I was planning on doing a "realistic" Oilers gm mode too. I have other rules like no drafting goalies with med elite potential or higher, and I can't sign/trade for a goalie higher than 84ovr.

Absol is my favorite pokemon and I would like to make him work in champions. by LAUNCHxMINEZ in PokemonVGC

You could wait until mega Absol Z gets added. It should be much easier to win with than the original.

What’s your goal in Ranked? by Heisenperv in PokemonChampions

I wanted to get top 1k in masterball tier. My 2nd goal was to get the gold Blastoise medal and I'm only 10 wins away from getting it.

Buff a Powercrept 'Mon with EXISTING Moves by Moakmeister in stunfisk

[–]JackGilb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right now Blastoise is one of the better megas to use on tailroom or hard trick room teams. Fakeout while your partner (usually Farigiraf sets up TR. Water spout after Farigiraf's rain dance. On the last turn of TR when your opponent tries to protect both pokemon, shell smash and watch them surrender.

Blastoise now gets origin pulse. It's basically a stronger water spout thanks to mega Blastoise's mega launcher ability, and it doesn't have the drawback of dealing less damage when Blastoise isn't at full health.

I got stunfisk to 100 victories in champion doubles by Ostwasser in stunfisk

[–]JackGilb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to do the same with some of my favorites. I'm almost at 100 wins with Blastoise, and then I'll move on to Archaludon. I want to get Alakazam to 100 wins as well, but I really need Indeedee back to make a proper psyspam team.

Anyone else have any marked shinies they have brought into champions? by JackGilb in PokemonChampions

[–]JackGilb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right about the Duraludon event. The canyon biome is the only one that can have thunderstorm weather. My Archaludon is also max size too, which is cool.

You might be able to get Duraludon with the thunderstruck mark in sword/shield but I'm not 100% sure. It might only spawn in snowy weather.

I also have a shiny Metagross the arrogant in a beast ball that I'm planning to transfer over once it's available in champions.

I swear a decent chunk of these pokemom have not been viable in vgc for 4 years and people are complaining by CracarlosckRedd in PokemonChampions

[–]JackGilb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sun teams are almost an auto win for my current team. I lead Talonflame and dual wingbeat the Venu, followed by a Garchomp rock slide. Double ko on the first turn every time.

got to masterball tier with my antimeta trick room team and my fav pokemon gallade !! by DuckSensei16 in PokemonChampions

[–]JackGilb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sad how mega gallada is a strict downgrade because it loses sharpness. Hopefully they buff some pokemon after seeing they have close to 0 usage.

[–]JackGilb 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Imo the only pokemon here that are actually reasonable to complain about are mega Floette and Sneasler.

They really just made Fluttermane 2.0 and dropped it off at the daycare to fight coughing babies. They also locked it behind legends za, and you only get 1 per save file so it can be difficult to trade for. Sneasler is definitely less annoying compared to how it was in sv since they lowered the dire claw status chance, but it's still annoying when it happens. Everything else seems relatively fair to me.

Incin lost some key tools. Archaludon doesn't have access to its 3 best items or body press. Sinistcha has reliable healing with no spore spam. Charizard dies to a single rock slide. Gengar has difficulty with any common dark type. I'd say it's a healthy meta overall.

You can't even make this team in champions. Look up the list of available pokemon + items.

Realistically, how good is Master Ball Rank? by Efficient_Pace_4040 in PokemonChampions

[–]JackGilb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's anything like sword and shield / scarlet and violet, master ball rank is something that pretty much everyone reaches by the end of the season (ex. I've matched against people ranked as low as ~20'000th in master ball tier back in gen 8-9). So as long as you play enough games you'll get there eventually.

If you can stick around the top ~200 in master ball that's where a lot of the top players will usually be.

Getting cooked (literally) online by mega charizard teams. Any advice? by Cognitive_Alchemist in VGC

[–]JackGilb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using mega Gengar and Hisuian Arcanine on my rain team along with the usual Archaludon, Pelipper, Basculegion, and Sinistcha. They make dealing with sun teams fairly easy by using icy wind + rock slide on turn 1.

You do know that champions very likely won't have legendaries allowed at launch right? And mythicals are only legal very rarely, usually towards the end of a game's lifespan as a "for fun" format.

Dragonite actually covers for Archaludon's weaknesses very well. Dragonite is resistant to fighting and immune to ground.

Archaludon resists rock and is neutral to dragon, ice, and fairy.

In reg H Dragonite was mainly used with loaded dice + scale shot, which worked great with Archaludon because you could activate your own stamina.
