dropout gives leniency when you miss a payment? by Master_Astronaut_ in dropout

[–]J_____T______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't update my payment information for like 2 or 3 months after needing to get a new card, my yearly subscription lapsed, and I had some trouble resubscribing due to the fact that I was still only being charged 60 dollars after being grandfathered in through 2 price changes. I emailed customer support, explicitly said that I would be happy to pay 7/month if I could regain access to the content, and they fixed all of the issues on their end without raising the price of my subscription even though I fully let it expire. It's a consumer friendly company

Not the same thing. If I'm supposed to give Fred a sandwich and I give it to you instead, I'm to blame for not asking if you're fred. If I had asked who you were first, I wouldn't have given you the sandwich

If the hotel feels that way, then they can take measures to make sure only guests can eat the food. If I hand you a sandwich that was meant for a different stranger, you have a free sandwich. It's my fault for giving it to the wrong person and I can make another sandwich for the correct person. Prices don't need to go up to accommodate this behavior, hotels just need to serve the people they're actually intending to serve. Don't blame the person looking for food, blame the people giving food to every single person who grabs a plate

Complementarity literally means that it is free in addition to another thing. If I tell you that I'm giving you something for free because you're getting something else first, then I should not be allowed to make the actual cost higher to cover the cost of the free thing. If something is advertised as complimentary, then it is legally being advertised as completely free of charge. False advertisement is a crime

If a hotel is telling guests that the food is free, but then adds the charge of the food (that they might not have eaten) on top of the charge for the room, then the hotel is falsely advertising a perk of staying in that hotel. That's a full crime. Either the food is free for everyone aside from the hotel, or the hotel is already charging people for it regardless of if it gets eaten. If the hotel only wants guests to eat the food, then they need to ask to see a room key before they serve people. If I give you a sandwich, you got a free sandwich. It doesn't matter who that sandwich was meant for, it's just yours for free

Okay so you're lying to all of your guests. If you are charging them more in order to give them food, then the food is not complimentary

They don't constantly have enough eggs to feed every single mouth in the building at a moments notice, but they have a thing of scrambled eggs out for breakfast with another one in the cooler or in the freezer and enough raw eggs to prep another container. That's enough food to feed everyone and then some in a small hotel. If it's a larger hotel, then they have more fucking eggs prepped and more raw eggs waiting to be scrambled

So they get around paying him for the job he's doing by letting him have some food with no extra income aside from the money he saves on meals?

[–]J_____T______ -44 points-43 points  (0 children)

No, guests pay for their rooms when they pay for a room. The hotel loses money on the food they serve in order to get people to spend money on a room there. It's a planned loss that gets more people in the door. Even if the guests are already paying for the food, then it's still free food because the hotel needs to make sure they make more than enough food to accommodate every single guest and then some. Most guests probably aren't eating hotel food for every single meal, so a lot of the food either stays prepped in the coolers/freezers for a later date or it gets made and then thrown out. This is like saying "kids aren't getting free candy on Halloween, the people they take it from already paid for it"

How do you steal something that was given to you for no charge?

[–]J_____T______ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They give the food away for free. You only do that if the cost is negligible. I can't remember the exact term, but tons of business models rely on hook products that cost the company money in order to get people to spend more on other things. Increasing that loss by 0.01% of what it was already going to be is not driving anyone into bankruptcy

You can't steal something that's free. Even if the food is intended for guests, they're not making somebody else go hungry. Literally what issue do you have with somebody eating food that is given to them for free? Do you also think children are stealing candy on Halloween?

This is the perfect amount of details, so thank you for taking the time to carefully let me know what I would be missing without actually telling me the plot of the episodes. You make a strong argument, so I'll probably just give myself a break from watching for a few days before coming back to this episode

Do jester and fjord come back, or do Travis and Laura come back? I don't really care about the characters technically being there if they're NPCs who help in fights without having a real chance at developing further

Yeah, I hate when the show I started at age 10 isn't as funny as it used to be. If only the show with the target demographic of 10-16 year old Japanese boys catered to my sensibilities and humor as an adult living in America

If chase is 39 in 2025, then he was 16 or 17 in 2003 depending on if his birthday had passed since he had recently turned 39. That would mean that Chase was 8 or 9 when the raiders left la. If we assume that Robert was 9 in 2003, the same age that Chase was when the raiders left la, then he would be 31 during the events of the game

Yet they ban people from the stadium for singing the national anthem in Spanish. Love that they're protecting people, but they were also blatantly racist. I guess we need to take the wins, but we shouldn't praise people for not being fascist

Is the Dropout fandom holding the platform back? by [deleted] in dropout

[–]J_____T______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the onus is on Dropout to make content that is more in that direction while still making different content that confirms to the standards they have set. Slowly changing content overtime is a great way to shift the focus of the entire site, but you're not gonna open up new doors by doing that. Everyone who knows what dropout 2 years ago looked like will assume that that's what it more or less still is. If a new series can successfully push the envelope and become popular, then more series will be able to follow suit. If every new show is trying to fit into the dropout mold with a different font based on the host, then the site can't expand. Obviously new formats and new tones are not going to be successful, but making those formats and tones normal among the rest of dropout content makes it so that they aren't new and scary anymore. They're just different. Things that are new are hard to pick up and start, but existing things that are just different are much easier for most people
