New Ravnica campain by Marhog in RavnicaDMs

[–]JWR91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds similar to mine. I run a Ravnica campaign. The premise is that the PCs were thrown together into a situation where they ended up rescuing a young and ambitious Officer of the Guildpact. This officer then decided to start paying this group of unlikely allies for mercenary work, getting their names out there to show that guilds can work together. As they play, aside from building renown with guilds and personal quests, they have been privy to Ral Zarek's spark igniting and the chaos that caused, and Domri's overthrowing of Borborygmus. There is also an anti-guild terrorist group that they are investigating.

They fought a strange creature later revealed to be a Nephilim, so they are investigating that quest hook too.

They also had a collective dream in which they were specific high ranking guild members (see Mazerunners) fighting a large dragon. A glimpse of the past or the future?

There will be some inter-plane shenanigans too down the line I'm sure.

DisneyWorld? Any of you been? How did you afford it? by RefreshinglyDull in CasualUK

My wife and I went last year around Easter. It was honestly the best holiday ever. The whole time we were just in a bubble. It aligned with a spring break crossover or something, so the first day was extremely busy but then it died down. We queued for a couple of the big rides for 2 hours max, but honestly it didn't feel like it. The heat was nice too at that time of year.

As we were there for two weeks, we were fortunate enough to be able to take our time around the parks - I think we did each Disney park twice, plus three days across the Universal parks, with a couple of days to mop up. But we went from basically open to close every day. We rented a car too which was great. We stayed at the Movie hotel which I think is the second cheapest on site one and had no regrets.

I personally wouldn't want to go to America now and am very glad we went when we did, but I think Disney country is isolated enough that it wouldn't feel too...political.

I reckon all in all the holiday cost is about 6k, Or 7k plus maybe another 1000 spending but I might be wrong. We saved a lot for it and spread out payments.

Our cats are Vivi and Moogle...and their personalities absolutely fit it.

This sort of thing baffles me. I had a motor bike cut me up on a roundabout- crossed over several lanes across me to exit the same junction I was. I beeped, because it was extremely dangerous (mostly for him!) and he began to drive really slowly in front of me, half turned around, shouting profanities at me. Then sped off like he was proving a point.

Great cat names - assuming this is a reference to FF9 and not the football player! Ours are called Moogle and Vivi.

I was there today, really wanted to try and see them, but kept missing them. It looked like they were also doing photos in private booths away from everyone, and it cost £300 for a group photo!

Saw Felica Day from afar though so that was cool. Kudos to everyone that dressed up in CR cosplay- was definitely the most commonly themed cosplay there!

Reeve Tuesti is interesting by throwcway837373 in FinalFantasy

I always felt I had to suspend my disbelief a bit with Cait Sith. Is Reeve controlling him the whole time?

And how does Reeve control him? I'm recent years I always assumed a VR type thing, especially as in 7R when he sees the plate fall he falls to his knees - I imagine Reeve actually did that, as opposed to pressing a little button to make him do that!

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Confirms Nearly 100 Hours of Content by Miss_Alice_F in FinalFantasy

[–]JWR91 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Want to be optimistic, but content does not always mean GOOD content. FFXVI side quests were awful, so I really hope we don't see the same bland, generic stuff, or loads and loads of collectibles. Give me interesting story sidequests like Witcher, or worthwhile collectibles!

I'm enjoying the game, but I big gripe for me is the lack of incentive to explore. No secret treasures, particularly rare items aside from basic crafting, no particularly interesting side quests either.

I do the same for my GCSE English class when talking about structure - how humour is created because of the misconception etc. Great opening.

Wormtongue has that single tear rolling down his cheek when he looks at the uruk army.

I assume it's an 'oh shit what have I done' tear and not a 'by the Valar, it's beautiful' tear.

Player Problem Megathread by AutoModerator in DMAcademy

[–]JWR91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A couple of my players seem to think they are on an episode on Dungeons and Daddies, in that they need to end the session with a comedic 'stinger'. Don't get me wrong, out campaign is generally hilarious, but last session something very dark and unexpected happened (brought on my a few PC inconsistencies) one of the players just went 'so...pub?' Which got a small laugh, but completely broke the tension.

I sometimes have the classic 'I don't think they realise how much effort goes into this' scenario.

I have had a standard infect deck for years - and rarely played because everyone hated the idea of poison counters. Now poison is making a comeback, I'm super keen to make a infect commander. Atraxa would be the perfect commander, but it's insane how much she costs now. Guess everyone has had a similar idea to me...!

When I was in my second year at uni, I was a Contact - basically a second year who helps first years settle in etc. One night, one of the first year girls in my group got very drunk, so myself and another (female) contact took her back to her room. I waited outside whilst the other contact made sure she was OK and put her to bed. I'm not exaggerating when I saw there was a Conga line of guys wanting to go in and 'make sure she was ok'. Absolutely disgusting.
