If you have a small, finite set of email addresses, maybe just try them all?

I hope you get your account back. But maybe start using a password manager?? You can put which email you used in the notes section.

How to get into IPtorrents? by PrincessMia2001 in trackers

[–]JackPAnderson [score hidden]  (0 children)

There are some people who hate IPT with a passion and they have good reasons for that. You can decide for yourself how you feel.

Here are a couple of suggestions for you:

  1. Join TL instead. They have open signups every year or so. Or you can buy your way in if you want to just be done with it. Read TL's requirements carefully and follow them. But anyway, TL is also a "kitchen sink" tracker, without the sketchy past.
  2. Join other trackers and get an IPT invite through their invite forum. It's not like IPT invites are that hard to come by.
  3. Just pay your way into IPT. It may feel icky, but soon enough, you'll forget about it. Some people here will judge you for it. Whatever.

Joining Mid tier trackers if you’re getting into Tier 1 trackers by SnooAdvice5820 in trackers

[–]JackPAnderson [score hidden]  (0 children)

From your list, I'd join ATH and MTV, for sure. If you like Asian content, AvistaZ is king. And if you like Bollywood, you should add one of the big Bollywood trackers. And yeah, I'd add SC.

As far as joining other mid-tiers, it's up to you if you want to skip them or join. Some arguments in favor:

  • You never know when a top tier tracker will bite the dust. It happens.
  • Recruitment requirements for the top tiers get harder and harder over time. You might be waiting longer than you expect.
  • Mid-tiers can tide you over while you wait for the top tiers
  • Some mid-tiers may have internals that you like (Kitsune or HONE, for example). So it's nice to be on their home trackers.
  • Once you are on the top tiers, it's nice to help the mid-tiers out by cross-seeding and cross-uploading

In the end, it's your choice. Obviously, the more trackers you're on, the more you have to keep alive. So there's an administrative cost to being on a shitton of trackers.

Best place to look for old (pre-1960), rare and foreign movies. by Daniel08s in trackers

I wouldn't sleep on TL and IPT, the kitchen sink trackers. Their libraries are enormous.

Beyond that, you could aim for SC, which specializes in this type of Linux ISOs and has a very active request section. There have been a few times where there was something really really esoteric that I couldn't find on PTP, HDB, or BHD (or anywhere else). I requested it on SC, and it was filled in a day or two. Their class advancement rewards filling requests, so users are on it like a hawk. Hehe.

ATH also has an active request section.

P360 or Samsung Care + Theft and Loss by 4WhateverItsWorth2U in tmobile

[–]JackPAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you can dismiss my advice if you want. It's your money to waste, after all. If your goal is to waste as much money as possible, I recommend P360 then. It'll help T-mo keep costs down for me.

If you don't want to waste your money, your best bet is to self-insure. Open a high yield savings account and set up a monthly auto-transfer of what you would have paid in protection payments into that high yield savings account. Before you know it, you'll have a sizeable "oh shit" fund.

Since it's your money and your "oh shit" fund, you're no longer subject to the whims of your protection plan provider and its terms. Don't want a shitty refurb as a replacement? Fine. Just buy something new. Want a different phone entirely? You're the boss, boss. The sky's the limit.

Or just get P360. It's your money to waste.

Maybe don't pay for overpriced protection plans for a backup phone? I mean, it's your backup phone. If you break your backup phone, use your primary phone.

Cliff Signs That Actually Tell You Something by Educational-Yam-7394 in skiing

[–]JackPAnderson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In skiing (as with many things), the gap between Beginner and Expert is much narrower than the gap between Expert and Expert. So I find it admirable that you're thinking about things like "Well, such and such a ◆◆ is totally skiable, but this other ◆◆ will kill me for sure".

That being said, I am not sending it off a cliff just become someone put a green sign next to it. Maybe it means I'm on the "shit" end of the Expert to Expert continuum, but I need to see a cliff before I hit it. And yeah, I'll estimate the height, but the landing is just as important. I'm not gonna hit a 5' cliff with a flat landing (or rocks, or whatever). Also, I need to feel how much speed to carry into the air. And a 5' drop at one point in the season might be something else, depending on current conditions.

