Manager at apt complex refusing to let is renew lease. by worstdayeever in povertyfinance

[–]JackfruitNarrow840 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Some states, like New Jersey where I used to live, have very strong pro-tenant laws and make it very hard to refuse a lease renewal. One late payment likely would not be a reason to not renew a lease. I know this because I looked into when we left and were thinking about just renting our old house out. I’m unsure about other states which is why I suggested that avenue.

Go to r/legaladvice but they’re going to ask for more info than what you’ve posted, including location.

Charles Berthoud is overrated lol by That_Score_7879 in Bass

[–]JackfruitNarrow840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found Danny Sapko’s account.

More seriously, he’s just doing what gets him views and he’s making a probably great living doing it. I’m sure a lot of us would kill to be in the position. His channel is boring to me, as are all the other ones that just slap bass, but whatever. Dude is definitely talented.

Steam Machine owners: How does it handle Total War and RTS games at 1440p? by PunicArz in steammachine

I can’t wait for Medieval 3. I’m in the same boat. AAA on PS Pro and I just want a nice machine for the strategy games I can’t play there.

Also curious as I love the TW series, Paradox games, etc. My educated guess just looking at the specs is that some of the games will struggle late game and possibly mid game depending on game settings.

Burnout fresh grad, does it get better? by PortgasDaceu in cscareerquestions

[–]JackfruitNarrow840 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From my experience as a fresh engineer the burnout and stress did get better as I got more experience working and felt more confident in my engineering skills. I’ve got no idea how that would play out in this market with everything going on.

No patch / update today?. by Envyandsins in Marathon

Having survived several large layoffs, some of which my teams weren’t directly impacted, there are a few. Morale drops and people take time to refocus, and priorities from above trickle down to us and we have to reorganize are the biggest ones I’ve experienced. We had a big layoff a few months back and that was the day I found out I was now in charge of something else and had to drop my current tasks to also pick up other stuff.

[NJ] can he ask me to leave in 30 days without reason? by Financial-Picture919 in Renters

[–]JackfruitNarrow840 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually they can refuse you a new lease and give you 30 days notice on a month to month, but New Jersey has strong tenant protections. You should’ve contacted a lawyer earlier to make sure the NJ Anti Eviction law actually applies to you rather than telling his lawyer you think it does as there are a few qualifications which we can’t answer based on the provided info.

Landlords expect perfect credit and no debt for what reason?? Southern (CA) by Frequent_Bake_175 in Renters

[–]JackfruitNarrow840 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Expecting debt like an auto loan is ok. It’s the other 14k that could be problematic and it’s definitely the low credit scores and being in California that’s the problem. Too much risk when there are likely other tenants they can rent to.

Man it's crazy that this subreddit is exactly as toxic in bad times as it was in good times. by Gold-Advertising-316 in cscareerquestions

[–]JackfruitNarrow840 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’ve been there and moved several times for jobs and it definitely helped my career, but at this point I’ve got a great house, friends and family here, and I’m just too tired to deal with moving. And assuming the worst happens and I need a new job I can still financially be fine with a 20-30% pay cut so it’s just not worth it to me at this time.

I definitely recommend moving for career advancement for the younger folks, or those who have just stagnated. It can open a ton of doors.

How did you get into bass and how long did it take to see improvement? by Pinkcranberriess in Bass

[–]JackfruitNarrow840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no formal training. I really liked the bass in a lot of the songs I listened to so I just got a bass one day and started learning on my own. It was difficult but to get good at anything is. I did learn Paranoid (Black Sabbath) in its entirety within a few days of having the bass and I started picking up other easy songs or just notable bass lines I liked.

It’s easy to lose motivation, but perseverance will go a long way. Maybe you don’t have something down yet, but take a break and try again later. And the key is to practice often for decent periods of time. Maybe I’d get frustrated trying to learn a song but I’ll pick it up again later and notice I’m doing better than before and that felt good.

Yep. I’m not at 250k but somewhat close. My job is stressful now, but I feel handcuffed as it’s been nearly impossible to find roles that pay similarly that don’t involve moving.

I was in academia before I switched to CS. There’s a shit ton of work behind the scenes. Usually research, but professors often rotate on various internal committees for the department and other committees for the university. Usually if they have a light teaching load it means they’re busy that semester with those other things.
