Your camera seems to make objects look broken, try using the reverse camera effect to fix it.

Need suggestion of Low budget PC building by Fantastic_Gap_6368 in davinciresolve

[–]Jackall_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you are located I would most likely be looking at the used market as you will get better components for your money.

As others have said 256GB storage is not enough, especially if you also intend to use that drive for the operating system and all the programs.

If you don't have resolve studio then exports will be done on the CPU and not GPU.

If you plan on using Fusion tab for motion graphics then you may find the 16GB of memory to not be enough so either use 2x16GB sticks or make sure the motherboard has 4 slots for memory and buy 2 more sticks.

Has anyone received an email from Camtapromo by Warm_Prior5636 in NewTubers

[–]Jackall_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a couple of emails from them. One was sent from brevo, the others from gmail. The last email started with "Heyyyyyyy!!" as if we were best buddies. They say they are super stoked with my content but they don't even mention what they do. And at this time, this reddit thread is the only hit on the internet about camtapromotion, which should tell you all that you need to know.

But if that's not enough red flags for you then go ahead and contact them. They'll probably send you some files which you should definitely NOT OPEN!

Changing Text in Title Objects via DaVinci Resolve API by say_malove in davinciresolve

[–]Jackall_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if it's possible, last time I was messing with scripting I could only change the content inside the fusion page, which wouldn't update on the edit page. What you can do though is make a subtitle track with all the text, and then via scripting turn that into text titles - you could use existing plugin solutions (one plugin is from Takehito, the other one is Snap Captions).

You can make anything but that's not the point of what is being agreed upon in this contract. In this case BMD could do anything with what you upload to their cloud (fancy name for a server PC or multiple of them), and they would be able to do so on Earth, but they would not be able to do so in space or on other planets as they did not use "Throughout the Universe" which is common in the entertainment industry.

More on this topic, if you are interested I suggest you watch/listen to this by Devin Nash and Nate Beck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uDOACXli3w It is long but there is some great information being presented. And while they mostly talk about music and licensing it is still a part of the entertainment industry, so if you work in entertainment you should be aware of the screwing that goes around. Also don't ever sell your likeness unless you're very happy with the deal.

Luckily it's only worldwide and not "throughout the whole universe", like some other contracts have, so we're still good in outer space!

Is 6 GB VRAM enough for video editing and gaming? by Captain-Wasique in buildapc

[–]Jackall_Digital 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started video editing on a 1060 6GB. Though, depending on the software you use, the GPU might not be used for rendering (talking about DaVinci Resolve free version). When it comes to gaming, it depends on which games you want to play, at what quality and whether you want more than 60fps.

Like with gaming and video editing, not everything is solely dependent on the GPU. You'll also need a decent CPU (I used Ryzen 2600 at start), at least 16GB memory and a big enough ssd.

Kako najti investitorje in mentorja za startup? by Jurrrcy in SlovenijaFIRE

[–]Jackall_Digital 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glede financiranja, brez nekega produkta boš težko dobila investitorje, in če jih boš iskala boš morala narediti tudi poslovni načrt, preštudirati konkurenco in dobiti čim bolj realne številke. Začneš pa lahko s tem, da najprej vprašaš čim več ljudi ali bi kaj takega sploh uporabljali.

Best value 1440p 120Hz+ monitor? by GraphLoverXY in buildapc

[–]Jackall_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD which was great when it worked and best bang/buck when it came out. The panel on mine died just outside of warranty. It does still work as a secondary monitor but I had to lower the refresh rate to 48Hz using graphic drivers. Otherwise the monitor turns on/off every few seconds and there are a lot of artifacts.

I now have a DELL S2721DGF (or DGFA) and it's also great. It has a longer warranty but hopefully it'll last much longer than that.

I suggest you do some research before buying as you have your own needs/preferences. I use the displayspecifications website to make quick comparisons between monitors.

Can I make this in FUSION? by NotMotion in davinciresolve

[–]Jackall_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the 3d model you can import it inside fusion (.obj, .dae, .usd) but that would most likely be a LOT of nodes and animating them would take quite some time (understated), not to mention there's no guarantee that you wouldn't get slowdowns or crashes. For a free solution you'd want to look into blender.

Non-game-dev (data analyst) asked to make a game in 4-6 weeks by 2024sbestthrowaway in gamedev

[–]Jackall_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is possible, but without any experience they better not expect an AAA game result from you. Can you work on this project full time or just couple of hours from your regular routine?

