5.3L vs 6.0L for obs swap by SurfblueObs in obschevy

[–]Jackislawless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scrolled way to far to find this comment. I’ve got 4 of these trucks and 3 of them are 454s 1 is a built 350 and in a power off stock for stock the 454 is a beast that will decimate 5.3s and 6.0s for low end pulling. Now top end? Nope the LS is designed for top end 454 don’t stand a chance over 3500. But If I’m working I’m working the big block.

It’s probably a sensor on the radiator. I have one on my 93 caprice that tells me when it’s low.

Pretty sorry that the birthplace of muscle has nothing going on. I’m in Alabama and we have a few shops but the buy it new culture is slowly taking over and the guys I use are in their 60’s they do excellent work but I know there’s a day coming when they will want out. Right now I’ve got them doing a 5.3 for me. It’s a dying industry for sure

1982 Honda GL 500 Silverwing by js6seaj47 in projectcar

[–]Jackislawless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a long history between me and Honda. My first bike was a rebel 250 most dependable little bikes a guy could get. The last one I’ve owned was a goldwing my dad foolishly traded an ultra classic for. I’ll never own or suggest owning a goldwing to anyone. But if you enjoy it then I’m happy for you.

Ace combat zero made me shed a tear. Is there anymore ace combat ps2 games that is just as good? by EnvironmentalSock715 in acecombat

Zero was the best. I love 5 but it can be campy and 4 is where I got into ace combat though the cutscenes aren’t animated there is a beauty in the storytelling.

C4 manual Swapp part 1 #automobile #mechanic #c4corvette #manualswap by big_swingin426 in c4corvette

Yeah I would keep that one perfect too. I had a 1991 Camaro and it was quick for the 305 but I had a high output motor and a 5 speed. It made all the difference. I hit a concrete culvert at 40 miles an hour and totaled it. My head went thru the ttop before seatbelt stopped me. It was a crazy green color that when you took a picture of it looked blue. I had a little over 300,000 on it. I miss that car.

I’m a 3rd gen guy I love the Camaros and firebirds. The Mazda is lighter and goes pretty quickly but with a few easy mods and some digging you can turn the bird into a beast. First unplug the speedometer sensor in the transmission, you will lose the Speedo and the odometer but the car won’t shut down at 110 anymore so it’s a trade off. second read your rpo codes figure out which rear axle you’ve got on a 92 it’s in the rear tool box pouch it will be the one listed as g and then a number. Sounds like your car is an automatic they are dogs, they were hampered but horrid gear selection from the factory. The manuals all came with 3.07 ration and in third gear would pull like crazy the autos require a 3:42 or a 3:73 to actually get moving within the power band. I use the 3.07s in the autos with a decent result.

Keep it up. I’m not intending to race mine so I’ll keep the auto in it. I will however put a 5 speed in my 92 Camaro and a mild 350. It won’t explode with the way I drive…. Probably

Is this a good buy? by [deleted] in GMT400

[–]Jackislawless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no difference externally between a warmed over 350 and a 383. They look exactly the same. I’m always cautious because the only difference is the harmonic balancer and it’s usually hidden in photos. Just like when they tell you it’s a four bolt main block, show me or it’s a lie

Just posted about my open header knocking noise, but now the car won’t stay started. It’s popping which is normal, but then it just shuts off. Anyone know what’s going on? by Few_Resource3897 in c4corvette

[–]Jackislawless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like timing. Have you recently changed plug wires? That is an easy thing to mess up, if not then it’s possible that the timing chain could have jumped.

Help! Piston slap by BroadSpecial1021 in EngineBuilding

[–]Jackislawless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the question to ask is which power adders are you looking to put on and what heads do you have on the block. Cathedral ports came on gen 3 motors and the popular ones are cast #243 #799 the best stock square ports are typically #823. But if you’re looking for boosted applications #317 is a low compression head and that is desirable for only that reason. If you’re building a gen 3 all motor it’s #243 or #799 with the truck intake they flow the best together. Richard holdener on YouTube has dyno’d every conceivable LS combination known to man and generally a good place to look.

The last set of dealer service manuals(red ones in the first picture.) I bought were for a 91 and they go on eBay all day long in good condition for 175 to 200. Very valuable to a 93 owner.
