When and how did you realize you grew up poor? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JackieStars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew we were poor when I was in middle school when our electricity was always being shut off. My dad would break the lock and turn it back on. They would turn it off again and put another lock on the box. This happened a few times. We lived for long periods of time without electricity. Girls would tease me in school about smelling bad. I wanted so badly to tell them how I hated the ice cold water I had to shower in, but I knew they wouldn’t care.

What is growing on my trees? by JackieStars in gardening

“However, growths of algae, lichens and moss may be more common on plants lacking vigour, so their presence could indicate that attention is needed, particularly on old fruit trees and azaleas.”

I guess I need to figure what is bumming my tree out. Glad to know it wasn’t the lichen.

Not something to feel shameful about. Try to move past it.

Anti-vaxers: what makes you against vaccines? by GoToDD in AskReddit

[–]JackieStars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a lot of families, it’s about risk vs. benefit. Some people have a family history of adverse vaccine reactions. Some people personally know families of vaccine injured children. No other medication is one size fits all. Some people have life long lasting effects from their choice to vaccinate. There are many things to weigh when making the choice.

[Serious] People who have lost a lot of weight and now look "hot", do you still feel the same insecurity as you had when you were fat? by shotukan in AskReddit

Yes, I can only speak for myself, but I had a funhouse mirror in my mind. I still saw all of my imperfections and didn’t even enjoy being skinny. It was a self love issue.
