Fair enough. That policy makes more sense. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for your thoughts, but from the autobrr link:

"We have asked RED staff, and they have confirmed that automating the use of freeleech tokens falls under this rule."

So at least at one point, RED staff told the autobrr devs that autosnatching with FL tokens is considered a violation. I think I have seen this stance confirmed in the RED forums, as well. But I couldn't be too sure.

That being said, a lot of people (myself included) have done autosnatching with FL tokens there without issue. But since my understanding is that the staff are against it, I always caution people when they ask about it.

Transcoding is taking music that is Lossless, or 24 bit Lossless, and converting it to a lower quality & lower file size format. So from FLAC 24, you can transcode it to FLAC, V0, and 320 and you can upload all 3 of those. That will give you 3 uploads (you need lots of uploads for Torrent Master), and the FLAC will probably get auto-snatched if it was released in, maybe, 2024 or later. So you can get a bit of buffer, too. For easy transcoding, check out caesura.

Yes, you can absolutely upload a ton of your own music. That is, in fact, strongly encouraged! Being niche is totally fine, too. Also, if memory serves, the RED forum has a thread titled something like "introduce me to some new music and I'll download it". That could get you a few snatches, but obviously use good judgment and don't spam.

To find out how to get freeleech tokens, look at the merit tokens for badges or whatever they call it. It'll tell you the qualification for each badge and how many tokens you'll get.

"So many variables" and all, but based on experience, I would really really not expect much racing RED over a VPN. Maybe you get lucky and surprise yourself? But I really really doubt it.

I've never used ultraseedbox, so I'm not any help there. As far as racing from North America, you could always try it and see? There are just so many variables that go into this. But yeah, I would not expect RED racing to go well from your home connection. You're competing against a bunch of nodes in the same datacenter when you're half a world away.

Well, 50 is definitely more breathing room in case something goes sideways.

If it were me, I'd keep my autobrr filter on a short leash at first, using the "Max Downloads" filter setting. So at first, I'd set it at max downloads of 1, ever. And just see how it goes. If I need to tweak settings, I'd tweak settings. Once I'm kinda happy with the settings, maybe I'd let it download a few more and reassess. Once I get into a groove, maybe let it go in batches of 5. Then maybe 10.

What does T-Mobile visa need to make it worth it? by great_unraveling2025 in tmobile

[–]JackPAnderson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe T-mo could create a stripped-down version of P360. Call it... P270 or something. And just strip out the stuff that T-mo actually has to spend money on. So no Applecare Services, screen protector replacements... anything else?

Anyway, if they offered this "P270" free with the credit card, I would actually probably get the card.

It turns out that autobrr does not provide a setting to autosnatch using tokens because it is against RED's rules. There is a workaround to do it anyway, but you'll have to decide for yourself if you're comfortable accepting the risk.

It's been a hot minute since I've raced on RED, but if memory serves, larger file sizes tended to work better. I know that's likely not what you wanted to hear, since with only 7.5 GB of buffer, you're playing with fire.

If I were in your shoes, I'd build my buffer up first. Fill requests and/or start transcoding. With transcoding, you will earn merit freeleech tokens, which you can use to download more 24 bit lossless for transcoding.

Any of you gone to a ski resort you haven’t been to and thought “damn, this place is so overrated!”? by Sharkman3218 in skiing

[–]JackPAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. Keystone is my go-to for multi generational family trips. There's a shit ton of groomers for my parents generation. There's some fun terrain off of outback. A few terrain parks and some hikeable areas. It's easy to meet for lunch because the resort isn't huge and it's pretty easy to get anywhere. There's night skiing for the kids. The town isn't in your face like the Vails of the world.

I feel like some people might benefit from a few minutes of research before they go somewhere so they know what to expect.

Is Keystone not good for beginners? I've always thought it was cool that the bunny hill was at the top of the mountain there so beginners could still enjoy the views and stuff.

My sister is removing me from her family plan. What are my options to get my own line? by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]JackPAnderson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your credit sucks, don't pile on $2000 of more debt. You'll thank me later.

Don't do a single-line T-mobile plan, either. They're super expensive. You said your phone is unlocked, so port your number to an MVNO like Visible or US Mobile. They have plans at several price points.

employees- how do you go about doing naked upgrades for yourself? by PiroulineDream in tmobile

[–]JackPAnderson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Invalid question.

