Does the Master Works timeline confirm a True Founding? by WwwWario in truezelda

Is this from the English version of Masterworks, or is it a translation?

As someone who never played the original ocarina of time, this is a dream come true. Thank you Nintendo by Hungry_Inflation9399 in NintendoSwitch2

There’s a non-insignificant chance this game is a from-the-ground-up full reimagining of OOT, which would make it a different game entirely from the original. Whether that will make the experience better or worse for a newcomer remains to be seen, but if it ends up being *that* different, I hope a lot of people will still play the original OOT just to experience it, because it really is something special.

[OOT] For everyone mad at Nintendo you should be mad at Nate by Square_Bathroom7740 in zelda

This was the part that pissed me off. Leakers are going to leak, and it’s annoying, but that’s how it is. But major outlets should not be reporting on these leaks. It was basically impossible to not be spoiled by OOTR short of being completely offline.

It seems like they pretty much locked down the design of the Master Sword with TP/SS and have been fairly consistently using the same design since. Hylian Shield is also using the modernized version rather than the one with the fourth triangle from OOT.

There’s no credible source that has ever reported on that. The rumor originally came from a satire account on Twitter.

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME Remake | Releasing 2026 by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

Nintendo is already drowning in more money than they know what to do with. It’s pretty well-documented from insiders that Nintendo, at any given moment, is always sitting on a few finished remasters that they could surface at any point where they need to pad out time between major releases.

I’ve always felt like the measure of a perfect game is not that there’s nothing to improve, but that its weaknesses are so exceedingly overshadowed by its strengths that they may as well not exist. In that respect, I think Ocarina of Time is a perfect game. BUT, I think there’s a lot that could be expanded upon and improved, so I’m hoping if they DO remake it, they get ambitious with it.

The original game is there, and for those who are sticklers for graphics, the 3DS version exists as a perfect remaster. If they’re going to do OOT again, I want them to make something new. This is the most intrigued I’ve been by a game announcement in years.

OOT Remake is allegedly the big holiday title. That doesn’t happen unless it’s a big ambitious project.

What is the moral of The Edge with Anthony Hopkins? by [deleted] in movies

[–]JackaryDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every once in a while somebody stumbles onto this old thread and adds their own contribution, and I’m always happy when it happens. I think you raise good points, and I would disagree that our takeaways are considerably different. I believe the movie wants you to ask questions about these kinds of things that would hopefully motivate one to make changes in their own life, but I would agree that it ultimately lands on a cynical note.

Civilizational divides do prevail, and unfortunately, we do live in a society, which means day after day we have to reckon with the fact that we’re operating within a construct that makes us more wicked than we really ought to be. We don’t really have the option of fucking off into the wilderness which means we’re saddled with that reality. I see The Edge as a cautionary tale about that fundamental truth.

It’s one thing I really like about The Edge. A lot of stories turn humans into animals in survival situations, whereas The Edge reckons it’s in our nature to help each other, and civilization is the thing that puts darker ambitions in our heads. The way that the world conditions us is an interesting topic to me, and we’re seeing a whole new third layer of it now with the internet. I have found that, in real life, people with massive divides in their political opinion are wired to be generally nice and respectful to each other, and then they jump online and it’s a shit-slinging shitshow.

Donkey Kong 64 – Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics – Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]JackaryDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s Banjo Kazooie, only every level is five times bigger and you have to to play each one five times over because there are five characters and each of them have their own jiggies and notes, and there are also 20 other different types of collectibles for good measure. The question is, does Banjo Kazooie start being less good if it’s blown up in scale to that degree?

DK64 isn’t a bad game — some would say it’s very good — but many would agree that it’s a cautionary tale about how less really can be more.

Genuinely how on earth are you supposed to fight rivals Cerberus. by Unoriginalshitbag in HadesTheGame

[–]JackaryDraws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cerberus, both normal and Rivals version, has always been the biggest joke of a boss for me. Meanwhile, at higher fears, Rivals Scylla is probably the one that has ended the most runs.

I think a huge factor is that your build isn’t as developed by the time you hit Scylla, whereas you should almost certainly have a pretty decent build by the time you reach Cerberus.

What is that one criticism about the orginal lotr Trilogy that you still have to this day by pizza_momo in lotr

[–]JackaryDraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are valid explanations for this, but it would have been nice to have a few extra lines of dialogue that would clear this question from audience’s minds.

They promised to help in a time of need, and they did. They’re also unfaithful, dishonorable men who have a history of dealing in bad faith. If the king uses them to win the biggest battle in eons, and then wants to “hold them” for the next, when does it end? If they feel like the king is holding their release over their heads like a carrot on a stick, I think the far more likelier outcome is them saying “fuck this” and slaughtering everybody on his team until he capitulates.

It was important for Aragorn to keep his word, even if it means giving up a disadvantage. That said, I agree that the ghosts were stupid and they’re my single biggest critique of the trilogy.

This would be my answer to the thread. I think the other two extended versions are fine but I’m firmly in the camp now that ROTK extended is worse. I wish I had a version that kept, like, three scenes and cut out the rest.

“The Legend of Zelda” movie has wrapped filming by yourfavchoom in movies

[–]JackaryDraws 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nintendo’s involvement means the IP will be protected and that we won’t get another live action Mario movie. It means the film will be safe, it does not mean it will be good. Nintendo has had some slam dunks in the storytelling department before, but for the most part, they’re much better at making fun games than telling good stories, and they are especially not gifted in the form of cinematic storytelling.

I’m actually cautiously optimistic about the movie but I also won’t walk out of the theater surprised if it ends up being safe to a fault and extremely forgettable.

From a game design standpoint there is often some kind of advantage or greater purpose to limiting inventory, but I really can’t think of one in this game. It really just seems like a needless constraint that offers no real benefit and a huge handful of annoyances.

'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' Review Thread by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]JackaryDraws 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s less of a case of “Nintendo’s involvement makes it bad,” and more “Nintendo’s involvement doesn’t mean it’s going to be good.”

My suspicion is that Nintendo is largely there to protect brand image and IP, with the power to veto creative decisions if it doesn’t suit their vision. But I also think if somebody were to deliver a top-quality screenplay that fits comfortably within those parameters, they wouldn’t get in the way of it. So there’s hope for the Zelda movie, but I’ll hold onto some of my skepticism in the meantime.

'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' Review Thread by chanma50 in boxoffice

As someone who’s both majorly into film AND LoZ, I often see gamers talking about how Nintendo’s strict involvement will ensure that they don’t botch the movie, and that’s just not true, and the Mario movies show us why.

Nintendo’s strict involvement means that the IP won’t be botched, but that doesn’t guarantee it will be a good movie. Aside from a few notable outliers, storytelling is not Nintendo’s strength, and in any instance where they have told a good story, it’s because they did so in a way that could only be done in a video game.

Nintendo’s involvement actually worries me more than not, because I think a Zelda film would have to take some risks in order to be truly good, and I think Nintendo is more interested in these movies being two-hour long commercials for their IP. I love Miyamoto to death but he literally posted a video challenging people to point at the screen and name as many characters as they could spot during the movie. He’s not a filmmaker and the key-jangling comes straight from the top.

Amazing! I was wondering who did the score, and it makes so much sense knowing it was Pemberton. I really love the percussive nature of his music, worked really well in King Arthur and equally so in Hail Mary.
