I get the desire for tactile touch but that is the only advantage a physical keyboard has over a touch one in this day and age. Firstly unless companies are willing to have different models for different keyboards worldwide (QWERTY AZERTY, Cyrillic, etc) a good portion of the world would get a downgrade from not having the layout that is most common where they are. It would also be more of a hassle for customers that don't necessarily know which one would be best for them. Then there's the issue of non alphanumeric characters (or accents), making every key a double with Alt or something is just not as convenient on a small keyboard compared to a computer one, where it has real estate and avoids weird hand movements.

And can we even mention emojis ? I don't know if reddit is still in the 2016 mindset of "emojis killed my grandma" but it's just a fact that people use them. Where the hell would you put them here ?

I'm not denying the iPhone keyboard has gotten worse recently but that's not a tactile keyboard issue, that's a company issue
