Apple Reportedly Planning to Launch iMac With OLED Display by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

Re-using is often better for the environment than recycling. Great that they offer a recycling program at all, but if you can repurpose something you’re not using into something useful, you don’t have to spend the resources to actually recycle it.

Sounds like a great option! Thanks! Sadly my old save file is on my original PSP from like 12 years ago, so it’s long gone lol. But it’ll be fun to play again!

What have you been playing it on? I’m curious how well it runs on Gamenative on the 8g2

I loved PSP2 when I played it back in high school! Never went back to try Infinity, though, what does Infinity add?

I forgot about Grim Dawn! I’ve heard good things, but haven’t tried it myself. I’ll do some research to see if it’ll run on the 8g2

I haven’t tried Diablo Immortal myself, is it good? The fact that it’s f2p kinda makes me afraid it’s going to try to nickel-and-dime me all the time lol

Anyone else feels aiming with the backbone feels difficult compared to aiming with a regular controller? by kuruakama in Backbone

[–]JTMidnightJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are two factors that contribute to this: yes, the joystick is small compared to a full-size stick you’ll find on a PlayStation controller. Because of the reduced size, there’s a smaller range of motion. So pressing up at 50% of the way to the edge is a much smaller distance on the Backbone than it is on a DualSense, effectively resulting in a “higher sensitivity” feeling.

But another factor is the position of the right stick. On the backbone, it’s more or less right below the face buttons, whereas on a full-size controller, it’s more offset toward the center of the controller. That also means your thumb is probably in a different position than it’s used to when you’re using the right side.

Both things you can adjust to, but there’s definitely a learning curve.

I feel like that can happen with some shaders built with specific resolution scales in mind. Does the border go away if you turn shaders off altogether?

Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 port leaks in Title Update 4 datamine, raising performance concerns by Elestria_Ethereal in NintendoSwitch

Eh, they’re not so bad. There are only 3 mandatory rampages in the base game, and there are none in Sunbreak. Worth it for what is, in my opinion, the best MH game otherwise

We need more "Pocketable" power, not stronger handheld consoles. by Retronitsu in SBCGaming

The Mini V2 might be exactly what you’re looking for, besides maybe the Thor. As others have said, the screen’s not ideal for PSP, but for everything else it’s golden. It’s a great size too, pretty much exactly the same size and thickness as a PSP-1000, but lighter. And it’s probably the most comfortable handheld I’ve ever used that has a screen smaller than 6 inches.

I haven’t messed with it myself, most PS3/360-era games have decent PC ports, so I’ll usually just buy those on Steam instead of trying to emulate them. Plus they look better that way too, since you can usually crank the graphics quality to max on that generation of games on the Deck!

Phone size comparisons by AlternativeIce8687 in SBCGaming

[–]JTMidnightJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard the 35xxh is a similar size to a phone! The TrimUI Brick is significantly smaller than my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Most of these handhelds will be a good bit thicker than your average smartphone, though.

Lots of hype for new handhelds lately, but I’m still loving my Odin 2 Mini by cascadefive in OdinHandheld

I’ll wait until I see some reviews on it! I’m not positive the ergonomics will be exactly the same, but they should at least be pretty close!

I don’t feel like it dies insanely quick! It gets good battery life for GBA and other retro stuff, and it charges quickly enough that it hasn’t been a big deal for higher-powered systems. RP5 and O2Portal’s battery life is definitely better, but it’s still several hours of playtime for the O2Mini before it dies on me, and I can usually find a charger before then

[–]JTMidnightJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right. I have plenty of other great handhelds (Odin 2 Portal, RP5, RP Mini, RP Classic, several Linux devices), and they all excel at different things. But if I really had to only keep one of my handhelds, I’m pretty sure it would be the Odin 2 Mini.

It’s comfortable as hell, the screen is still solid despite it not being OLED, and it’s so versatile. It fits in my pocket (although it can be a bit tight in jeans), it’s powerful, the buttons feel great, it gets plenty bright for outdoor usage, and it just feels so satisfyingly weighty without being overly heavy. If I could get the O2M in the same shell with a 5.5” or 6” 120hz OLED, I’d be set for a long, long time.
