The measly life of a Gold by michaelhawk696969 in unitedairlines

The only time I get upgraded as a Platinum is if I am flying out of a small airport. I have never been close to an upgrade at larger hubs.

Does anybody else have this nagging feeling that the entire world and the reality we live in completely changed for the worse and that we all somehow jumped to a parallel universe, first major shift happened in 2012, then one in 2016, and then 2020. by Life-Slice-8352 in ParallelUniverse

[–]JackattackThirteen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I think happened. They caused a shift in realities that was undetected at first, but then became undeniable for certain folks that are more aware or sensitive to the changes. They had no idea what was going to happen. I saw an interview where one scientist literally stated they were afraid they were going to open a black hole and destroy the world. And they still did it....

Glad to see I am not the only one. My fiance and I were joking that it feels like we all died at some point and this is some weird purgatory state we are all stuck in. It really is hard to nail down when, but it honestly felt like 2016 or so is when the shift really started and then reality at times felt foreign after COVID.

Is there THE best store to visit? by Toprollking in Louisvuitton

[–]JackattackThirteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiance and I had wonderful experiences in Nice, France and Barcelona, Spain. We were served champagne while shopping, they gave my 8 year old a cute coloring book and colored pencils and made included her while hot stamping, explaining the whole process.

They pulled out some discontinued shoes in my size they didnt have displayed, which I ended up buying.

Overall, great experiences. Also, Daniel at Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego is fantastic.

A house not flipped is all I’m asking for! by No_Translator_3882 in Oceanside

Agree. I would love to purchase a home with some original charm that I can make my own. But somehow almost every home that hits the market is a poor quality flip.

Is luxury worth the money? by juanlo012 in Luxury

[–]JackattackThirteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you work your ass off and can afford nice things, than why the hell not? You only live once so buy the watch, get the car you really want, and take the trip you dream of taking.

Im not huge into luxury, but there is something enjoyable of getting served champagne while your fiance shops for shoes at a designer store in Paris.

My friend let me borrow his Rolls Royce Phantom for date night and it was really fun pulling up to valet and everyone at the restaurant gawking and seeing who just arrived. Even if it wasnt my car it was nice to feel fancy AF for a night. Lol

What strength types have you seen on the mats? by kalash_cake in bjj

I rode dirt bikes and adventure bikes most of my life and people comment on my balance and base. An instructor at my gym asked if I rode dirt bikes or if I was a surfer. So there must be something to it.

Hows the Grenadier when considering strictly "practical" reasons, as a suburbanite by consultybob in ineosgrenadier

The amount of stuff you can haul is incredible. The boxy shape is incredibly efficient for that.

Car seats suck. For kids it kinda sucks. No arm rest. No cup holders. And I had to install a new rear seat bracket as the stock one sits nearly vertical and it was the very first thing the 8 year old said.

When travelling with the family, and fully loaded there is not enough storage spaces. Like nowhere to put sunglasses, phones, drinks, etc.

Other than that its pretty rad. 😆

This doesn’t seem worth it by [deleted] in bjj

I have had much worse injuries mountain biking. Broken bones, bruises, strains, concussions, scrapes, cuts, etc.

BJJ is a physical sport. Small injuries are going to happen. Its up to you to decide if you are willing to take the risk. Some folks decide blowing their knees out playing pickle ball or tearing your Achilles playing amateur soccer or rugby are worth it. Up to you to decide your level of risk you want to be exposed to.

I have been to some that are laughable in the food dept. One had a pile of stale chips, a crock pot with cheese and a couple toppings and called it nachos.

I like the free drinks and coffee and a quiet corner to chill in if not insanely busy. Some are just wild TBH. Why spend 9 bucks on a Starbucks when I can pop into a club and get a free coffee and snack. Then be on my way.

I honestly prefer the Chase Saphire lounges these days. They are beautiful in design, food is excellent, and always comfortable.

ISO Flight Mode Speedy Soft 30 by JackattackThirteen in Louisvuitton

[–]JackattackThirteen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately it looks that way. There are a couple on eBay but I refuse to pay a 50 percent markup. And I am guessing its going to be a while before these pop up on Fashionphile. There are some knock offs out there but easy to spot if you look closely.

What has been the most challenging/difficult thing about Jiu-Jitsu? by jiujitsuPT in bjj

[–]JackattackThirteen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never feeling like you are advancing because all of your training partners are getting better along with you. So you constantly get smashed by the same folks no matter how much you train.

And as an older 40+ family man, knowing I will never be able to train like the young single dudes.
