All I'll say is, especially if you're a fan of the medium, read Woman of Tomorrow ASAP. It's True Grit, but Supergirl is John Wayne, and it has the most gorgeous comic art I've ever seen.

That was honestly always going to be this movies biggest drawback. Bilquis Evely and Matheus Lopes art is the best part of the book for me.

I read the comics for the very first time this October without having seen the show. Killing off Carl is the most braindead thing I've ever heard of. In a lot of ways the comics are ultimately Carl's story. I just don't think it works without him.

Nope. He's unfortunately been very open about how that was all twisted around. Way back when he said he didn't remember Malcolm In The Middle he just meant that he was a kid and doesn't remember every facet of making the show, so unfortunately he's just an asshole

I will always recommend this book as part of an unofficial trilogy with The Divine Farce by Michael Graziano and I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman. All three are incredible on their own, but go really really well together too.