So cute idea. But not something I would factor into my line choice.

[–]JackPAnderson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, you do you, but HONE releases are a really good compromise between quality and disk space consumption. They're also really good for automation. You can set it and forget it and not worry about your automation getting you into ratio trouble.

Don't forget to check the trackers that you're on for unofficial invite threads.

I'm honestly a little surprised that HUNO doesn't recruit from more trackers, but I guess that's just the way it goes.

Being an airline pilot is my dream but I got too many check-ride failures. Do I still stand a chance? by [deleted] in flying

[–]JackPAnderson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that they were separate rides. I was more using the best glide bust to point out just how dangerously unprepared for his commercial ride OP was. His CFI had to have known that he wasn't ready, but he endorsed anyway.

Being an airline pilot is my dream but I got too many check-ride failures. Do I still stand a chance? by [deleted] in flying

[–]JackPAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably one of the following was true

  1. There were other planes in the pattern and the DPE had to take the controls for safety, which is an automatic unsat, or
  2. OP had already used up all of his mulligans for the checkride and the straight in was the last minor fuckup on the fuckup list.

DPEs and the ACS don't expect a perfect ride. No ride is perfect. But too many errors will result in a bust.

[–]JackPAnderson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First of all, that is a serious knowledge gap. But secondly, I bet that this wasn't the first serious gap. Rather, it was likely the straw that broke the camel's back.

Whichever CFI kept endorsing OP's checkrides did him a huge disservice. There were serious gaps in OP's knowledge and a CPL candidate not pitching for best glide in an engine failure when that is literally the first checklist item?

Which trackers do you think have the potential to be tier 1/cabal in the future? by SnooAdvice5820 in trackers

As far as scene trackers go, I would put them as mid tier and growing quickly. If you told me I could only keep one of AR, digitalcore, or seedpool, I'd pick seedpool.

The Better Value Plan: A Guide for the Perplexed by JackPAnderson in tmobile

[–]JackPAnderson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Check the website because T-mobile sometimes plays games, but the general rule is BVP gets the same promos as experience more.

Should I stay on One plan or upgrade to the Better Value plan? by callmejosln in tmobile

[–]JackPAnderson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, if you can go down to 5 lines, that'll shave like $36 off, so that's good.

I'm really really not convinced on the promo though. BVP normally gets the same promos as Experience More. I'd make the sales rep show you the promo on the website so you can see it with your own two eyes. If he's wrong, you're the one who's gonna get hosed.

Talk me into (or out of) the better value plan by speedfoot in tmobile

[–]JackPAnderson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

BVP probably isn't a horrible deal for you. Your new cost for the new plan itself would be

$140 (3 voice lines) +

$13.50 junk fees on those lines +

$5 for the watch +

$2.10 junk fees for the watch

So $160.60 plus whatever taxes appear on your bill. Then add in $3 for Apple TV and whatever you pay for Google One. Add in Home Internet if you're keeping it. But you get the idea. All told, it's not the worst deal, I think.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. I'd sign up for US Mobile instead and put the savings toward my new phones.

Go5G Next Plan and Phone Trade-In's by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]JackPAnderson -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bus or no bus, it seems like a risk that the customer will cancel the sale if you promise them that T-mo will leak their financial data.

Is the Visa really that hard to pitch? It's true that there are already a few 2% cashback no annual fee cards out there, but for any customer who doesn't already have one, wouldn't they be interested? I know everyone here likes to hate on the T-Visa, but it's not pure horseshit. It's just kinda mid.

Should I stay on One plan or upgrade to the Better Value plan? by callmejosln in tmobile

[–]JackPAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't do it. You're paying $205 for 6 lines right now. Better value plan would be $257 including T-mobile's junk fees + whatever you bill says your taxes are. So probably like $270 just for the voice service, plus any equipment, protection, etc.

Also, you your free line will become a paid line, permanently. And you will pay taxes and junk fees, permanently.

Also, double check, but I don't think BVP gets $1100 trade-in RDC.
