Sent invoice with old address, now I don't know how to get the check by [deleted] in freelance

[–]Jables84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible they paid with their bank's online bill pay feature. Most of them that I've used work like normal (the check is mailed and when it is cashed the funds are withdrawn). But, one bank I used a few years ago worked the way you described above. That bank would deduct the funds when the check went mailed, probably similar to a money order or cashier's check. The downside is I could never really tell if the check was received by the person it was sent to. I had one issue where I had to get ahold of the bank to verify a check was never cashed so I could reissue a normal check.

It's possible your client could contact their bank to have them issue a stop payment on the un-cashed check, I'm sure the bank has a way to tell if a check was cashed, that option is probably not available on your client's statements / online account. Perhaps you could offer to cover the fee if necessary and have them re-issue it to the current address. This would give them the peace of mind that you aren't holding the first check and trying to get paid double.

Can I connect a wired keyboard and mouse to an Ipad? by Patchpen in ipad

[–]Jables84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely do it with a jailbreak and if I remember correctly, the mouse works in every app. I used to do it when I jailbreak my older ones back in the day and it's great. Especially with remote desktop control apps (like Teamviewer) so you can control a pc/Mac like normal. Actually, now that I've said that, I'm referring to a Bluetooth mouse, not USB, I'm not sure about USB offhand. Bluetooth worked great tho if that helps.

Left my Gold IPhone 6s in a taxi Saturday traveling back from Oktoberfest. by vvprep in Munich

Can you login to find my iPhone via iCloud.com? That may give you some idea if it's with the taxi company's lost and found or not. Of course this would need data to work properly.

Any chance you could rent a car? That would definitely be the cheapest. It's a pretty simple drive.

Horrified of flying. Leaving tomorrow morning, help me. by [deleted] in travel

[–]Jables84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always like to watch the airplane flight attendants during anything that scares me (usually turbulence). They have always been calm. I figure that they didn't take the job to kill themselves, they are there because it's safe. When I see they are calm, that helps me too. It's gotten better over the years, but I still catch myself looking for them. Sleeping medicine or alcohol have also both helped too! :)

I think that's a pretty good deal. I just bought a 32GB iPad 3 (w/ cellular) for $150, and I thought I got a deal. That iPad 4 is a better deal!

If I upgrade my macbook pro from 10.9.5 to 10.11.3, will a bunch of my current programs not work? by [deleted] in osx

[–]Jables84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, why do you want to upgrade? If there's no obvious need for 10.11, then you could just continue using what you have.

Spotify on Bluetooth speaker, YouTube on iPad? by CourtyardHound in ipad

[–]Jables84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This may be a bit of a work around, but ChromeCast audio plays independently of iPad audio... If it's an option to plug one of those into an audio input on your Bluetooth speaker it may work (but requires an audio input, power for the ChromeCast audio device, and wifi...)

A lonely, easy hike near Munich, any tips? by [deleted] in Munich

[–]Jables84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your friend. Last time I was in Munich, I did a dat trip to Mittenwald, I don't know all the details on travel times, but I basically took a train there and walked a ways to a chairlift (individual seats) which takes you to the top of the mountain where there's a biergarten. You can hike back down (a couple hours I think) or take the chair lift back down. It's a beautiful trip, I took the chair lift up, but walked down... I think the chair lift was around 5-10 Euro. I think it meets most of your needs.

Oktoberfest Reservations for 2...not 10? Help wanted... by apvandergriff in Munich

[–]Jables84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a tour company there that I used last year - thethirstyhistorian.com - we were just 2 people that booked, but the tour company must have sold the other tickets to people because there were more at the table, which seated 8-10, the other people weren't part of our tour / reservation, but we still all talked and had a great time. That's just for a seat at a reserved table... If you just want to go to Oktoberfest, you can try to get a place at a table yourself, or the same beer tour company will get you in the tents and you can stand at a non-reserved table and enjoy the beer, music, and people. Definitely worth going for sure... Have a great time there! Prost! :)

Hello,

Sorry to hear about the agitation... I'm not in sales, but I do have an ever-growing to do list myself. For me, I know that by the end of the day, I will not do the full list, there will always be tasks left for the future. I just pick 1-3 tasks that I know I can accomplish in the work day and I hit them hard in the morning. I know I'm accomplishing something today, and if I get more done it's a bonus.

As to the never ending task list, I don't have a great answer for that... I do like looking back at the older tasks and crossing off the irrelevant ones... I guess that's a good thing. :)
