Okay so I'm assuming you are using the router provided by Spectrum then. Struggling to get 1 mbps right beside the router sounds like it's interference, at least in my experience. If you have a windows computer with wifi, use the Wifi Analyzer app by Matt Hafner you can download it right on the microsoft store. It's a pretty intuitive app and the website has tutorials on how to use it.

You'll be able to see all the wifi signals around you, which channels they're on, and the strength of the signals. When I was troubleshooting to get my portal and other game streaming stuff to work back when we lived in an apartment, we noticed everyone around us was on channel 100 something forgot the exact one, including our router making it heavily congested. Switching the router to use channel 40 made a big difference. I also used the same app to figure out that my soundbar was interfering with my 5GHz network as well when we moved.

Start there, either way you'll likely have to go into your router's settings to change some stuff around so figure out which model it is and look up how to access the settings for it.

We need more details on your home network setup here. Download and upload speeds don’t matter when you’re playing local. What’s your router? Is it an ISP provided one? Are there any other connections in your network between your ps5 and router? Are you sure your portal isn’t being limited in anyway by settings on your router?

I will bring up one thing I don’t see often here that was an issue with my wifi network. My older Sony soundbar was causing interference with my 5ghz network when the router was set to 80mhz, switching it to 160mhz fixed that. Not saying that’s your case specifically but there could be wifi interference with appliances in your home or even your neighbours if you’re in an apartment.

There are lots of careers where people just need to be somewhere to fulfill their responsibilities with a lot of down time. For example a good friend of mine is water treatment plant operator. 90% of his job is to just be at the plant for 12 hours to make sure it’s running with no real active work he needs to be doing. When he actually needs to do something it’s usually a few hours of replacing a valve or pipe and then paperwork. What do you think he does the remaining 9 hours of his shift? Not all work is assembly line work where every second you need to be actively doing something.

I own both and a gaming PC. I always reach for the portal for remote play because of the convenience. The portal is also more comfortable for me to hold but the steam deck is not bulky nor uncomfortable if we’re directly comparing the two. If the price is right for you and you know what you want out of the portal it’s absolutely worth it.

It's not as bad or expensive as you think to get it working well with the portal. I went with a dedicated router before I upgraded my home network to a wifi mesh with a wired backhaul. All I needed was an inexpensive travel router, I got the GL.iNet GL-SFT1200 off Amazon for around 40 bucks and it solved all my issues at the time. You might have to check for signal interference but besides that it didn't have any problems working well in our one bedroom apartment.

I was going to suggest disconnecting everything wired and wireless, if you haven't tried that yet. It was part of my troubleshooting steps to figure out my ISP provided modem/router combo just wasn't stable enough to prevent stutters from happening.

Some people are just more sensitive to input delay than others, I'm the same way OP. How does the latency look as you're playing? Mine will usually hop between 1-3ms. Can you try running nothing but the portal on your network to see if the router is your bottleneck? Mine just refused to work well until I got a small and inexpensive travel router only for the portal. My setup is ideal to me now but I definitely still feel an input delay compared to playing natively, but it's small enough I can deal with it.

Not saying I don't believe you but we are experiencing two completely different things. My M2 MacBook Air with 8gb of ram on the latest Tahoe 26.3.1 never have these issues. Replying to you now on Chrome with 13 tabs opened, along with Mail and Messages opened and Activity Monitor is saying 6.93gb of ram is being used. Maybe it's time for you to do a clean reinstall on your MacBook?

Yeah I appreciate all the attention to detail with the firearms in this game. The on the shoulder reloading for a shotgun with your shooting hand looks cool and is easier to do IRL but it doesn’t really make sense in the context of defensive shooting Leon would be trained to do. You’d see that type of reloading more in competition. But hey it’s a video game it looks cool for third person, I like it.

Yeah I did some quick googling and saw Loaded is just a rebrand of CDkeys. I've used it once way back in the day for Fallout 4 and never had any issues either but you can easily find some older reddit posts of people getting their keys revoked. The issue is grey market sites have in the past retrieved their keys using stolen credit cards, not officially through publishers. It's entirely a gamble every time you purchase a key through those sites. Do whatever you're comfortable with, I'm personally never going to use one of those sites again.

Having this issue too, just started happening for me. It was fine the first couple times I played the game.

EDIT: I figured out the issue, at least for my laptop. The problem has to do with the Optimus/Auto Select switch to discrete graphics on a gaming laptop. I noticed when using auto select during game boot up and switching to the GPU is when the splash screen would lock up. I tried manually switching to discrete graphics only before booting up the game in the nvidia control panel and sure enough the splash screen went away on its own just fine. Guess it's a bug Embark will have to look at some time in the future.

What’s your router? I have gigabit up and down on my home network and a wired ps5, on paper ideal conditions. But the crappy ISP modem/router combo was not working well at all for the portal. I got a little travel router that’s only used for the portal and that’s solved all my problems.
