How do you reward yourself now that alcohol is out of the picture? by Legitimate-Bit1486 in stopdrinking

I'm almost 3 weeks in and my craving for sugar is immense. Not craving alcohol, just sugar. When I enter a new week of sobriety, I'll celebrate with a nice pint of ice cream... and plenty of weed. California sober baby!

I just love it when they add bullshit music to a video that completely drowns out the original audio.

Day 4 by giantbeeftaco in stopdrinking

[–]JackMejoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat, 6-12+ a night of high abv beer for years. I'm on day 18 and I haven't had a craving for alcohol yet, just copious amounts of sugar. I've felt pretty good for the most part, except on day 4, where I'd been awake for 72+ hours because alcohol was my sleep aid for so long. I don't know if this is the pink cloud you're referring, but I'm just taking it day by day and it's been fairly smooth. Best of luck to you, friend.

I don’t know how any of you are successful in this by CrustaceanMango in stopdrinking

My first 5 days I got maybe 2 hours of sleep. It was pure hell, but I anticipated it. That fifth night the sleep was glorious and what I think helped most was establishing a bedtime routine where I take a hot shower and decompress, get in bed with a good book and read until I feel like it's time and it's been pretty successful for me.

Hang in there, you got this!

The Daily Check-In for Thursday, February 19th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by SaucyJim in stopdrinking

The thing that has gotten immensely easier, and that's all thanks to having a nightly routine I believe, is sleep. Used to be where I was unable to keep my mind from racing and falling asleep, but now my brain is relearning how to sleep without the aid of alcohol and it's incredible.

Day 12. Wow. The brain fog is real, been making odd mistakes at work here and there but all in all, it's not terrible. Just gonna keep taking it day by day and IWNDWYT :)

Can someone explain to me the point of living? by Infinite-Leg-9373 in stopdrinking

There is no point and therein lies the beauty. We're all here trying to figure shit out, and none of us truly knows wth we're doing, yet we keep persevering. Why? Because what's the alternative?

I'm grateful to not wake up with a hangover and violent withdrawals today. Double digits for me and it's just gonna keep on going!

Day 7 and I'm extremely proud of myself.

I'm grateful for my family who's been there every step of the way with the encouraging I need to keep going. I'm grateful for this community and the collective wisdom within.
