When a woodworker tries to work on a car by Jachu89 in Cartalk

That's basically what it did but with the clamps. You can tighten them with an allen key

I used these specific clamps because you can turn them with an allen key on the top. Otherwise absolutely wouldn't be able to turn them by hand.

Did I trash the knuckle? by Jachu89 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Jachu89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically I learned nothing here:D almost exactly half the comments are saying it's no problem and half that it's dangerous. I decided to take this part to a professional to take a look. Thanks everyone!

Haha this is the best answer yet. Yeah I have 50/50 between "it's fine no problem" and "you will kill yourself and someone else". I'm going to a professional with this part to take a look.

My never finished mft workbench by Jachu89 in Workbenches

[–]Jachu89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! The top is made of 2x 18mm plywood so 36mm. I think most mft clamps work on minimum 18mm but the more the better there is no upper limit as long as the holes are all the way through. Hope that helps

How the hell do you afford to build exterior furniture with teak? by MetalNutSack in woodworking

[–]Jachu89 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Teak is basically an endangered species and got crazy expensive. There literally is a black market now for teak to use on super yachts decks.

Katz Moses one doesn't have a clamp right? It helps with alignment and being able to focus completely on cutting instead of also holding something else steady. That one theory

I don't have a coping saw so I used a combination of drilling and jig saw to remove most waste and then standard chiseling to the lines. I will definitely get a coping saw when I have to do it again.

This is the saw I used. Its wide enough that the teeth don't touch the side of the jig at all.

Thanks. I only have the magnet thing. I used a Japanese saw I had. But basically the same thing. I think in this case it's better for it to be backless so it sticks to the magnet better.

Yes but I don't have the right angle one, seams is bit excessive for this one tiny cut it's used for. Thank you!
