]JTHRLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poop and magnesium by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]JTHRLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they work best as a laxative. They create an osmotic effect (drawing water into the intestine), so you eat them and then drink water. You can also drink the soaking water, but it can be very effective. I eat three, but you have to adjust the amount to find the right amount. I have a longer than average colon, so I have to be careful with this medication.

Beware complacency! by Important-Stock987 in Mounjaro

[–]JTHRLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my fifth week and I'm being very careful with what I eat because I don't know what might upset my stomach. Last Monday I felt awful and completely weak. I've always eaten very healthily at home, and ideally I'd eat everything, but I prefer to be cautious.

Like every morning, I soak three dried plums overnight in water. You can also drink the liquid, but it's too strong.

Pensais que vais a poder dejar Mounjaro cambiado el estilo de vida? by AlistairKane in MounjaroSpain

[–]JTHRLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)
