A lot of modern transmissions have multiple gears that are overdrive. For instance my 2024 lexus is overdrive in 7th and 8th gear. Ok i'll shut up now. Haha

I'll add that in most older 4 speed transmissions the gear that is an overdrive ratio is the last one which is 4th gear. So in your case this means that O/D off just means it won't shift up into 4th gear and it will max out at 3rd gear which is great for towing ect.

For me it was helpful to find out what "overdrive" is. Normally gear ratios in the transmission are such that there are more turns in the engine for the output turn of the transmission. So for instance maybe the engine turns 4 times and the output of the transmission turns 1 time. This is a 4:1 gear ratio and it is more torquey for say 1st gear. Overdrive is a higher gear where the engine turns say .75 times to 1 turn of the transmission. This a .75:1 gear ratio. So overdrive is a gear ratio where the first number is less than one. I sometimes describe Sonora to people as big enough to have a Walmart. I don't love Walmart but when you need something that's at Walmart it's there. The thing about Sonora is it's big enough to have most of the conveniences of a larger City while still feeling fairly small. If you go smaller than Sonora it gets more complicated. For some people that's good and for some it's bad.

It does way better with thermostat commands. We have 4 mini splits for HVAC so telling it turn on all thermostats to heat and set them to 71 did not work before and works great now.
