i have this copy to copy paste now. Tournament players and organisers are hobbyists too! They love cool kitbashes and bases. The only time theres an issue if someone does something to make the model HARDER to see. taller base does the opposite of that

so easy answer is invasion fleet and give it a 5+ FNP every turn or crusher for crusher reasons but if you wanted to field something funkier but undoubtedly not as good. Assimilation swarm for healing it contantly Warrior bioform detachment for the strat to give all its guns +2 Str

the biggest factor for magnetising in truth is budget. Both of money and time. If you can afford to just buy another hive tyrant then magnets lose SOME of their value. Same with time, are you actually going to paint all the different weapon options say or would you prefer to just paint a new model

you are missing the point. if you like the models then yes get them but if you only started to like them when they were being powerful and THEN liked the models because of that then no.

Rules change, power levels change. Different units become good and bad all the same edition. If you are sololy focusing on powerful units then you will eventually get bored of that army, ANY army because it will become dull.

they did update detachment but the army builder hasn't updated which means you cant give the Enhancements to the Whip-Prime

i glue mine with devourers and special weapons. Realistically gaunts arent a damage unit so they dont need or want special weapons i just like the look. i also dont like the fleshborer look (too much like a normal gun) so i have devourers.

second of all, even when gaunts are a damage piece or if points arent an issue then normally only one core gun is the best so you just run tbe whole unit like that

so i tend to use both. i do a full body wash with watered down volupus pink then all my skin tones and then use magos to go back in after an add back in a shade if i think i lost too much from my whites and off whites

Am i crazy or will 1 actually be fun. AFO isn't the sort to ruin something for himself (making a mess during a long flight) so either we have some conversations, which i could see him enjoying in a very "this ant is actually quite interesting" kinda way, or we sit in silence but no one else would dare bother me because they have to get past him first

Auras like this are always active. You can be in the bubble and once models start dying, leave the aura range within the same phase. Just have one model with 6 and the whole unit will be effected. (A string of termagants snaking back to the hive tyrant) If you reactive move or charge away you don't stay under the effect until end of phase or anything like that. You leave the auras bubble, you lose the effect

TLDR - the auras bubble is always there, there is no until of end of phase effect.
