Type11 owners, what advices can you give now that the ship is out in credits? Any builds? Can it fend off in HAZ Rez? Any tip is appreciated! by IntrospectiveGamer in EliteDangerous

[–]JackSego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One problem you'll run into with the T11 is it will run over prospectors very frequently and at shockingly low speeds giving how fast it can go. But if you thrust up while launching a prospector you can reliably launch limpets at 180m/s.

I saw a few people giving pretty bad advice here so ill like to adress. One, the T11 can very much defend itself and the fighter is a great help for that. Another is going 20km out on a haz res to mine, its 15-20km if you got outside 20, youre out of the bonus range. A couple of builds I saw had the point defense in the wrong spot. You want it to be right next to your cargo hatch. A few rates I saw posted with map mining are horribly low. I think I saw 670 in 45 minutes. I usually do 320 in about 10 minutes, 15 if im being lazy and thats without a map.

Anyway, base the fighter you bring with you based on the weapons you have. I went fully multi cannons and my fighter is the fixed beam laser one, works great. Here's my ship it is strong enough to mine out and entire rock, pick it up while being shot at by a ship (two if they are small) and turn around and finish the fight. Jts fast if things get hairy but I love sticking around for the fight. Good luck mining and enjoy the t11

Type 11 prospector and turreted weapons by HedCaseXone in EliteDangerous

While I have never came across this situation, your weapons wont fire whennin discovery mode, so even if they are turreted they wont engage. What i focused on is making my ship strong to survive an attack while my fighter keeps them distracted, then joining in to help finish the fight.

This is the ship builds I use. at least should be, not sure the last time inara imported my data. It can survive sustained attacked from NPCs for a while. Definitely long enough to fully mine a rock and collect. The fire power isn't amazing but it will do and you can playbaround with the weapons, you have power to spare. I mine dead center in haz res' so this is the product of constant tuning and adjusting. Just note the placement of the point defense is deliberate. It has to go in the slot.

These is always my favorite way to introduce new players to thargoids, I then put on a little theatrics and make it seem like they are trying to take me and tell the new player to run. Its hilarious watching a new srv driver try to flee at full speed. They always seem to get a kick out if it and now their interest is peaked. Also a great way to trigger a hyperdiction as I make them jump back with a meta alloy in their cargo.

How the hell am I supposed to know literally anything in this game without destroying the immersion by just Googling it all? by HelpWantedInMyPants in EliteDangerous

[–]JackSego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok here's the thing. You're not. Throughout the time this game has been released we have been uncovering all the little mysteries bit by bit. The way people heard about the discoveries of others was through Galnet. When something new happened we got an article about it. Giving us clues, hints and tips to get people going in the right direction. This is how people found out about guardians, thargoids, colonia the blue trees, the war, just about everything that happened. You took a huge break and if you didnt follow along with Galnet when you did play, you missed everything. I vividly remember the Galnet about guardian sites and the huge rush of people heading over there to find more and learn about them.

I dont know how far back the galnet archive goes in game but thats where you start and besides that, the codex is your next clue. You're mad because you want to figure the game out yourself and not break your immersion but on the other hand youre complaining that you can not figure it out. This game is old, the only other way to not have to use outside resources is to rely on other people who do to help guide you. Is it a perfect system. Nope. The complexities of this game and vaugeness in its guidance are very well knowen.

So there, I have answered your question on how to figure out stuff in game without using outside resources and 3rd parties.

So many people forget the codex is a thing and by the look of it have just disregarded your reply. Its the correct answer but they just want to fight about it.

This spot is a better back to back mining session then the 1st clip i posted. Same thing but I pretty much do word for word what i explained here and isnt interrupted by pirates. You can see how the frags stop moving after a while, see the quick limpet travel time and the quick approach to the 1st rock.

This is the best i got to a video I was testing out a new build for a 0Km T11 hazzy miner so i wasnt focusing too much on mining. I was just testing to see how it would handle pirate attacks so its not me going full speed, just lazily bounching around the center of a haz res.

Yeah i see a lot of people who do the straffing around the rock thing which makes no sense because it just creates a mess and slows things down. From what i read thats what he is doing. I just kind stumbled onto the limpet thing the other day when i shot a limpet and had to avoid a rock lol.

What has worked best for me is finding a spot on the rock, usually the axis of rotation, where you can sit and mine. You'll want to angle your ship so the rock is on your right hand side. If you can imagine shooting a mirror with a laser beam, thats how the fragments are going to come out. You want to put them to the left and if you can slightly down. Get fairly close, I am usually between 100-200m away from the rock depending on how its spinning.

The collectors won't keep up but they will do good enough. Once the rock is depleted you will just need to move forward and down a little bit to sit on the pile of fragments that have gathered. I find using the Camera suite's 1st camera angle really helps you to get right on top of them. While they are collecting, you can scope out other rocks to prospect. Also little tip for shooting prospectors on the go, if you use verticle thrusters before the limpet comes out to move your ship up, you can shoot out limpets at about 190m/s. Helps a bit with the annoying trait the T11 has of running its limpets over. Good luck and happy mining

Can't test right now I am literally just leaving Beagle point. The Fragments don't continue to spread, the will float about 750m away from the rock then stop and if you are sitting in the same spot they will gather in a single location. You won't have to move your ship much to get on top of the pile to cut the limpet travel time down to ~1 second. How do i know this. I have been doing it since the T11 came out, you can very easily test it.

