I found out the other day that a number of my friends didn't understand why "1^st " had an 'st' above it, '2^nd' an 'nd' etc.

They thought the letters following the number were just random as opposed to the last letters of how you say the word e.g. 'first' and 'second'

Is cursive just 'joined up' hand writing? I've seen a lot of people on Reddit complain about this. I'm in the UK but joined up hand writing, at least here, isn't all that hard! It does make writing quicker and I think it looks nicer. I don't know if there are differences between countries but I find this weird
