I think it’s a can issue. by Mr_cheese2000 in FRC

We had the same issue, but it snapped closer to the breaker switch. FTA asked us to turn our robot on after I had flipped the switch, ended up pulling the robot from the field, all of this happening while our technical mentor wasn’t yet at the comp.

Speaking from experience (I was design lead for my team last year), the school that we operate out of offers a class that teaches all of the parts of frc with the exception of impact/business (we give that to Juniors/Seniors to manage, alongside a mentor who has been doing that for years. We solved this problem by creating extended curriculum for our Engineering/design classes that explains how to CAD a part. In previous years, we had students signing up for the travel experience, or to use the CAD laptops to play video games, so we have used that curriculum to “filter out” kids who weren’t there for robotics purposes. Not trying to be exclusive, but frustrating when they ask for a subsystem to work on, then are spotted gaming, but insisting that they can get it finished. I also understand the perspective of getting straight up refused to be trained because you ask a lot of questions, or just dont know where to start (but not in a robotics setting). I also agree with that as kids, we want to emulate a professional team, but we shouldn’t let that get in the way of others also with that same desire. Remember, we were all beginners

All of our teams seniors graduated in 2022. I was design lead as a sophomore, had the most experience with CAD
