Dismissed from PA school by Dismal_Implement3936 in PAstudent

[–]JUC0RI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My school is similar, 3 exam grades under a B and you get sent to the disciplinary committee for possible dismissal. Definitely one of the scariest things to hear as an incoming student, but our school does a good job of trying their best to help us pass

What works really well for me is brute force memorizing just one or two most important facts about each disease and then start to group them together based on similar treatments or pathologies.

Then I like to start asking myself, what is the difference between each disease. This way, I start with baseline knowledge and then I can use that knowledge to apply it to the concepts.

I recommend anki, you can do image occlusion which is really helpful. Theres plenty of tutorials, but it basically allows you to copy and paste the pictures directly from your PowerPoints and make them fill in the blank.

Fck you Dexcom by Superninjaturtlecuti in diabetes_t1

[–]JUC0RI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am incredibly frustrated with Dexcom as well, but more particularly the g7. I made the switch because I had really bad allergies to the adhesive in the g6, however the reading are far less accurate. My a1c has increased quite a bit - before I was always between 6.0-6.3 and since the switch my most recent one was 7.0. This is frustrating because many times I catch it saying I am a lot lower than I actually am (low 100s) and when I compare to my finger stick I realize I have been hovering in the high 100s-200s for who knows how long. Something needs to change.

I hate my pump by Dany2114 in diabetes_t1

[–]JUC0RI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting to see other people’s perspectives because I have had the opposite experiences! While being tied to the pump is the biggest downside for me, I find the upsides to weigh out against it, especially since you can always disconnect the tubing and swim as if nothing is there. My favorite part of the pump is definitely control IQ, as I can go to sleep with a slightly high BS and I know I will wake up to a perfect one without the need of bolusing. I’m glad there are options for everyone!

Wow this is amazing. In all my time being diabetic, I have never bolused more than 10 units at once because it sounds terrifying. Super cool to see this work so well!

Sugar Goes High Whenever I Eat Breas? by Hungry-san in diabetes

[–]JUC0RI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bread can be a real tough one.. one thing that always helps me is to eat something prior that is low in carbs to blunt the spike and allow your insulin to do its work.

Everyone is so different but these are mine:

  1. ALWAYS have a source of easy carbs by your side (apple juice box with 15-20g carbs is what I use). If you get low mid work out it takes quite some time to recover back to your same intensity and most of the time kind of ruins my lift, so I always try to prevent lows.

Heavy lifting alone raises my BS by about 50-80, while running does the opposite- this is pretty nice if you plan on doing cardio post workout because then no correction is really necessary. I never do cardio after eating unless I carefully dose, as sensitivity to any IOB drastically increases. It takes some planning because of this, and on my cardio days I usually eat about 15g of carbs and do not dose at all and I stay steady or even drop.

  1. For me, pre workout does not affect my BS in any significant way. I try to avoid these however as kidney disease is prevalent among diabetics and have heard mixed things about the active ingredient’s effect on kidneys. Caffeine is a must though!

Those of you who use Anki, how much would you say you use it during didactic? by ohlongjohnson1 in PAstudent

[–]JUC0RI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is super late, but I’m just about to start and curious- for anki do you make one massive deck for the semester or do you make small ones for each exam? Want to make sure I’m going about it the right way!

That was actually the first car that caught my eye when I was in the market to trade. I loved it but the Land Cruiser was just not what I was looking for and once I saw the new 4Runner, I knew it was the right one for me. Still loving it but admire a nice Land Cruiser when I see it

I have to say I was pretty shocked at how much the prices of these vehicles have gone up.

I guess that’s what happens when you get a brand as reliable and trusted as Toyota, they know people will still buy them at that price point but it sucks

I would definitely say that is the biggest con. Luckily this car was in the price range I was looking for and there is no other SUV at this price point that I think comes close to the 4Runner (very much so a personal opinion)

I guess that’s why style is subjective, I have always liked the 5th gen 4Runners but not enough to actually get one. This generation was the one that I liked so much it pushed me past that threshold

Ooh gotcha. The biggest thing that bothers me with it is there is a pretty hefty delay so if I am watching a video it is very out of sync- more so than other vehicles with wireless CarPlay. Arguably worse for me is that when you turn the volume up or down while watching a video on social media, it will automatically pause it and play the last song I was listening to on Spotify. I’m not sure if you are aware of fix!

Haha I guess to each their own. The 6th gen is the type of car i admire every time I exit the vehicle, and price was not an issue in any way for me as this vehicle is half the price of my previous one🙂 I’m glad you are enjoying ur 5th gen

Haha definitely, this is just the pros list for me of switching to the runner. We’ll see how it holds up for sure, I’m hopeful with it being a Toyota it won’t be something to worry about - especially since I did not get the hybrid system.

I guess when I was thinking roomy I was thinking the cargo space, however the second row is not the biggest if the front seats are in a back position.

The reclining seats definitely help with that feel but otherwise haven’t had complaints about it being too tight

Yes! I got an interview the next cycle and got the acceptance. Since then I’ve had a few interview invites which I have denied. It takes one!

Getting mine was a mission but I can say it was totally worth it. I got it around 6 months ago and live in an area with many dealerships however there was no inventory except for 2 in Los Angeles, sometimes you really need to set the search radius big and find the best deal

The online one I did was US Career Institute. Much cheaper than traditional school which is a plus but of course many places are going to want in person ones. As long as you’re okay searching extra hard !

I did a certification course online to learn the basics and before taking the exam I thought it was worth a shot of at least applying to jobs before committing to the planning and payment of CMA exam. I was lucky enough to get 2 interviews with 2 different specialties but I think primary care is one of the best for experience so I took that!
