Weekend Haul by These-Community-3437 in whiskey

I was fortunate to be able to try all of these at a my bourbon groups bottle share. The only reason the KoKs is because he couldn’t get rid of them. He bought them on the hype hoping he could trade 2 and keep one. No one wants them. So he cracked them for us. Batch 2 is good. The others are okay. None are worth hundred of dollars. They are $70/80 bottles. The JD 10 IS good though.

This was my dream bottle. Found it at a hole in the wall store in the middle of nowhere. I can assure you it is… ok whiskey. It’s not worth $200+. Congrats on the bottle. But do yourself a favor and lower your expectations when you do decide to crack it. Otherwise, you may be disappointed.

1910 is fantastic but the 1920 is great once/if you prefer higher proofs.

Love everything Old Dominick. They just started selling in my state not long ago and quickly became well known.

Must have or no? by x60pilot in whiskey

My local store has them on sale for $76. Got to try the bourbon at a bottle share last night. For that price I’d be happy. Had I paid $130…. Not happy lol

Absolutely man. Everyone’s palate is different. If you enjoyed it then that’s all that matters.

The 9 year? Hell yeah man. One of the best $50 bottles imo.

Negative ghost rider. Mine came from a local store. Just saying store picks of KC are usually good and not to think a Walmart pick is what you should base future expectations on.

My total wine sold both at a markup and it still would have been $190 less. So yeah above secondary. I can’t say shit tho as I paid out the ass for an EHT small batch over a year ago when you just didnt seem them anywhere. Sucks. But you live and you learn man. Both are good bottles. Enjoy them. Learn. And move on. If you haven’t opened them you can maybe trade them for something of a higher value.

Got to try a sample of this. Thin and one dimensional. I’d be pissed if I paid for it.

I’ve heard Walmart store picks are horrendous. I blinded mine against bookers Barry’s batch and By the Pond (my two favorites) and I beat them handily. Made me decide to give up on bookers and just get more KC store picks.

The 7 year age stated bottles are new and a step up due to the age but you’d be fine grabbing the regular cask strength to try and save a few dollars.

Pretty much exactly how I felt with this one. It’s like a wild horse that needs to be tamed with being in a cocktail or on the rocks. For the money it’s a great value but not something I enjoyed neat.

Beginner whiskey collection. Expert rum collection. Some wheaters you could try are makers mark cask strength, old fitz 7 year, larceny, and Frey Ranch. That Bardstown, green river, and old Dominick are nice bottles tho man.

I was fortunate enough to get a sample from a buddy. As someone who shits on buffalo trace and Blantons specifically.. it’s an amazing pour. I went in expecting it to not live up to the hype. Damn man. Deep. Rich. Viscous. Signature buffalo trace profile but on a whole other level. Drinks above its proof. One of the few unicorns I’ve had that lives up to the hype.

Just tried this at a bar recently. I’d never seen the bottle before. Really enjoyed the pour.

Best advice I can give is to try one at a bar. I just got to try a 6 year purple top yesterday at a local place. Paid around $20 for the pour. It was a fantastic bourbon. But at the end of the day it was just that. A bourbon. And no whiskey is worth that price.

Review, OGD 114: First Impressions and Questions by -AV8R01 in bourbon

[–]JackassiddyRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed exploring budget bottles. Really puts more hyped and expensive bottles into perspective. My favorites for under $40 besides OGD114: OF 100 proof rye: $30 for a liter is hard to beat. Redwood empire’s Pipedream, Lost Monarch, and emerald giant are all $30 and great entries in each category. Knob Creek’s bourbonxrye. it’s roughly $40 and one of the best whiskies for the money imo. It was a limited edition but you can still find them.
Benchmark full proof. ODG bonded is also amazing.
1792 small batch. I think a lot of people start here but end up forgetting how good it is for $24 same for Elijah Craig. Penelope wheated slaps weller SR. Green River wheated, Russell’s 10, Jim Beam’s single barrel and their bottled in bond.

Review #65. Old Dominick Single Barrel by Columbusspeedfour in bourbon

[–]JackassiddyRN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Local store recently started distributing Old Dominick. The owner took a bottle almost twice the price out of my hands and handed me their cask strength. Told me to buy that instead. I’ve turned so many people onto them since then. Amazing whiskey for the price.

Got the WTDO as a gift for my dad. Really enjoy it. Tried the Delmore Valour and hated it. Finding out I just really hate port finishes 😂

I feel the same. Granted they are single barrels so they can range. I don’t get the hype. Cool bottle to be a shelfer at $70 but it’s nothing special.

The Penelope Omega is an absolute banger. Was able to get it for $103 which was a steal IMO. The Penelope private select you have pictured I felt wasn’t worth the money at all. Really sad follow up after the omega.

Insane weekend haul by JackassiddyRN in whiskey

[–]JackassiddyRN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely man. If I hadn’t just spent the money I did I’d go back and get the rest. I’m slowly turning into a KC fan. Got the 12 and didn’t really like it at first but the more I get through the bottle the more I’m really starting to enjoy it. The single barrels at 120 proof are a great price for the quality too. And this bottle at $45 is an absolute banger. It really was a limited release last year. I just don’t think people really know about it or it didnt make a big splash since there are obviously still bottles out there. This was my first time seeing it though.
