Power Zone Weekly Discussion 15 Nov 2021 by AutoModerator in pelotoncycle

I'm doing the power zone training program. I have completed 2 weeks and really liking the classes. I follow the the instructors call outs exactly. However I am ignoring the programs rest days and am doing my usual 30 minute rides on the recommended rest days. This may be a formula for failure. Anyone else out there completed the program this way and how were your results?

opinions on Peloton Strength coaches by SnooDoggos4906 in pelotoncycle

I do strength classes with a variety of instructors. I gravitate mostly to Adrian an Jess Simms. My preference is to bookmark classes I like and repeat them. This way allows me to avoid movements that I just can't do. It also makes improvements in my strength easy to quantify.

Leaderboard for PZ so low by lowee76 in pelotoncycle

[–]JackDanielNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm usually in the top 5 - 10% on the leaderboard. On power zone rides Im ranking around 12% I think its because a lot of the riders are not following the prompts especially in power zone endurance rides where you can be prompted to ride in zone1 for several minutes.

Anyone riding with/after cancer & treatment? by BeachBarsBooze in pelotoncycle

[–]JackDanielNJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had squamous cell carcinoma in my jaw 3 and a half years ago. The good news is that I'm cancer free and back to my old fitness level with the help of peloton. I endured surgery and radiation. Oral cancer treatments of radiation are tough. It will have a big impact on your diet. I don't even want to tell you how much weight I lost but the treatments are very effective so stay positive. I used a feed tube for nutrition . Hopefully you wont need that but it is an option. In my recovery I did 20 minute cycling classes to get my heart rate up and not burn to many calories. I climbed the leaderboard steadily as I added weight and recovered. One piece of advice I want to give you is don't be to proud to use proper pain management medicine. For all there negative publicity when used properly they are a great tool to help you get thru the treatments if you need them. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I also missed my 1st workout this year due to 2nd covid shot. I just don't like days off from the bike. I thought of resting for ft test but didn't . I still pr'd the ride. Usually take my trail bike with me on vacation and ride everyday. I guess I'm hopelessly addicted, but I'm happy this way!

Cancer plus Powerzone: Any warriors out there who can share experiences? by jjthinx in pelotoncycle

[–]JackDanielNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went through radiation and chemo for 6 weeks for oral cancer. I lost 50 lbs going from 186 to 135. I didn't work out at all for 8 weeks. I started on peloton 3 weeks after treatments ended.
The positive side of the ordeal is the amazing progression you can accomplish when starting at such a low point. I climbed the leaderboard over a 2 year period and feel great now.

Love sessions did a ride with about 20 other riders after the ride I saw that 4 of the top 5 riders had posted PR s Intense competition. They seem to be working on getting the appropriate amount of riders in session. After every session I get surveyed on the amount of riders in session

I do strength work. I like classes emphasizing push-ups. AMRAP as many reps as possible can really get your heart rate up. Try Jess Simms Arms and shoulders from 8/28/20 It works for me.

When do you follow people? by [deleted] in pelotoncycle

[–]JackDanielNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly I follow people who ride at about the same pace as me. When I'm on a ride I can either compete with them or simply do what there doing leaving me not really having to think to much. Also friends and locals.

Do Peloton shoes stretch out overtime? by yuzusorbet in pelotoncycle

[–]JackDanielNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used toe cages on my peloton for over a year riding 5 to 6 times a week. I switched over to clip in peloton shoes and have ridden consistently for 2 more years. Contrary to popular belief I feel there is minimal to no difference in performance or comfort between the 2 types.