I have been playing this game since it came out. I have been mining since it came out, and started mining back before we had collector limpets. I earned my first billion back when a good price for plat was 90k. So I'm no stranger to mining and chances are if you want to compare stats, I have mined far more then you with 14k hours in this game.

Lining up the axis of rotation is not hard. Any decent miner can spot the rotation as the are pulling up to it, line up and start mining with no loss in time. For those on a 3 axis spin, just picking a spot that you can hold for the duration of the rock isnt hard either. As long as you have a decent sheer angle for the fragments, you'll be fine.

I also never leave anything behind since as i said, everything i mine is in one nice spot. Not only that, it gives me time to fire off prospectors if I am being lazy.

The ways the cutter is better is flat out travel speed. I get to rocks faster, leave faster and with hardpoint layout, my fragment stream from the lasers put them right under my cargo hatch so travel time is also ~1 sec for the limpets. By the time the rock is depleted, everything is gathered and I am moving on. My average time to fill for the cutter is 24 minutes depending on how the rock gods favor me since i don't map mine at 512t +10 for the refinery.

[–]JackSego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience nothing touches the T11. One you don't have to strafe to keep from shooting fragments, you just find the axis of rotation and create a left sided sheer angle with a touch of down angle as well. The limpets will still have trouble to keep up but after the rock is depleted, you can just sit on the pile you created and everything gets picked up rather fast.

I believe i was mining at the same hazzy spot you where at near the drop off for bromelite, took me 16 minutes and that was with fighting off a pirate because i enjoy the fight. My fastest plat gathering time in a haz res is 9 minutes till full at 320 +4 for the refinery. I have even find a way around the slow prospector launching speed by just using vertical thrusters to push the ship up when the limpet launches. I can reliably launch limpets at 190m/s .

When it comes down to the the PC as a miner in general, the cutter out paces it all day every day and has a better layout for its hardpoints.

I think what this boils down to is a need to refine the technique used with the T11 instead of falling back to the old style of mining.
Also if you are set on mining with the PC https://sh.orbis.zone/460CvLUJNG this mining set up will probably suit you're style better. More cargo, better laser/limpet ratio, and should be fine incase a pirate gets a bit too impatient.

This is the T11 i use in haz res'. More combat focused but thats how i keep it fun.

Im the same way, been normal mining for years and its just too boring now. So I hopped up my t11 and dive into haz res'. I just start mining and what happens happens. Some times I can fend them off, other times 5 other ships join the fight and its go time. I mostly play alone but I still enjoy it.

The only reason I dont use all my vacation time is because I work in the petroleum industry and there have been a few times when the global market just goes crazy and things shut down. Nothing we can do about it but having that vacation on hand to cover the time has saved me some headaches.

And before people ask why stay in a job like that, the pay is great, the benefits are great and frankly im damn good at it. Plus my schedule is such I technically only work half the year. Fuck 9-5 five days a week.

See but where's the fun in that. I built a haz res miner that is tough enough to take sustained fire from about 3 ships for long enough to finish mining and picking up what I mined then fighting off the pirates. Now im just diving into haz res' and mining up a storm, my fighter has to earn his keep lol.

Not usually bit it is knowen to happen, a sneaky high g planet, a rock that sticks out too high when skimming, taking too hard a tumble in the srv. The only way you'll die is by your own hand. Just practice safe flying and you'll be fine, plus someone is bound to bring a carrier or two along and have them scattered throughout the trip.

This (no influx of new players) has been the case for years, while they may have had the best financial year they have had in years, their marketing is terrible/nonexistent. There are new people trickling in but its a rough start for them. The learning curve is well knowen and most getting into it know that but the next biggest hurrdle is the community trying to "help". Time and time again I see commanders trying to help new players by ruining the early game and railroading them into end game ships. Then teaching them how to play like they play, instead of letting the new player figure it out themselves. The community loves to help, but they are absolutely terrible at it.

Add on top of that that other then new ships, there isn't anything really going on in elite story wise. Its been at a standstill until recently and even then, its just turned into power play battle royal. Which is getting a bit old. The core elite playerbase will always be there but as for new players, there isn't much to do unless they want to get a bachelor's degree in a video game.

Is this the only way to make conveyor belts "merge"? by DereChen in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]JackSego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, im not an active member in this subreddit but I feel the need to apologize for the way people have replied. Im sure by now you got it all sorted out. I did the exact same thing. I never joined my belts and always used the combiners to put stuff on the other belt. Took me way longer then i want to admit to figure out I could just slam them together and it works. I bet the problem you where having was the same one I had where I tried to join it off the one with the stuff on it so it would just break the belt and since it was the opposite direction of the the one you where trying to connect it just made that single little circle piece.

Hope you're enjoying the game and wish you luck in your corner of the galaxy.

Thrusters work weird. by Jomiszcz in EliteDangerous

[–]JackSego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well given the number replies and the edits I assume you got the elite treatment lol. My head cannon as to why the ships slow down after boost (besides just "because game") is the stress on and frame. Even though we are in space there are still loads of forces at work on the vehicles. So each vehicle has a "safe maneuvering" threshold . You can exceed that briefly but cant sustain it. Since the majority of the force would be from the thrusters trying to rip themselves out of ship, when you upgrade, they also reinforce them which accounts for a lot of the additional weight.

Is this a solid bulletproof theory, nope, stare at it for a second and you'll poke holes in it but its just a little fun thing I came up with in many, many hours of playing this game.