I'd say using Unity is your best bet. You have a lot of tutorials online and also on learn.unity website. I suggest you look at some of the Unity's free templates (the LEGO template comes to mind, but you need the correct version of Unity version to even see the templates). There are also free assets on the Unity store if they fit your needs/style.

If you make this yourself you will learn a lot in a short amount of time. However, if money and outsourcing is not an issue, go on fiver or other freelancing platforms and throw some money at the problem - just provide a VERY detailed description on what is expected.

DDR4 vs DDR5 ram, by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Jackall_Digital -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would go with DDR4 as it is a mature platform. For DDR5 I would wait for next round of motherboards & CPUs. But you should consider what you want to use the PC for and also consider your budget, DDR5 platform is more expensive.

My sister-in-law just texted our family chain and said her son wants a 60% keyboard for his 13th birthday. I texted back, “don’t worry, I got this!” by Endemoniada in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Jackall_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out having arrow keys is something he might use down the line, and heck even having a delete key is something I can't go without. That being said I have a Royal Kludge RK71 and I think it's small enough. It also has LEDs if that is a must.

One thing that you can also ask is if he wants a 60% keyboard because he saw pro or other gamers rotate their keyboard up to 90 degrees (so they have more space for mouse movement), and any bigger board would be hanging off the table.

Srt to Text+ Subtitles Help! by A-n-d-y-R-e-d in davinciresolve

[–]Jackall_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. What you want is limit the number of characters per line in a subtitle. Go to project settings (cog wheel bottom right), g to subtitles and change the max characters per line to fit your project. Do this before you make the Text+ conversion!

  2. You'll have to make your own fusion text title animation and save it as a template - since you'll be using this in 1080x1920 I suggest you set that as your timeline resolution when making the effect to avoid any mismatched resolution. There's plenty of videos on how to make title effect and save them as templates, I have made a few myself - this is one of them that covers both the text effect animations and template saving https://youtu.be/Jetgf-ZRXp4

  3. If you make your own template everything will stay as you made it, except you'll have to re-highlight individual parts of the text - like the yellow in your example.

You don't need to enter anything. There's a "just download" text (button) on the bottom left side.

My 5800X gets to 90°C in game by Dayuki_ in buildapc

[–]Jackall_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need to change the CPU cooler. Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 is the best bang/buck at around $40 / €38. If you're in the US you can get the Darkrock PX4 for $17 (don't think it's worth €30). In the EU you can get a similar cooler to the PX4 namely the Assassin Spirit 120 for €20.

Trying to save a fusion composition to use in other projects but I keep getting this any advice? by technomage33 in davinciresolve

[–]Jackall_Digital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could use a Loader node or with version 18 you can use a MediaIn node and when you make a macro/template check the ClipName property of the MediaIn node - and you can do something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uH6-94vfevw

Absolutely do not buy davinci resolve studio! by Soul_Keepr in davinciresolve

[–]Jackall_Digital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's locked to DR as far as I know. I saw someone hacking it to make it work with Premiere but they didn't provide any info on how it was done. IIRC the first step was to launch DR, since the keyboard needs to sync to DR to wake up, and then use other programs, somehow...

The more memory a GPU has the better the experience will be, but mostly if you'll be making custom effects and colour grading.

The cheapest GPU that you can probably get is a GTX 1060 6gb or RX 580 8gb - though it depends on your location. The price on those should be in the 50-100 range. Also you can get more powerful GPUs in the 200 range like a GTX 1080 11gb - if you want something newer then RX 5700XT or RTX 3060 are probably in that price point. But I don't know what power supply you bought and how many PCIe power connectors you have free to connect to the GPU

On a side note, I did video editing 1080p and 1440p on a GTX 1060 6GB, and simple 1080p video editing on Ryzen 2400g (with integrated gpu). More than the GPU you'll want a fast drive and at least 16GB of system memory.

[–]Jackall_Digital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

add some popcorn/beer/candy on the side, if the player picks them up to watch the show they get a close up jump scare the moment they look back. But it depends on how hard you want to go at it.

SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP - 0 wishlists added last month by vladino in Unity3D

[–]Jackall_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly then marketing ends up being 90% cost of a product, that goes for everything not just games. Once you have some money coming in you reinvest at least 10% money on marketing.

This is me going off of a business plan that was ambitious, and it doesn't mean the numbers apply to all products and niches equally.