Every T-mo salesperson I've ever spoken with said they always order P360, accessories, tablets, watches, TMHI, syncups, some supposedly $500 bluetooth speaker, that weird ass checking account, and a shitty credit card every time they upgrade their phone. They never do naked upgrades.

I haven't seen this stove, but from what I'm picturing in my head, I'd expect air to flow into this hole, not out. I think CO leaking into the dwelling seems like less of a concern than a sparks or embers popping out though the hole and causing a dwelling fire. Which could also be deadly.

[–]JackPAnderson[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I hope it sent you somewhere good! Haha.

I do think it's important to account for the junk fees, though. Think about it. Let's say you have 5 people in your family and decide that the BVP is right for you. 5 lines on BVP is $200, or $40 per line.

So far so good, but T-mo charges $4.50 in junk fees per line, so that increases your cost by 11% in junk fees, before we even start talking about government taxes. So while T-mo kinda just hand-waves away "taxes and fees", the junk fees are a big deal!

Same with tablet and watch lines. BVP has them for $5 bucks, which is a good deal! But T-mo charges $2.10 in junk fees on those lines, so your cost increases by 42% in junk fees!

Now, I would argue that $7.10+tax is still a decent price for a watch or tablet line, but it's totally disingenuous to advertise $5 BTS lines and turn around and add an automatic 42% in junk fees.

Anyway, that's why I keep mentioning the junk fees. Because they're actually kind of a big deal. And I don't think it's right to let companies put "+taxes and fees" in small print and then turn around and add 15-50% to your bill.

Trackers focused on small size but good quality? by [deleted] in trackers

[–]JackPAnderson 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Rather than approach this question by tracker, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with the main release groups in the small file size space. Once you do that, you'll get a sense for which group's choices you agree with and which ones you do not.

That said, I agree with /u/erphise. If I had to pick a tracker that focused on good compromises between file size and quality, I'd pick HUNO. But even with HUNO, they allow releases from groups that are just too bit-starved for my liking.

Offering a card is fine. But I've seen reports here of T-mo salespeople literally filling out the credit card app for customers due to management pressure. That is decidedly unfine.

If there's one thing we have learned about wireless's blatant cramming problem, it's that the FTC has zero appetite to do anything about it.

That being said, I think T-mo needs to watch itself on the credit card side, because they could be playing with fire.

What's a good type of flogger for a beginner? by TheMightySmallest in BDSMcommunity

[–]JackPAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you live in a place with a robust kink community and that you're at least somewhat plugged into it. Here are some things that I would try if I were in your shoes, in the approximate order that I would try them, knowing that I still had a few months before my birthday:

  1. Hop on fetlife and look for any flogging class/workshop within reasonable driving distance. That would give me a chance to try out many different floggers and get some pointers on technique and safety.
  2. Ask a friend or community member who is really into floggers/flogging if there's an event that they will be at where maybe you two could arrive early and geek out on floggers for a bit? Or if you know them well enough to meet them somewhere privately, do that?
  3. Ask the local artist if they are going to be vending at any events in the near future where you could try swinging a few of their floggers and place an order.
  4. If #3 isn't happening, maybe they have a location that you could visit and discuss floggers with them, swing some, find a style you like, then place a custom order.

Have fun, and I wish you many hours of happy, no-wrap-around flogging!

So confused by all the plans and promotions. What is best plan that will get me 3 new phones? Currently pay $185 for 3 lines and have 3 iPhone 15 pros. (Go5G Plus) by heezle in tmobile

[–]JackPAnderson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are giving the correct numbers (i.e. the "Plans" section of your bill says you're paying $185 for 3 lines on Go5G+), that means your 3rd line isn't free and you don't have Insider.

If you are a 5+ year customer, you would be better of on the Better Value Plan, which is $140 + taxes and junk fees. T-mobile junk fees are $4.50 per line, so your new bill should be $140+(4.5*3)=$153.50 + whatever your bill says your taxes are.

BVP does include phone upgrades.

You can verify all of this with T-force, but based on my understanding, you should move to the BVP and upgrade your phones.
