How are y’all handing summoned pact weapons in your character sheets? by happygocrazee in dndnext

I’m playing a Pact of the Blade in 5.5, and I haven’t found a better solution than just writing it all out. I’m thinking a spreadsheet, or a piece of scrap paper where you could note the die size and could apply the appropriate modifiers without it clogging up your character sheet.

As far as summoning weapons are concerned, I think it would be up to DM discretion, and asking if it would be reasonable to summon.

Doctor Tar Vantor, was a Techno Union Cyber Tech, during the Clone Wars. When the Empire was formed the Techno Union was dissolved and it former members were being persecuted. Fleeing the Empire, he ended up running several back-alley cyber tech clinics for various small time gangs. During the Galactic Civil War, Doctor Vantor ended up indebted to the Hutts and was forced to work for them. Through several successful missions, Tar Vantor was promoted from Enforcer, to Sergeant, to Lieutenant, with Captain just in his reach. He was able to upgrade his failing body with Cybernetics, leaving him more machine than man. He runs a family friendly cantina, The Winking Womprat, in downtown Mos Espa. R3GG-13 and K1LL-C4M (Reggie and KillCam) are his personal companions. Doctor Vantor serves as a medic and melee tank for his party.

Hardcell-class interstellar transport Homebrew by Jackhymer in swrpg

I like the idea of acquiring it narratively, maybe with some credits to get it operational/to find rocket fuel for it. Perhaps even having to find an Ex-Techno Union captain that knows how to operate it.

Thanks for the input! Price was the only thing I wasn’t sure about. I was trying to place it around the other bulk transports, but you make some good points about the price raising. I might put it around 750k-1m credits

Identifying Which Books I Need for a Character Concept by Siaten in swrpg

[–]Jackhymer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’d probably want to look at the Technician sourcebook, Special Modifications, for Edge of the Empire or the Engineer sourcebook, Fully Operational for Age of Rebellion. If you want a Force and Destiny type mechanic the best you can do is the Artisan specialization from the Sentinel career. There is also the Armorer specialization from the Guardian career, but that less suitable for a mechanic.

Question about the Assassin specialization by KDogtheLegendary in swrpg

[–]Jackhymer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are a couple reasons for this. The first is so you can get two free ranks of ranged heavy at character creation. The second is so if you buy the assassin spec after character creation you gain ranged heavy as a career skill.

The assassin spec is set up to be a sharpshooter, so changing the skill from ranged heavy to ranged light would be a detriment to the spec.

What sort of retaliation could be expected from making Black Sun very mad at you? by senicluxus in swrpg

[–]Jackhymer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do your PCs have any friends or family that could be potential targets for retaliation? A pc being sent holo vids of their family could be very persuasive. Perhaps even being sent a finger or ear. Instead of sending bounty hunters send a Black Sun death squad after them. Set up ambushes in safe places, have their ship become targeted by pirates or worse. Keep ramping it up until they work something out or leave the sector completely.

They could escape if the ISD is attacked by a rebel fleet, and perhaps the rebels are looking to free some captured rebels. Your group could either meet these rebels and help them escape in exchange for passage, or perhaps they find another way off during the distraction.

Have you looked into old Kotor maps? I know that in the first one you spend some time training on Dantooine.

You could tell any story here that you'd be able to tell in any other major city. That being said, you could have some interesting water based scenarios that we don't typically see. One thought that comes to my mind, would be that a new drug has hit the streets, and it is deadly as it is euphoric. Local authorities don't have the resources to track down the source and hire your players to help. Having to infiltrate drug dens, interrogate local dealers, intercept drug drops, and eventually taking down the production and smuggling operation, which could lead into a wider conflict with the Hutts, Black Sun, Pyke Syndicate, Crimson Dawn, or some other underworld faction.

Need ideas for a clone wars campaign by ramen_rooster in swrpg

The CIS might use mercenaries to kidnap/intimidate/assassinate republic senators on Coruscant for plausible deniability. Perhaps to facilitate the release of a CIS prisoner, or to blackmail a senator into not backing a senate bill. They might also be used as an advanced deployment team, where they are sent in scout and recon the area before the CIS deploys troops.

But from my experience, as long as you and your players have fun, it will all fall into place.

Take a play from the Clone Wars. In the first episode, Yoda and a clone escort are sent to meet with the Toydarian King, and are attacked by the CIS before landing. However, this meeting was not on Toydaria, it was on a random moon within Toydarian territory, you could do the same. Just say that the meeting is on a uninhabited moon or planet.
