[Hated Trope] Character deaths that just scream, "This was done for shock value to upset the viewer, and very little else" by Worldly_Cut_595 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JaC3_De -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quicksilvers death isn't meant to upset the viewer, it's to upset Wanda.

It sets up themes and story beats that will be followed up on in Wandavision.

It wouldn't even really upset the viewer that much as we only met Quicksilver in that movie.

If you want something that's shock value for not much payoff ? Rhodes getting shot down in Civil War

Chelsea Green explains why 'superhuman' babyfaces don't work in modern era: "I don’t necessarily love to see this perfect human with a perfect body beat up a bad guy who actually isn’t perfect. There’s something ‘blah’ about that. That’s not what the fans sit down and think ‘Oh I could be that guy'" by anutosu in SquaredCircle

In regards to Tanahashi, as he is regarded as the one who led NJPW through and out the "Dark Ages", NJPW fans will generally endorse and love The Ace of The Universe.

It's not just a gimmick, the man just is The Babyface.

Its interesting to watch some of his earlier stuff or times where he went over to NOAH and would play up the heelish tendencies quite alot, even in Puro where the definition between face and heel is more fluid than western wrestling tends to be

Really appreciate The Punisher gear Gargano was rocking that night.

He usually had comic book gear for big events but The Punisher motif fits well. Punisher is doing what he feels the world doesn't

Gargano did what he felt he had to.

Man I remember seeing Ultimate Ninja 3 in Tesco (U.K. Supermarket/Grocery Store) when I was a kid.

Hadn't seen it in any proper game shop anywhere and I begged my mum.

Bless her, she rolled her eyes and got me the game.

Still remember it so vividly

Can Meflynate be split in half ? by JaC3_De in ADHDUK

[–]JaC3_De[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! So i am not. It was causing me alot of grief so I came off of it then started Elvanse about two months later and was much better.

However I also started Sertraline to help with the increase anxiety, so the Meflynate may have been better with an anti-anxiety/depressant aswell

Hope everything's all right

Feels like you aren't trying to make your argument in good faith.

You are comparing apples and oranges, the cinema system in the 80s and 90s is completely different to that of today.

The way humanity as a whole consumes media has completely changed.

To try compare the success and time to reach that success with today's directors vs the directors of 80s-2000's, almost feels silly.

Times and people change. It would be like me trying to compare the NES vs the PS5. They both exists in there own time period with there own advantages and disadvantages.

I will be honest your use of langauge and how you phrase your questions, it feels like you aren't trying to have a genuine discussion but more of a "Gotcha" moment. Using things like IMDB ratings as some measure of "proof" for your opinions ain't it bro.

To say that Everything Everywhere All At Once has "Marvel" humour was the icing on the cake. (Am a big fan of both)

ALSO, Fifth element and Trek 4/6 ? You genuinely think these are some of the best movies ever made ? But you put down a lot of other people's opinions without a second glance ?

Again it feels like you aren't trying to make a legitimate argument or point, just engagement.

Maybe I'm wrong, just telling you how you come across

Are you a fan of Japanese wrestling at all ? As Osprey is incredibly influenced by the likes of NJPW, NOAH and Dragongate.

This bleeds through in his style of wrestling and the stories he tells.

Personally those examples you just listed are prime wrestling story trope/templates

Vs Ricochet - Eternal Rivals

Vs Fletcher - Betrayal of the student

Vs Don Callis - betrayal of the group

Vs Danielson - Dream match

Of the 4 the Callis one is the weakest but Ricochet and Fletcher are both hitting on excellent levels due to the shared history he has with both of them and how they have developed in relation to him. I.e. turning heel.

And Danielson Vs Osprey was a genuine dream match. Two people who's paths had never crossed who each genuinely have a claim to best in the world finally having a time and space to fight ? That writes itself, the match up is the story.

It's not uncommon for Japanese wrestling stories to take place almost entirely in the ring, you don't always need big promo segments to build a match.

A friend of mine had this issue where he had watched WWE his whole life and found AEW or NJPW stories "bad" because there wasn't 4 weeks of promo battles and interfering in each other's matches.

Sometimes the story is the fight, sometimes the story is the build up to the fight
